Label-free urinary protein detection through machine learning analysis of single droplet evaporation patterns.

BACKGROUND: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major global public health issue, with a steadily increasing incidence. Urinary protein detection serves as a crucial indicator for the diagnosis, monitoring and management of CKD. However, current methods for urinary protein measurement, such as urine dipstick tests, colorimetric assays, and 24-h total urine protein analysis, have certain limitations that restrict their routine application in CKD screening and follow-up. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a simple, convenient, and rapid diagnostic approach for kidney function assessment. RESU

Machine learning encodes urine and serum metabolic patterns for autoimmune disease discrimination, classification and metabolic dysregulation analysis.

There is a wide variety of autoimmune diseases (ADs) with complex pathogenesis and their accurate diagnosis is difficult to achieve because of their vague symptoms. Metabolomics has been proven to be an efficient tool in the analysis of metabolic disorders to provide clues about the mechanism and diagnosis of diseases. Previous studies of the metabolomics analysis of ADs were not competent in their discrimination. Herein, a liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS) strategy combined with machine learning is proposed for the discrimination and classification of ADs. Urine and serum

Unsupervised machine learning for multi-system adverse event pattern detection in pharmacovigilance: A proof-of-concept analysis of fluoroquinolone reports in FAERS.

AIMS: Traditional pharmacovigilance detects single drug-event associations but cannot readily characterize multi-system adverse-event patterns such as fluoroquinolone-associated disability. We evaluated unsupervised machine learning for this purpose, using fluoroquinolones as an exemplar. METHODS: We analysed 40 127 adult fluoroquinolone primary-suspect reports from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS, 2004-2025). Events were encoded as binary MedDRA Preferred Term (PT) and System Organ Class matrices; seriousness and outcome were excluded from clustering and used only post hoc. Mul

Unveiling Hidden Patterns in Electrode-Electrolyte Interphase Chemistry and Architecture Through Machine Learning-Assisted Mass Spectrometry Analysis.

Electrode-electrolyte interphases (EEIs) govern battery performance, yet the interplay between their chemical composition and spatial organization remains challenging to resolve. Time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) provides rich 3D chemical depth profiles of these interfaces, yet conventional analyses simplify the complexity by collapsing the data into 1D depth profiles or 2D maps, obscuring critical spatial features. Here, we apply a machine-learning-based approach directly to 3D TOF-SIMS depth profiles, leveraging their full spatial and chemical richness to investigate

Analysis of clinical significance and molecular characteristics of methionine metabolism and macrophage-related patterns in hepatocellular carcinoma based on machine learning.

BACKGROUND: Increasing evidence has indicated that abnormal methionine metabolic activity and tumour-associated macrophage infiltration are correlated with hepatocarcinogenesis. However, the relationship between methionine metabolic activity and tumour-associated macrophage infiltration is unclear in hepatocellular carcinoma, and it contributes to the occurrence and clinical outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Thus, we systematically analysed the expression patterns of methionine metabolism and macrophage infiltration in hepatocellular carcinoma using bioinformatics and machine learning

Integrative analysis of signaling and metabolic pathways, immune infiltration patterns, and machine learning-based diagnostic model construction in major depressive disorder.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a multifactorial disorder involving genetic and environmental factors, with unclear pathogenesis. This study aims to explore the pathogenic pathway of MDD and its relationship with immune responses and to discover its potential targets by bioinformatics methods. We first applied gene set variation analysis (GSVA) and seven different immune infiltration algorithms to the GSE98793 dataset to determine the differences in signaling pathways, metabolic pathways, and immune cell infiltration between MDD patients and healthy controls. Differentially expressed genes

Network-based machine learning reveals cardiometabolic multimorbidity patterns and modifiable lifestyle factors: a community-focused analysis of NHANES 2015-2018.

Cardiometabolic Multimorbidity (CMM) has emerged as one of the primary threats to human health globally due to its high incidence, disability, and mortality rates. Accurate identification of CMM patterns is crucial for CMM classification and health management. However, current research on CMM pattern recognition often neglects the complex relationships among its influencing factors. Based on data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) between 2015 and 2018, this study included 2,306 participants with an average age of 51 years, who suffered from at least two of the

Quantitative sensory testing response patterns to capsaicin- and ultraviolet-B-induced local skin hypersensitization in healthy subjects: a machine-learned analysis.

The comprehensive assessment of pain-related human phenotypes requires combinations of nociceptive measures that produce complex high-dimensional data, posing challenges to bioinformatic analysis. In this study, we assessed established experimental models of heat hyperalgesia of the skin, consisting of local ultraviolet-B (UV-B) irradiation or capsaicin application, in 82 healthy subjects using a variety of noxious stimuli. We extended the original heat stimulation by applying cold and mechanical stimuli and assessing the hypersensitization effects with a clinically established quantitative se
