Ferula persica wild (Apiaceae) is a perennial herb indigenous to Iran. It has been used in folk medicine for treatment of diabetes, lowering of blood pressure and for antispasmodic, carminative, laxative and expectorant effects in central Iran. Dried ground roots of F. persica (150 g) were extracted sequentially with n-hexane, dichloromethane and methanol (MeOH), 500 ml each, using a Soxhlet apparatus. The n-hexane extract of the roots (3 g) was subjected to vacuum liquid chromatography on silica gel, eluting with solvent mixtures of increasing polarity: 100% n-hexane-ethyl acetate (EtOAc), to

BACKGROUND: Communities dominated by Artemisia arenaria DC. are widely distributed in the sandy massifs of northern deserts of the Turan lowland, where they perform landscape-forming, relief-stabilising functions. Despite its ecological importance, A. arenaria remains insufficiently studied in Kazakhstan, in particular with regard to its phytochemical properties and raw material reserves in the Northern Aral Sea region. Therefore, this study focuses on the preliminary assessment of the resource potential and essential oil composition of the aboveground parts of A. arenaria in this region.

Athyrium yokoscense is hypertolerant to cadmium (Cd) and can grow normally under a high Cd concentration despite Cd being a highly toxic heavy metal. To mitigate Cd stress in general plant species, Cd is promptly chelated with a thiol compound and is isolated into vacuoles. Generated active oxygen species (ROS) in the cytoplasm are removed by reduced glutathione. However, we found many differences in the countermeasures in A. yokoscense. Thiol compounds accumulated in the stele of the roots, although a long-term Cd exposure induced Cd accumulation in the aerial parts. Synchrotron radiation-bas

Small ruminant production under grazing conditions plays a crucial role in the global primary sector economy. However, these animals are highly susceptible to gastrointestinal nematodes (GINs), which significantly impact their health and welfare. Given the increasing resistance to conventional anthelmintics, there is a pressing need to explore sustainable alternatives, such as plant secondary metabolites. This study aimed to identify phenolic compounds with anthelmintic activity from Tithonia diversifolia aerial parts, using Haemonchus contortus as a biological model. Egg hatching inhibition (

Nematodes are considered as major plant parasites damaging most of the crops, and neem plant exhibits potential nematicidal and insecticidal properties. This study aimed to check nemato-toxic potential of neem (Azadirachta indica) plant using in vitro and in-planta trials against Meloidogyne incognita. The findings suggested that the neem extracts were lethal to second-stage juvenile (J2) and egg hatching with simultaneous enhancement in treated tomato plant growth. The egg numbers of M. incognita found less sensitive to the aqueous and alcoholic extracts than those of J2 as per LC50 values. C
