Odontoma is the most common mixed epithelial and mesenchymal tumour-like malformation which affects maxillary bones. Clinically, Odontomas present as lesions of benign behavior, causing little or no deformity, are asymptomatic, with self-limited growth and usually detected on routine radiographs. Radiographically, they are radiopaque lesions, well-demarcated surrounded by a thin soft tissue capsule. Compound odontomas consist of numerous tooth-like structures, whereas in complex odontomas it consists of a disorganized mass of calcified tissue. The aim of this article was to report an atypical

Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma (AFO) is a mixed odontogenic tumor that presents epithelial and mesenchymal components. Ameloblastic fibro-odontoma is generally diagnosed between the first and second decades of life and normally shows a slow clinical growth in the posterior portion of the maxilla or mandible, being mostly associated with 1 or more impacted teeth. Radiographic features of AFO show a radiolucent well-defined, uni, or multilocular defect due to containing variable amounts of calcified material. The enucleation of the tumor is the usual conduct and should be followed up for a long per

The formation of ghost-like cells complicated the diagnosis of this case. Although treatment should have begun several months earlier, active orthodontic and surgical intervention led to a satisfactory result.

A retrospective investigation on the eruption of impacted teeth after surgical treatment of odontoma has been carried out. A total of 218 operative removals of odontomas took place in the Department of Oral Surgery, Royal Dental College in the years 1952-1974; 49 of these were localized directly in relation to an impacted tooth and were considered as the cause of impaction. In 42 cases there was sufficient material for the follow-up investigation. The morphology of the impacted tooth was normal in 62% (26/42); when deviation occurred, only the root was involved (11/13). After removal of the od

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to analyze clinic and radiologic features of the 69 odontoma cases and present a rare case of erupted compound odontoma in the oral cavity.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The 69 cases were analyzed with regard to the following parameters: age, gender, location, associated unerupted teeth, missing teeth, radiological and histopathological features and treatment protocols.
RESULTS: Of the 69 cases, 49 were compound odontoma and 20 were complex odontoma. There was a female predilection for both compound and complex odontomas. Compound odontoma occurred more often

A young female patient reported to the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery with complaint of asymptomatic swelling in left posterior region of lower jaw since 6 months. Complete intraoral and extraoral clinical examination was done. Routine radiographical investigations were advised. Based on clinical and radiographical findings she was provisionally diagnosed with odontoma of left mandible. It was a considerably giant mass with thinned out both cortical plates and the inferior border of the mandible. Although we assumed high risk of fracture of the mandible, successful surgical excis

Odontoma is considered to be the most common odontogenic tumor of the oral cavity. Most odontomas are asymptomatic and are discovered during routine radiographic investigations and can cause disturbances in the eruption of the teeth, most commonly delayed eruption or deflection. By a retrospective study design, demographic and clinical data regarding patients who presented odontomas from year 1995 to 2015 were obtained in order and the influence of active therapy on the dentition and on the treatment of impacted teeth was analyzed. Forty-five patients (mean age 14.2 years) with 29 complex and

In this manuscript, we present a rare case report of giant complex odontoma in the maxillary sinus, where the applied therapy included complete excision of the lesion with a conservative approach. Odontomas are also called benign growth abnormalities or hamartomas. They represent a more common type of odontogenic tumor and are related to various disorders such as bad dental placements, expansion, increased volumetric bone, and no eruption of permanent teeth. Usually they have an asymptomatic evolutionary course. The etiologic factors, although obscure, are related to local trauma, infection, a

Odontomas are rare, benign odontogenic tumors in dogs, cats, humans, and other species. Although odontomas have been referenced as occurring in dogs and cats, there are no publications pertaining to odontomas in cats. This case series of nine odontomas in eight cats includes description of clinical presentations, diagnostic imaging findings, histopathologic characteristics, and treatment outcomes. Common clinical presentations in this study include missing teeth, tooth displacement, presence of a fluctuant mass, and alveolar bone expansion. Diagnostic imaging reveals a mixed radiodense central

Dilated Composite Odontoma also known as Dens invaginatus, "dens in dente", or "tooth within tooth" is a rare dental anomaly resulting from enamel organ infolding during tooth development, often leading to complications like caries and pulp infection. With a prevalence of 7.45%, it commonly affects upper lateral incisors, predominantly as a Type I morphology. Mesiodens, a supernumerary tooth in the anterior maxillary midline, occurs in 89.7% of single cases and 10.3% of bilateral cases. The coexistence of dens invaginatus in a mesiodens is extremely rare, posing diagnostic and treatment challe

AIM: The aim of this report is to present a clinical case of impaction of a maxillary left central incisor in a mixed dentition caused by the presence of an odontoma as well as a review of the pertinent dental literature.
BACKGROUND: Knowledge of the normal tooth eruption patterns is essential for the identification and appropriate treatment of deviations in eruption that may endanger physiologic development. A delay in time between the exfoliation of a deciduous tooth and the eruption of its permanent successor may be related to a disorder known as dental retention. This occurs when tooth er

INTRODUCTION: Compound odontoma is an abnormal development of dental tissue which is characterized by regular and ordinate structures that resemble a normal tooth. Actinomyces is an abnormal inhabitant of the oral cavity which is able to become pathological whenever the specific or non specific defense mechanisms of an individual may fail.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Described is a case of 60 years old male with no deficit of his immune system confirmed by various analysis. There is one year history of an intermittent pain to the left half of his mandible. An x-ray suggests an odontoma. The gengiv

Three clinical cases of odontoma were detected in 2 children and 1 adolescent. The tumors were surgically removed. Clinical suspicion was based on facial deformity in one of the cases and on the absence of permanent tooth eruption in the other two. Radiographic evidence of odontoma was confirmed through histological study.

Odontomas represent a hamartomatous malformation. They are usually asymptomatic and are diagnosed on routine radiological examination .The eruption and infection of odontoma are uncommon. Till now, only 20 cases of erupted odontoma are reported in the literature. We report an unusual case of infected complex odontoma with eruption of odontoma in the oral cavity and perforation of the cheeks with a tooth impacted upon which makes the presentation unusual that has not been reported earlier. The dentist should be familiar with common and unusual appearance of odontoma for proper diagnosis and man

An 8-and-a-half-year-old girl with supernumerary teeth of tuberculate and odontoma type is described. Treatment of the patient is carried out on conventional lines with a combination of surgical and orthodontic methods. The upper tuberculate type supernumerary teeth were extracted and, after surgical exposure, the upper permanent first incisors were aligned with removable appliances. After secondary dentition was completed, the lower odontoma type supernumerary tooth was removed surgically, and also the maxillary and mandibular first premolars were extracted because of severe crowding, and fix

OBJECTIVE: Odontoma is a comparatively common odontogenic tumor, and it may lead to interference with the eruption of its associated tooth. Odontomas are mostly associated with permanent teeth, and they are rarely associated with deciduous teeth. The purpose of this report is to analyze 107 odontomas and to present a case of complex odontoma associated with a lower deciduous second molar.
SUBJECT AND METHODS: The 106 cases were analyzed with regard to the following parameters: age, gender, location, erupted teeth, congenital missing teeth, radiological features, histopathological features and
