Uncommon manifestations of Endocervical Malignant Mixed Mullerian Tumor with Incidental Bilateral Fallopian Tube Carcinoma.

A 43-year-old perimenopausal lady presented with bleeding per vagina and lower abdominal pain. On evaluation, she had cervical polyp, which expelled spontaneously during the per speculum examination. Histopathology revealed malignant mixed Mullerian tumor. Extended hysterectomy with salphingo oophorectomy was carried out, which showed bilateral fallopian tube carcinoma and leiomyoma uterus. The patient was treated with carboplatin regime and found to be disease-free for 1 year. This case presented because of a rare combination of the lesions.

Malignant Mixed Mullerian Tumor of the Extra-genital Coelomic Epithelium: Report of Two Cases.

Malignant mixed mullerian tumors of the extra-genital coelomic epithelium (female peritoneum) are rare. Since the first case report in 1955, only nineteen have been described. In our Case 1 a 58 year-old G3P3 (gravidity = 3; parity = 3) white female with mixed mullerian tumor, homologous type, involving the abdominal peritoneum was treated with surgery and chemotherapy (doxorubicin hydrochloride and cis-platinum). She died of the disease 20 months after initial surgery. Case 2 is a 75 year-old G0P0 (gravidity = 0; parity = 0) white female with mixed mullerian tumor containing heterologous elem

[Carcinosarcomas (malignant mixed Mullerian tumors) of the uterus. Morphology, pathogenetic aspects and prognostic factors].

Malignant mixed Mullerian tumors (MMMT; carcinosarcomas) are rare epithelial-mesenchymal tumors. With an overall survival rate of 30%-40% the prognosis is much worse compared to high grade endometrioid or serous/clear cell carcinomas. Depending on the histology of the mensenchymal components a distinction is made between homologous and heterologous MMMT. Clinical, morphologic and molecular data suggest that MMMTs are really metaplastic carcinomas in which the mesenchymal part retains epithelial features. The strongest prognostic factor is tumor stage followed by lymph node metastases, deep myo

Malignant mixed Mullerian tumor of the fimbriated end of the fallopian tube: origin as an intraepithelial carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: A paucity of examples of malignant mixed Mullerian tumors (MMMT) of the fimbriated end of the fallopian tube has been reported. CASE: We report a first case of FIGO Stage IV primary MMMT, heterologous type, in the right fimbria of a 77-year-old woman associated with symptomatic pleural spread who succumbed with recurrent disease 12 months after resection and postoperative paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy. CONCLUSIONS: The identification of intraepithelial carcinoma in this tumor lends support to a role of the epithelial component in fimbrial MMMT histogenesis as seen for M

Malignant mixed mullerian tumor arising in extragenital endometriosis: report of a case and review of the literature.

A primary malignant mixed Mullerian tumor (MMMT) was found in the wall of the rectum of a 67-year-old female. The uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries had been previously excised for benign disease. The tumor was associated with foci of benign endometriosis. A literature review of extragenital MMMTs indicates that these are extremely rare tumors. This case supports the theory that endometriosis may serve as a progenitor to extraendometrial malignancy.

Primary malignant mixed mullerian tumor of the uterus: findings on sonography, CT, and gadolinium-enhanced MRI.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of our study was to evaluate the sonographic, contrast-enhanced CT, and gadolinium-enhanced MRI findings of primary malignant mixed müllerian tumors (MMMTs) of the uterus. CONCLUSION: Uterine MMMT most commonly presents as an intracavitary mass with coexistent dilatation of the endometrial canal. Tumors tend to appear hyperechoic on sonography, heterogeneously hypodense and ill defined on contrast-enhanced CT, and heterogeneously hyperintense on T2-weighted MR images with signal abnormalities indicating subacute hemorrhage on T1-weighted MR images. Malignant Mixed Mullerian Tumor Arising from Endometriosis in the Groin: A Case Report and Literature Review.

This was a 57-year-old woman who presented with mild discomfort in the right groin. Physical examination revealed a mass in the right groin, and by ultrasound, the mass was hypoechoic and solid with some internal vascularity. The clinical differential diagnosis included lymphoma and others. The mass was excised for pathologic evaluation. Gross examination of the specimen revealed a 3 × 2.4 × 2 cm, solid and cystic mass. Microscopically, it was a biphasic tumor consisting of carcinomatous and sarcomatous components. The tumor was seen contiguous with endometriosis and atypical endometrioid hype

Malignant mixed Mullerian tumor of broad ligament with synchronous ovarian and endometrial carcinoma: a rare association.

