Reported cases of angular pregnancy, which by definition corresponds to pregnancy developing in a uterine horn, are rare. Etiologies as well as the diagnostic and therapeutic strategies are discussed. The anatomic modifications resulting from uterine fibromyoma and affecting embryo nidation in the uterine cavity of the uterus are the leading cause of angular pregnancy. The course of pregnancy depends on the evolution of the fibromyoma. Treatment therefore depends on the clinical course. Early diagnosis is essential for conservative treatment. In the case presented here, angular pregnancy was d

Angular pregnancies are rare, high-risk pregnancy complications in which the embryo implants in the angle of the uterus. The diagnosis is made by ultrasound to be distinguished from a myometrial or cornual pregnancy. We present a 31-year-old female who presented to the clinic for confirmation of pregnancy and spotting in the days prior to her appointment. The patient was followed closely in the week following her diagnosis until the pregnancy aborted. We discuss various risk factors, management options, and outcomes of patients with angular pregnancies. This case adds to the paucity of literat

STUDY OBJECTIVE: Angular pregnancy is a rare and life-threatening condition in which the embryo is implanted in the lateral angle of the uterine cavity, medial to the uterotubal junction and round ligament. Angular pregnancy is associated with a high risk of uterine rupture of about 23% [1]. No consensus has been achieved regarding the diagnostic and therapeutic approach of angular pregnancy [2]. Thus, the aim of this study was to report a case of hysteroscopic treatment of an angular pregnancy in a 34-year-old women.
DESIGN: Step-by-step video presentation of the surgical treatment (Canadian

BACKGROUND: In clinical practice it is an ongoing challenge to distinguish between angular pregnancy and interstitial pregnancy. With the three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) being increasingly used, it is worth exploring its role in differentiating angular pregnancy from interstitial pregnancy. This study aims to investigate how 3D MRI can help reveal the differences between these two special pregnancies in the early diagnosis.
METHODS: We reviewed and analyzed the 3D MRI images of 50 patients with interstitial pregnancy and 55 patients with angular pregnancy retrospective

Angular pregnancy is the rare condition in which the gestational sac is implanted in the lateral angle of the uterine cavity. There have been several reports on angular pregnancies; however, due to a lack of clinical understanding, angular pregnancy does not appear to be recognized as a clinical entity and many cases are likely to go undiagnosed. This report involves two women with angular pregnancies: one had placenta abruption and the other had preterm delivery at mid-trimester and postpartum endometritis. The former was diagnosed early with Three-dimensional sonography, but the other was no

Angular pregnancy is an exceedingly rare diagnosis, with less than 100 reported cases. Angular pregnancy is important to distinguish from ectopic pregnancies due to the fact that they have the potential to be viable while true ectopic pregnancies do not. As such, angular pregnancy requires starkly different management. Inappropriate use of the terms angular, interstitial, and cornual indicates a general misunderstanding of what makes these diagnoses unique. Misunderstanding leads to misdiagnosis and consequent mismanagement. Our experience with cases of women with angular and interstitial ecto

OBJECTIVE: Interstitial, angular and corneal pregnancies are not very frequent and often mistaken, each with its own definition and prognosis. The objective of this work is to relate 10 years experience of ectopic pregnancies at the UH in Dijon, based on the latest data from the literature in term of diagnosis, management and subsequent fertility.
METHOD: This is a retrospective study carried out at the UH of Dijon from 01/01/2005 to 01/01/2015. From the medical records of each patient who presented a corneal, interstitial or angular pregnancy, we identified the risk factors for ectopic pregn

The terms "cornual," "interstitial," and "angular" pregnancies are used inconsistently in the literature. Some sources use "interstitial" and "cornual" synonymously, while others reserve "cornual" for gestations in bicornuate or septate uteri; others distinguish interstitial from angular pregnancy, while in practice, many physicians are unfamiliar with the latter designation. This article aims to clarify the terms and review the literature with respect to diagnosis and prognosis, with attention to the potential roles of 3D ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging.

