This study focuses on developing an automatic high-precision alignment system that integrates automated optical inspection with machine vision recognition to replace traditional manual alignment methods. The core aim is to implement an image-based positioning and control system for a precision alignment platform with dual cameras. Various image processing techniques, such as template matching, edge detection, mathematical morphology, and Hough transforms, are used to identify target features. The identified target coordinates are then fed back to the controller, which calculates the necessary

Discrete gesture recognition provides a direct output form for command-based human-machine interaction, while fine-grained multi-level recognition can expand command capacity by mapping subtle graded finger movements to distinct commands or different levels of the same command, thereby reducing the need for large or repetitive hand gestures. However, reliably distinguishing fine-grained multi-level gestures remains challenging. Here, we present a stretchable multichannel ultrasonic device comprising four functional sites and sixteen piezoelectric modules. Its fan-shaped substrate stretches up

Unsupervised domain adaptive object detection (UDAOD) aims to effectively apply the detector trained on a labeled (source domain) and an unlabeled (target domain) dataset to the target domain. The mean teacher framework has demonstrated good applicability and wide application in this task. However, influenced by the difference between the two domains, the teacher model often generates many false positive objects. The pseudo-labels cannot sufficiently include all classes of objects in an image because of single-threshold filtering, causing the model to perform poorly in detection tasks. Therefo

In the present paper, a procedure is developed for fully automatic recognition of the frontal sinus in cranial radiographs. An X-ray image of a whole skull is required at the input of the procedure, which consists of three subsequent steps: the selection of a rectangular region of interest, containing the sinus; detection of the line of brow ridges; and fronto-nasal suture, detection of the borders of the frontal sinus. The recognition algorithm is based on a method of connectivity-preserving thresholding, introduced in the present study, and on watersheds from markers. Totally, 50 X-ray image

Deep neural networks enriched with structural information have been widely employed for facial expression recognition tasks. However, these methods often depend on hierarchical information rather than face property to finish expression recognition. In this paper, we propose a cross-modal network with strong biological and structural information for facial expression recognition (CMNet). CMNet can respectively learn expression information via face symmetry on a whole face, left and right half faces to extract complementary facial features. To prevent negative effect of biological and structural

Facial occlusion removes expression-relevant evidence and remains a major source of error in camera-based affective sensing. Existing approaches to occlusion-robust facial expression recognition often rely on specialized attention, reconstruction, semantic, or geometric pipelines, whereas aggressive training using synthetic occlusions may impair discrimination on clean images or overfit to synthetic corruption patterns. We address this tension between cleanness and robustness through clean-anchored hard occlusion fine-tuning (CA-HOFT). HardMix samples structured and random occlusion modes acco

Facial emotion recognition (FER) is vital for improving human-machine interactions, serving as the foundation for AI systems that integrate cognitive and emotional intelligence. This helps bridge the gap between mechanical processes and human emotions, enhancing machine engagement with humans. Considering the constraints of low hardware specifications often encountered in real-world applications, this study leverages recent advances in deep learning to propose an enhanced model for FER. The model effectively utilizes texture information from faces through Gabor and Local Binary Pattern (LBP) f

Vision-based hand gesture recognition (HGR) systems are predominantly developed for frontal camera viewpoints, whereas smart-home cameras are often ceiling-mounted, creating a viewpoint-induced domain gap. To investigate this issue, we collected and manually annotated CeilGest, an 18-class ceiling-view hand gesture dataset comprising 156,282 annotated frames from 68 participants recorded in distinct domestic environments. We then systematically evaluated frontal-to-ceiling transfer using YOLO-based detectors trained on HaGRID and compared their performance with an in-domain CeilGest-trained mo

In category-level 6D pose estimation based on shape priors, deforming a canonical shape prior to align with a specific instance is a crucial step. Most existing approaches perform a simple pooling operation to aggregate features from the object instance and use the resulting global features to guide the shape prior's deformation. However, this overly simplified aggregation leads to the loss of important local details, weakening deformation quality and causing inaccuracies in the estimated pose. To address these limitations, we propose a Cross Attention-based Prior Deformation (CAPD) method. CA

