Low-dose drug combinations have been proposed in International Guidelines for use in patients with hypertension. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors have been shown to reduce morbidity and mortality in patients with heart failure. We investigated the effects of an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor and an angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker on cardiac hypertrophy in rats with renovascular hypertension. BACKGROUND/INTRODUCTION: Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) represents a major global health burden, accounting for approximately half of all heart failure cases and characterized by high mortality, frequent hospitalizations, and progressive cardiac remodeling.