OBJECTIVES: To provide recommendations for management of interstitial and ovarian pregnancies.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A Medline search was conducted and discussed by a study group of experts.
RESULTS: Ovarian and interstitial pregnancies are rare forms of ectopic pregnancy. Diagnostic criteria and methods are described on the basis of a review of the literature. Surgery is the usual management of interstitial pregnancy. Conservative treatment has replaced hysterectomy. Laparoscopy is an attractive way to manage interstitial pregnancies but laparotomy may still be used. Cornual resection is r

Heterotopic pregnancy is a rare, difficult to diagnose and life-threatening pathology, which requires timely decisions made by an experienced multidisciplinary team. In this type of multiple pregnancy there are both intrauterine and ectopic pregnancies present. Its incidence increases in pregnancies conceived by assisted reproductive technology or in pregnancies with ovulation induction. This article presents an angular heterotopic pregnancy case in a 34-year-old multigravida. The patient was admitted on the 14th week of gestation due to abdominal pain on the left side with suspicion of hetero

This is a case report of a 32-year-old woman, being treated for secondary infertility, with history of previous ectopic pregnancy, who presented to the emergency obstetrical room in a state of hypovolemic shock. A diagnosis of ruptured ectopic pregnancy was confirmed in view of history of 14 weeks amenorrhea with a positive urine pregnancy test and positive colpopunture. She was immediately shifted for an emergency exploratory laparotomy. Intraoperatively, the authors were surprised to encounter a right lateral wall rupture uterus and ~14 weeks foetus with the placenta lying freely in the peri

BACKGROUND: Angular placentation may be a cause of retained placenta and may require hysterotomy.
CASE: A 33-year-old woman with a prior cesarean section underwent an uncomplicated vaginal delivery, had a retained placenta with postpartum hemorrhage and required hysterotomy because the placenta was inaccessible due to its angular location.
CONCLUSION: Antepartum ultrasound diagnosis may be possible in some cases of angular placentation.

OBJECTIVE: Angular and interstitial pregnancies have been reported with live births and are often complicated by adherent placentas. Most cases had been treated with hysterectomy or corneal resection.
CASE REPORT: We successfully treated four patients with conservative management (including one reported previously). Case 1 had a vaginal delivery, but the placenta remained attached. We maintained the patient under observation and delivered the placenta on postpartum day 9. Case 2 underwent a C-section. Uterine artery embolization controlled the hemorrhage without placenta removal. The placenta

Angular pregnancy is a rare entity which is commonly confused with interstitial or cornual pregnancies. A lack of consensus about the specific ultrasound features of these 3 entities leads to inappropriate interchange between them among the literature. An angular pregnancy should be considered as a potentially viable intra-uterine eccentric pregnancy as it might be carried to term and result in a live-born baby whereas interstitial or cornual pregnancies should be considered as ectopic pregnancies which should be interrupted. We report here two cases of women at 8 weeks of pregnancy with an an

OBJECTIVE: Interstitial pregnancy occurs in the intramural segment of the Fallopian tubes, while angular pregnancy is one that is located in one of the lateral angles of the uterine cavity. The differential diagnosis and treatment of these conditions are important. We have used saline infusion sonohysterography (SIS) to help in differential diagnosis.
CASE REPORT: A 36-year-old female with a case of suspected left interstitial ectopic pregnancy was admitted. Her diagnostic laparoscopy showed no tubal ectopic pregnancy, and D&C demonstrated no villi. She underwent SIS which showed a sac in the

It can be difficult to distinguish an interstitial pregnancy from an angular pregnancy because of the close proximity of the implantation sites. The difference in pregnancy outcomes between interstitial and angular pregnancies makes this distinction very important. A 39-year-old gravida 7 para 4 who had undergone a laparoscopic right salpingo-oophorectomy (RSO) one year ago and a pregnancy termination via dilation and curettage (D&C) three weeks ago was suspected to have a ruptured right interstitial or angular pregnancy. The patient underwent a laparoscopic total hysterectomy. The postoperati

BACKGROUND: Angular-interstitial pregnancy is a rare and potentially dangerous occurrence of ectopic pregnancy for which appropriate treatment has not been established.
METHODS: A 41-year-old woman with a history of ectopic pregnancy was treated with a combined regimen of conservative treatment comprising medical therapy with methotrexate and a minimally invasive laparoscopic-assisted surgical approach. Results The patient had an unremarkable postoperative course and was discharged after 32 hours. A transvaginal ultrasound scan control 2 weeks later revealed a normal uterine wall, with normal
