OBJECTIVES: Although sickle cell disease is the most common of all hereditary disorders, there are a few publications about the effects of the disease on the functions of the ears, nose and throat. In this review, we present an overview of the clinical manifestations of sickle cell disease in general and highlight the problems specifically presenting in the field of otorhinolaryngology.
METHODS: We review the pathophysiology of sickle cell disease and its clinical features in general. Then, we review its manifestations in ear, nose and throat diseases.

OBJECTIVES: To detail the main otorhinolaryngological manifestations of autoinflammatory diseases, aiming to contribute to early diagnosis and treatment.
DATA SOURCES: Searches were conducted in PubMed, LILACS, Cochrane Library.
REVIEW METHODS: A systematic review of the medical literature on autoinflammatory diseases was conducted to identify characteristic head and neck manifestations, using PRISMA criteria. Observational studies or systematic reviews with a minimum of 10 cases per disease were included. Qualitative synthesis and a risk assessment were carried out.

OBJECTIVE: To study the importance of supervision in respiratory tract for otorhinolaryngological disease.
METHOD: Nine cases died of suffocation were reported and the causes were analyzed. In the 9 cases there were 3 cases with the foreign body in bronchus, 2 cases with the trachea bleeding, 2 cases with laryngopharyngeal tumor and 2 cases with bleeding from nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE: Behçet's disease is a chronic systemic inflammatory disease of unknown etiology. We examined the correlation between otorhinolaryngologic symptoms and otorhinolaryngologic physical findings in patients with Behçet's disease, in search of strategies to reduce the morbidity rates.