Extragenital malignant mixed Mullerian tumor (MMMT) is a rare tumor in females, and it is even more rarely encountered among the multiple genital malignancies. There are some reports of extragenital MMMTs associated with synchronous or metachronous gynecologic tumors of Mullerian duct origin. We recently encountered an MMMT of broad ligament which is associated with papillary serous cystadenocarcinoma of the ovary and endometrioid adenocarcinoma arising in atypical polypoid adenomyoma endometrium in a 76-year-old woman. This case is presented for its rarity and unique presentation. To our know

Mixed Ovarian Neoplasms With Gastrointestinal-type Mucinous and Mullerian Epithelial Components: A Rare Group of Tumors Demonstrating the Phenotypic Plasticity of the Mullerian Epithelial Cell.

Primary mucinous ovarian neoplasms, gastrointestinal-type (GI-type), are composed of mucin-producing tumor cells resembling intestinal goblet cells or gastric foveolar epithelium. In contrast to seromucinous tumors, which exhibit endocervical-type mucinous differentiation and are thought to be derived from endometriosis, the cell/tissue-of-origin of most GI-type mucinous ovarian tumors is unknown. We identified 8 GI-type mucinous ovarian tumors (cystadenomas, n=4; borderline tumor/carcinoma, n=4) with spatially distinct areas that showed morphologic features of Mullerian-type epithelial differ

Ovarian malignant Mullerian mixed tumor (heterologous) whose epithelial component is composed predominantly of signet ring cell carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: Ovarian malignant Mullerian mixed tumor (MMMT) (carcinosarcoma) is a relatively rare, very aggressive tumor. METHODS: Herein is presented an unusual case of heterologous MMMT with an epithelial element composed predominantly of signet ring cell carcinoma. RESULTS: A 60-year-old Japanese woman consulted our hospital because of a pelvic mass. Imaging modalities showed a huge tumor of the right ovary. Laparotomy was performed, and frozen section showed a malignant tumor. Therefore, hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, lymph node dissection, and omentectomy were performed.

Background A malignant mixed Mullerian tumor (MMMT), otherwise known as carcinosarcoma, is a rare and aggressive malignancy involving the uterus. Despite aggressive treatment, they have poor outcomes. We performed this study to analyze the clinical profile, prognostic features, and treatment outcomes of patients treated for MMMT of the uterine corpus in our center. Methodology A study sample from a database of patients treated at a tertiary care center in South India between January 2015 and December 2019 was analyzed retrospectively. A total of 29 non-metastatic patients were included in the

A sarcomatous-type peritoneal malign mixed mullerian tumor implant in association with ovarian adenocarcinoma: a case report.

A rare case of a patient with a histopathological diagnosis of a sarcomatous-type peritoneal malign mixed müllerian tumor implant in association with ovarian adenocarcinoma is reported. A 52-year-old patient was referred to our clinic for an adnexal mass. At pelvic examination, an irregular, fixed, approximately 7-8 cm in size mass was detected in the right adnexal area. At transvaginal ultrasonographic examination, it was observed that there was an 80 x 70 mm sized, irregularly contoured, semisolid mass with hyperechogenous areas inside originating from the ovary in the right adnexal area. Malignant Mixed Mullerian Tumor (Carcinosarcoma) in the Female Genital Tract: A Retrospective Study From a Single Center in North India.

Background Carcinosarcoma (malignant mixed Mullerian tumor (MMT)) is a rare tumor of the uterus, even rarer in the ovary. Presenting symptoms are indistinguishable from high-grade uterine endometrium carcinoma. Histologically, tumors are biphasic, composed of both epithelial and mesenchymal (sarcomatous) components. The diagnosis of carcinosarcoma presents a challenge due to the need to exclude commonly occurring mimickers, necessitating the application of a broad panel of immunohistochemistry markers. Material and methods This retrospective descriptive study of malignant MMT was conducted ove

Malignant mixed mullerian tumor of the vagina: case report with review of the literature, immunohistochemical study, and evaluation for human papilloma virus.

The patient was a 57-year-old white woman who presented with a 3.0 x 2.0-cm partially ulcerated vaginal polyp. Histology revealed a malignant mixed mullerian tumor composed of invasive squamous cell carcinoma with deeper areas of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma. Invasive carcinoma had overlying high-grade vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia (VaIN III), which contained koilocytic atypia. In situ hybridization detected high-risk human papillomavirus DNA in both the carcinoma and the sarcoma components.

Presence of a sarcomatous component outside the ovary is an adverse prognostic factor for primary ovarian malignant mixed mesodermal/mullerian tumors: a clinicopathologic study of 47 cases.

Primary ovarian malignant mixed mesodermal tumors are uncommon. There exist few data in the literature on the significance of the sarcomatous component (SC) in these tumors. Here we investigated this aspect in 47 such tumors, with particular interest in whether the presence of SC outside the ovary confers a worse prognosis. We correlated various features of the SC (homologous vs. heterologous, type of heterologous SC, extent/percentage, mitotic count, necrosis, whether or not SC is present outside the ovary) with disease-specific survival (DSS) using the Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test.
