INTRODUCTION: In 2011, San Francisco passed the first citywide ordinance to improve the nutritional standards of children's meals sold at restaurants by preventing the giving away of free toys or other incentives with meals unless nutritional criteria were met. PURPOSE: Analysis of causes of epiphora in patients which have been examined in Department of Ophthalmology in Military Institute of Health Service from 2004 to 2007.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study has comprised 330 subjects: 241 women and 89 men (mean age 58.85 +/- 19.93 years). All patients have been examined because of epiphora (eyelid and lacrimal punctum position, medial canthal tendon laxity--horizontal resting position, lateral distraction test, fluorescein dye disappearance test, syringing of the upper and lower canaliculus, dacryocystography and/or lacrimal scintigraphy).

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Young Korean men are obligated to serve in the military for 18 to 21 months. We investigated the effects of military service on steatotic liver disease (SLD) and other metabolic parameters.
METHODS: Pre-enlistment health check-up performed from 2019 to 2022 and in-service health check-up performed from 2020 to 2022 were merged as paired data. SLD was defined as a hepatic steatosis index of 36 or higher. Hypertension (HTN) and hypertriglyceridemia were also included in the analysis.
