Comparative Evaluation of Microwave- and Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction of Antioxidants from Parsley (Petroselinum crispum (Mill.) Fuss) and Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) Processing By-Products.

Aromatic-herb processing generates large volumes of residues that remain rich in bioactive compounds yet are seldom valorised. This study compared the recovery of phenolic compounds and antioxidant capacity from parsley and coriander processing by-products under a fully crossed design combining two extraction methods (microwave-assisted; ultrasound-assisted), two temperatures (60 and 80 °C), two times (15 and 30 min) and three solvents (water, 50% ethanol, and 80% ethanol (v/v)). For each condition, four separate extractions were performed and combined into a single pooled extract, which was a

Combined bioactive PVA nanofibrous scaffolds loaded with Zn ascorbate MOFs and Petroselinum crispum (Parsley) extract for enhanced in-vitro and in-vivo wound healing applications.

Wounds damage the skin, mucosal membranes, or underlying tissues, disrupting normal structure and function. Natural therapeutic agents, particularly plant extracts, have been widely used in wound management due to their antimicrobial and regenerative properties. Here, we report a novel multifunctional wound dressing by integrating Petroselinum crispum (parsley, PS) extract and zinc ascorbate-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) into a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanofibrous matrix. The resulting MOF/PS-loaded PVA nanofibers (NFs) combine biodegradability, biocompatibility, and enhanced bioactivit

Effect of parsley (Petroselinum crispum (Mill.) Nym. ex A.W. Hill, Apiaceae) extracts on some biochemical parameters of oxidative stress in mice treated with CCl(4).

The in vitro and in vivo antioxidant activity of different extracts of leaves and root of parsley (Petroselinum crispum (Mill.) Nym. ex A.W. Hill, Apiaceae) were studied. Free radical scavenging capacity (RSC) was evaluated measuring the scavenging activity on the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil (DPPH) and OH radicals. Also, the effects on lipid peroxidation (LP) were evaluated. The results obtained showed that all examined extracts act as good scavengers of DPPH and OH radicals and reduce the intensity of LP. The in vivo effects were evaluated on some antioxidant systems (activities of LPx, GSH

Burns induced by plants.

Plants of the family Umbelliferae are known to cause a phytophotodermatitis due to a phototoxic reaction caused by furocoumarin (psoralens) and simultaneous exposure to sunlight. We report four patients with partial skin thickness burns, induced by this phototoxic reaction. One occurred after contact with parsley (Apium petroselinum) and three others after contact with giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) and simultaneous exposure to sunlight.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Cu(2+) and Monitoring of Hg(2+) and Ni(2+) in some Iranian Vegetables Using 6-(2-Naphthyl)-2, 3-Dihydro-as-triazine-3-thione.

Recently, 6-(2-naphthyl)-2, 3-dihydro-as-triazine-3-thione (NDTT) was synthesized in laboratory and used successfully for the spectrophotometric determination of nanogram levels of Cu(2+) in aqueous solution. This reagent forms a specific red complex with Cu(2+) ions after the extraction by chloroform at alkaline pH. The absorption of the complex in the UV region (313 nm) is about 8 times as strong as in the visible one (510 nm). Mercury and nickel ions form yellow complexes with NDTT under the same conditions which interfere in the UV region and without effect on Cu (II) absorbance in the vis

Parallel online determination of ethylene release rate by Shaken Parsley cell cultures using a modified RAMOS device.

BACKGROUND: Ethylene is an important plant hormone that controls many physiological processes in plants. Conventional methods for detecting ethylene include gas chromatographs or optical mid-infrared sensors, which are expensive and, in the case of gas chromatographs, are hardly suitable for automated parallelized online measurement. Electrochemical ethylene sensors are cheap but often suffer from poor resolution, baseline drifting, and target gas oxidation. Thus, measuring ethylene at extremely low levels is challenging. RESULTS: This report demonstrates the integration of electrochemical et