Class-incremental learning (CIL) has recently received increasing attention in the remote sensing scene classification field, owing to its ability to quickly learn new class knowledge while retaining old class knowledge. Nevertheless, real-world remote sensing scene data is often accompanied by a long-tail distribution phenomenon and the occurrence of unknown classes, which seriously restricts the superior performance of the existing CIL models. This paper explores a more prevalent and challenging open-set long-tailed class-incremental remote sensing scene classification (OSLT-CIRSSC) task. Th

Multispectral remote sensing object detection plays a vital role in a wide range of geoscience and remote sensing applications, such as environmental monitoring and disaster monitoring, by leveraging complementary information from RGB and infrared modalities. The performance of such systems heavily relies on the effective fusion of information across these modalities. A key challenge lies in capturing meaningful cross-modal long-range dependencies that aid object localization and identification, while simultaneously suppressing noise and irrelevant information during feature fusion to enhance

The emergence of large-scale phenotypic, genetic, and other multi-model biochemical data has offered unprecedented opportunities for drug discovery including drug repurposing. Various knowledge graph-based methods have been developed to integrate and analyze complex and heterogeneous data sources to find new therapeutic applications for existing drugs. However, existing methods have limitations in modeling and capturing context-sensitive inter-relationships among tens of thousands of biomedical entities. In this paper, we developed KG-Predict: a knowledge graph computational framework for drug

Offline handwriting functions as a practical biometric sensing modality for identity verification and controlled stress testing of recognition pipelines, yet recovering writer-specific stroke appearance from only a few enrollment samples remains difficult. In trajectory-based rendering used to probe such sensing systems, stroke width is often fixed or only weakly adapted, so the sensed thickness cue fails to reflect individual writing habits. The key obstacle is an operational reliability imbalance: a learned width estimator and handcrafted geometric priors disagree in trustworthiness across w

Surface electromyography pattern recognition methods have been widely applied to decode limb movement intentions for prosthesis control. These methods generally require amputees to provide sufficient myoelectric signals from their residual limb muscles. Previous studies have shown that amputees with high level amputation or neuromuscular disorder usually do not have sufficient residual limb muscles to provide enough myoelectric signals for accurate identification of limb movements. Electroencephalography (EEG), another bioelectric signal associated with limb movements has also been proposed an

Accurate recognition of partially occluded faces remains challenging in unconstrained and real-time environments, especially under masks, partial occlusions, pose variation, and illumination changes. This study presents a controlled comparison of three hybrid multi-face recognition pipelines for robust occluded face recognition. For fair evaluation, all pipelines use the same SCRFD face detector, preprocessing protocol, Linear SVM classifier, and 60% unknown rejection threshold, while varying only the feature extractor: ResNet29, ConvNeXt, and ResNet100 with ArcFace embeddings. Accessibility-oriented sign language recognition plays an important role in intelligent human-computer interaction, but cross-subject recognition remains challenging because test signers are unseen during training. Variations in appearance, motion style, and modality quality among different signers introduce significant distribution differences between training and testing samples, limiting model generalization. Although multimodal approaches commonly assume that RGB, skeleton, and depth modalities provide complementary information, their effectiveness under cross-subject recognition remains i

As an emerging sensing modality, 4D millimeter-wave radar provides a privacy-preserving and lighting-robust solution for indoor scene perception and human action recognition (HAR). However, existing radar-based HAR methods mainly focus on short-term motion dynamics while overlooking the influence of indoor scene context. Furthermore, reconstructing indoor layouts from sparse and irregular radar point clouds remains challenging. To address these issues, this paper proposes an environmental context-aware radar action recognition framework (ECRAR) that jointly models human motion and indoor scene
