Globally, there is an increase in a number of bone disorders including osteoarthritis (OA), osteomyelitis, bone cancer, and etc., which has led to a demand for bone tissue regeneration. In order to take use of the osteogenic potential of natural herbs, mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) have the ability to deliver therapeutically active chemicals locally. MBGNs influence bioactivity and osteointegration of materials making them suitable for bone tissue engineering (BTE). In the present study, we developed Peganum Harmala (P. harmala) loaded MBGNs (PH-MBGNs) synthesized via modifi

Peganum harmala (L.) Schrad., a perennial medicinal plant thriving in arid Moroccan soils, represents a natural reservoir of unexplored bacterial diversity. To uncover its hidden foliar endosphere microbiota, we isolated and characterized two Acinetobacter strains: a novel endophytic bacterium, AGC35, and another strain, AGC59, newly reported from this host. Both are non-halophilic, aerobic, Gram-negative bacteria exhibiting optimal growth at 30-35 °C, pH5, and with 1% NaCl. An integrative genomic, phylogenetic, functional, and phenotypic characterization classified both strains within the gen

Huntington's disease (HD) is a relentlessly progressive neurodegenerative disease featured by the over-expanded polyglutamine (polyQ)-induced protein aggregation. Using Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) as a model system, we show that water soluble polysaccharide extracted from the herb Peganum harmala L. (PS1) not only reduces polyQ aggregation but also alleviates the associated neurotoxicity. Genetic and pharmacologic analysis suggested that PS1 treatment acts though proteasome-mediated protein degradation pathway to inhibit polyQ aggregation. Notably, the efficacy of PS1 is aroused specif

The present study describes the eco-friendly synthesis and multifunctional investigation of a Peganum harmala leaf extract-mediated PVA/ZnO@β-CD nanocomposite. The synthesised nanocomposite was characterised by UV-Vis, FTIR, and XRD analyses, which confirmed the formation of crystalline ZnO NPs within the PVA/β-CD network. The UV-Vis absorption peak at 354.34 nm indicated quantum confinement effects, while FTIR spectra verified Zn-O bond formation and strong intermolecular interactions among ZnO, β-CD, and PVA. XRD patterns demonstrated the hexagonal wurtzite structure of ZnO with nanoscale cr
