Digital Fabrication of an Occlusal Reference Index to Facilitate Crown Insertion and Minimize Unnecessary Occlusal Adjustments in Case of Unstable Occlusion: A Clinical Report.

Accurate occlusal assessment during single crown insertion can be compromised by proprioceptive misperception, leading to unnecessary occlusal adjustment. The report introduces a digitally fabricated occlusal index that serves as a stable occlusal reference during crown insertion. This method may help to minimize the risk of overadjustment and enhances chairside efficiency.

Occlusion of PFO with a dedicated adjustable device: influence on one year outcome.

AIMS: Though the association of patent foramen ovale with cryptogenic stroke in young patients has been known for 20 years, most interventional closure systems are not specifically designed for PFO closure, but instead are adapted from ASD closure systems. We describe the safety, feasibility and efficacy of transcatheter closure of PFO using a dedicated adjustable device specifically designed to overcome some of the pitfalls of PFO occlusion like erosion, left atrial thrombus formation, embolisation, maladaptation to cardiac structures and excessive foreign material deposition. METHODS AND RE

Transcatheter occlusion of patent ductus arteriosus with adjustable buttoned device. Initial clinical experience.

BACKGROUND: Several devices are available for transcatheter occlusion of patent ductus arteriosus. Most of these devices either require complicated intracardiac maneuvering, have not been tried in humans, or need a large-sized sheath for implantation of the device. METHODS AND RESULTS: During a 26-month period ending November 1992, 14 patients underwent transcatheter closure of patent ductus arteriosus with an adjustable buttoned device delivered via a 7F sheath under an institutional review board-approved custom-made device protocol. The children were 15 months to 8 years of age with weight

Accuracy of two face-bow/semi-adjustable articulator systems in transferring the maxillary occlusal cant.

CONTEXT: The precision of an arbitrary face-bow in accurately transferring the orientation of the maxillary cast to the articulator has been questioned because the maxillary cast is mounted in relation to arbitrary measurements and anatomic landmarks that vary among individuals. AIM: This study was intended to evaluate the sagittal inclination of mounted maxillary casts on two semi-adjustable articulator/face-bow systems in comparison to the occlusal cant on lateral cephalograms. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Maxillary casts were mounted on the Hanau and Girrbach semi-adjustable articulators follow

[The positioner--a possibility for the fine adjustment of the occlusion objectively assessed by condylar measurements of the discrepancy between the ICP and RCP].

A group of ten adolescents was treated with fixed appliances at the Department of Stomatology and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Graz. Subsequently the patients were fitted with a gnathological positioner. On the day of band removal ten sets of models were made and subsequently two, four and twelve weeks later. They were mounted on an articulator and cephalometric measurements were taken three times by each of the examiners. These records served to provide evidence of discrepancies of the condylar position between ICP and RCP in all three planes. In the second part of the examination, the pat

Sequential soft- and hard-tissue augmentation after clear aligner-mediated adjustment of traumatic occlusion: A case report.

BACKGROUND: Oral health and esthetic concerns have increasingly motivated adults with periodontitis to seek orthodontic care. Patients with periodontitis often have other dental complications that can make treatment more challenging or less likely to be successful. The predictability of multidisciplinary regenerative and orthodontic treatment approaches in a patient with periodontitis, thin periodontal phenotype, and anterior crossbite is described. CASE DESCRIPTION: A 35-year-old man was designated as having a high risk of experiencing soft-tissue recession owing to his thin periodontal phen

Limb occlusion pressure adjusted tourniquet use results in adequate hemostasis in pediatric limb surgeries: a prospective clinical study.

Tourniquets are widely used in pediatric orthopedic surgeries to provide a bloodless operative field. However, inappropriate application can lead to complications. This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of using Doppler-derived limb occlusion pressure (LOP) to guide tourniquet pressure in children. A prospective observational study was conducted from November 2022 to February 2025 in a tertiary care orthopedic department. Pediatric patients (age: 1-15 years) undergoing upper or lower limb surgery were included. Tourniquet pressure was set at LOP + 50 mmHg, measured using a handheld Doppl

Comparison of fixed dose versus weight-adjusted heparin on the prevention of radial artery occlusion after diagnostic transradial catheterization.

OBJECTIVES: Transradial access (TRA) catheterization has demonstrated significant reductions in procedural complications compared with other access routes. However, radial artery occlusion (RAO) remains a concern, and the optimal dose of heparin to mitigate RAO has yet to be determined. This study aims to address this gap by investigating the impact of weight-adjusted heparin doses on the incidence of RAO in patients undergoing diagnostic transradial catheterization. METHODS: This study is a subanalysis of a multicenter, prospective, randomized trial evaluating heparin dosing strategies in 14

A prospective single arm study of salivary cortisol changes in muscular temporomandibular disorders patients following computer-guided occlusal adjustments.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: The relationship between occlusomuscular temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and stress measured by salivary cortisol and the effect that disclusion time reduction (DTR) therapy may have on cortisol levels remains unclear. Objective evidence is lacking as to whether modifying the occlusal dynamics with DTR therapy will objectively reduce stress responses in affected patients. PURPOSE: The purpose of this clinical study was to evaluate the stress levels among patients with occlusomuscular TMD by measuring salivary cortisol levels before and after DTR therapy. MATERIAL AND

Reliability of the digital functionally generated path technique for assessing occlusal interferences and adjusting CAD-CAM zirconia crowns: an in vivo study.

BACKGROUND: Designing the occlusal surface of a prosthesis to ensure optimal eccentric occlusion is challenging without precisely replicating the patient's mandibular movements. During the CAD-CAM prosthesis delivery process, clinicians often need to make adjustments to the prosthesis to avoid occlusal interferences that may occur during lateral excursions. Recently, there have been developments in the field of mandibular motion tracking using optical devices. These approaches seek to incorporate an individual's functional movement into the research field of occlusal morphology. AIM: This stu
