Malignant myopericytoma is an exceedingly rare soft tissue tumour with only 14 documented cases in the scientific literature. Myopericytomas can occur in association with HIV-AIDS and have a predilection for internal organs such as the bronchus, larynx, liver and brain. Ebstein-Barr virus encoded small RNA(EBER) was positive in three out of 14 cases. In this case report we present the second documented case of a malignant myopericytoma, with a positive EBER found intracranially - specifically in the supratentorial compartment - invading the superior sagittal sinus. Gross total excision of the

We describe the case of a 46-year-old man who presented with a four-month history of a reddish, otherwise asymptomatic, nodular lesion that involved the mucosal side of the upper lip. The lesion consisted of myoid glomus-like cells arranged around branching and thin-walled haemangiopericytoma-like vascular structures, and was classified as glomangiopericytoma. No recurrences occurred during an eight-month follow-up. To the best of our knowledge, this tumour has never previously been described in the mucosa of the lip.

Myopericytoma is a rare, recently described tumor demonstrating a hemangiopericytoma-like vascular pattern. We present two cases of myopericytoma associated with trauma: a 64-year-old man who developed several nodules on his nose four months after sustaining multiple abrasions to his forehead and nose, and a 72-year-old woman with a solitary growth in the alveolar ridge of unknown duration. Biopsy specimens of the lesions in both cases demonstrated a striking concentric perivascular proliferation of bland spindle-shaped pericytic cells characteristic of myopericytoma. Despite sharing morpholog

Myopericytomas are rare benign tumors that show a distinctive, concentric perivascular proliferation of oval to spindle-shaped myoid-appearing cells that are predominantly arranged concentrically around thin-walled vascular channels. These lesions are similar in histologic appearance to hemangiopericytomas, myofibromas, and glomus tumors. The myopericytoma is usually found in the distal extremities, but a handful of reports have shown the lesion to be present in the oral cavity. A review of the literature to date shows only 4 other reported cases of myopericytomas occurring in the lips. We des

Myopericytoma (MPC) is a vascular neoplasm exhibiting differentiation towards perivascular cells. Variable cytoarchitechtural features are visible within MPC, and there is much overlap between MPC, myofibroma and glomus tumours. MPC have a local recurrence rate of 10-20% and malignancy has been described in a few published cases. Previously, superficial parotidectomy has been recommended for MPC but, in this case, the surgical approach was via extracapsular dissection (ECD). A 66-year-old Caucasian man presented with a palpable mass arising from the superficial lobe of the right parotid gland.

BACKGROUND: Myopericytomas are benign vascular tumors composed of perivascular myoid cells that usually arise in superficial soft tissues of the extremities.
METHODS: We here report on 5 cases of myopericytoma, malignant myopericytoma, and glomangiopericytoma arising from subcutaneous, paraspinal, orbital, and sellar regions that secondarily involved the nervous system. Patients experienced orbital swelling, progressing neuropathic pain, dermatoma specific pain, and oculomotor paresis.
RESULTS: Mean age at diagnosis was 56.8 years (range, 38-74 years). After a mean follow-up of 38 months, no

Myopericytoma is a newly proposed subgroup of perivascular tumors in the World Health Organization classification of soft tissue tumors. In this study, we report a case of a benign myopericytoma with detailed multidetector CT (MDCT) findings in the parotid gland, a location that has not been described for this type of tumor previously. The clinical presentation, imaging features, histopathological and immunohistochemical findings, and the differential diagnosis with other tumors in the parotid gland are described and reviewed.

A 66-year-old female patient was referred to our hospital for resection of a right atrial mass. Four months earlier, she had suffered an acute cerebrovascular accident due to occlusion of the sylvian segment of the right middle cerebral artery from atheromatous tight stenosis in the right internal carotid artery. Later, investigations with transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography revealed a 3.4-cm right atrial mass that was resected surgically. Microscopic evaluation revealed a well-circumscribed nodular tumor, located within the interatrial septum, and corresponding to an angioleiom

Myopericytoma (MPC) is a rare mesenchymal soft-tissue tumor that typically presents as a benign lesion. It is most commonly found on the skin of extremities, with infrequent involvement of deeper structures. Its rarity in visceral locations makes preoperative diagnosis challenging, and its hypervascular nature can raise suspicion of malignancy. We report the case of a perimenopausal woman referred to gynecology for evaluation of an incidental adnexal mass detected during a routine transvaginal ultrasound. Further assessment revealed a highly vascularized broad ligament mass of uncertain origin

STUDY DESIGN: A case report.
OBJECTIVE: To illustrate a rare case of oncogenous osteomalacia caused by a spinal thoracic myopericytoma.
SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: Osteomalacia related to a tumor is well known. The cause of the disorder is usually a highly vascularized, benign tumor of mesenchymal origin. Location of the tumor in the spine is very rare. Removal of the tumor is followed by resolution of osteomalacia.
METHODS: Diagnosis of oseomalacia was established on the presence of cardinal clinical, biologic, and radiologic features of osteomalacia. Localization of the tumor at T5 and T6

We present a unique case of a 6 cm, incidental, ureteral myopericytoma which was initially believed to be an ovarian tumor with mass effect, causing hydroureteronephrosis. A 75-year-old woman presented with a three-month history of postprandial cramps and heartburn. A right distal ureterectomy with en-bloc resection of the mass was performed. Histologically, a well-circumscribed, cellular proliferation of uniform, cytologically bland, spindle cells was identified that had a multilayered, concentric growth pattern around numerous blood vessels. Immunohistochemically, the spindle lesional cells

A 50-year-old female with a history of seizures, headache, nausea, and vomiting. On imaging, parafalcine meningioma with mass effect features was rendered. She underwent right frontal tumor excision and craniotomy. Pathological examination showed a tumor composed of syncytial aggregates of round to plump fusiform cells forming whorls around prominent branching congested vessels. The tumorous cells expressed alpha-smooth muscle actin and heavy chain caldesmon and were negative for epithelial membrane antigen, protein S100, HMB45, CD34, calponin and desmin, thus providing the final diagnosis of

We describe a case of a cutaneous perivascular myoma with features overlapping between the myofibromatosis and the myopericytoma type. The patient is a 58-year-old woman with a painless plaque-like and multinodular lesion in the pretibial dermis and subcutaneous tissue. She had repeated trauma to this site, first in her early youth that left an area of hyperpigmentation, and then again at age 40. The biopsy showed a biphasic pattern with a myofibromatosis-type component composed of spindle cell myoid nodules and more cellular round cell areas. The myopericytoma-like areas appeared to be infilt

Myopericytoma is a recently described hemangiopericytoma-like neoplasm with myoid differentiation. These tumors are typically located in the subcutaneous and soft tissues of the extremities. The authors report a rare pleural-based pulmonary myopericytoma in a 58-year-old woman. The lesion was grossly homogeneous and well circumscribed. Microscopically, it was composed of densely packed spindle cells organized as whorls and short interlacing fascicles with a concentric perivascular distribution. Immunohistochemical reactions were positive for vimentin, smooth muscle actin (SMA), muscle-specific

BACKGROUND: Myopericytoma is a rare spindle cell tumor of mesenchymal origin, typically benign, characterized by concentric proliferation of tumor cells around blood vessels within subcutaneous tissue. It primarily occurs in middle-aged adults and is often located in distal extremities, although cases have been reported in proximal extremities and head-neck regions. However, occurrences within the oral cavity are exceedingly rare. To date, literature reviews have identified only two cases in children under 10 years old and reported only five cases of myopericytoma occurring in the lip region.

Background: Myopericytoma is a rare benign vascular tumour characterised by concentric spindle cell proliferation around blood vessels, often misdiagnosed due to its resemblance to other soft tissue masses. Dupuytren's disease (DD), a fibroproliferative disorder of the palmar fascia, causes progressive contractures, typically affecting the ring and little fingers. While these conditions are well-documented individually, their coexistence in the same region is rare and diagnostically challenging. Case Presentation: This report highlights a 67-year-old male with longstanding DD and a recurrent p

INTRODUCTION: Myopericytomas usually occur in the extremities of older individuals; however, they also rarely occur in the penis. We report a case of myopericytoma in the corpus cavernosum of the penis and review the relevant literature.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 76-year-old man presented with a slow-growing painless nodule on the left side of the penis. On physical examination, a non-tender, 7-mm mass was palpable. This tumor showed inhomogeneous low signal intensity on T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging. The mass was excised and a myopericytoma diagnosed by pathological examination of the op

Myopericytoma is a rare tumor generally arising from skin and soft tissues of extremities, trunk, head, and neck regions, rarely from visceral sites. An intrathoracic visceral localization may carry a broad differential diagnosis including primary lung, pleura and chest wall lesions, or metastatic lesions. To date, any radiological features have been recognized and diagnosis of myopericytoma with intrathoracic localization remains still challenging. Here, we describe the case of a subpleural lesion incidentally diagnosed in an older adult affected by gastric cancer. Radiological features did n

INTRODUCTION: Myopericytoma is a rare mesenchymal soft tissue tumor that originates from perivascular myoid cells and mostly benign in nature. With a slight male predisposition, it occurs more commonly in the lower extremities with an insidious and painless presentation. Contrary to the usual, our patient was with a rare presentation in the inguinal region with a dull aching pain.
CASE PRESENTATION: We herein report a case of a 64-year-old female patient with myopericytoma, the first of its kind reported in Nepal, present in the right inguinal region and surgically removed. The mass was singl
