Prostate Artery Embolization in the Treatment of Massive Intractable Bleeding from Prostatic Neoplasms: A Case Report and Systematic Review.

Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and hematuria are common symptoms in men with neoplasms, mainly affecting the elderly population. Prostatic arterial embolization (PAE) is a minimally invasive procedure that has shown promising results in managing LUTS and massive intractable prostatic hematuria in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer (PCa). A few studies, however, have provided valuable insights into the durability and efficacy of PAE focusing on the long-term effectiveness, quality of life, and cancer-specific control of hemostasis and urinary symptoms. [Serum antibody levels of cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex type I and adenovirus in patients with benign or malignant prostatic neoplasms].

The serum antibody titers of cytomegalovirus (CMV), Herpes Simplex Type I (HSV-L) and Adenovirus (ADV) were detected by complement fixation technique in 40 patients with benign hyperplasia of prostate (BPH), and prostatic carcinoma. The control group consisted of healthy 20 military personnel. While, antibody levels of CMV and HSV-I was found to be elevated in BPH, the titers of ADV was elevated in protatic cancer patients. The verify the relation between virus-prostatic cancer relation further clinical and laboratory researchers are needed.

Mesenchymal Neoplasms of the Prostate and Seminal Vesicles: Spectrum of Disease with Radiologic-Pathologic Correlation.

There is a wide spectrum of benign and malignant mesenchymal neoplasms of the prostate, which account for less than 1% of all prostatic tumors. These include distinctive tumors that arise from the specialized prostatic stroma and site-agnostic neoplasms such as smooth muscle tumors, fibrous or myofibroblastic neoplasms, neurogenic tumors, vascular tumors, and a plethora of sarcomas. Select tumors show classic sites of origin within the prostate. While stromal tumors of uncertain malignant potential (STUMPs) commonly involve the peripheral zone at the prostate base, leiomyomas typically origina

Virtual in vivo biopsy map of early prostate neoplasm in TRAMP mice by MRI.

BACKGROUND: The noninvasive, early detection of Prostate Intraepithelial Neoplasia (PIN), a precancerous neoplasia of the prostate, would be highly desirable. In our experiments, we used TRAMP mice to model PIN in the range of grade 1 through grade 4. METHODS: Contrast enhanced pixel-by-pixel R1 mapping of the prostate was used to detect areas with the different prostate neoplasia grades. After anesthesia, Gd(ABE-DTTA) was injected I.V. A series of MRI images with varying TI were then acquired to create R1 maps in a 2 mm transversal tomographic slice that included the prostate. After euthanas

Changing pattern of expression of the epidermal growth factor receptor and transforming growth factor alpha in the progression of prostatic neoplasms.

The autocrine/paracrine interaction of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFr) and transforming growth factor alpha (TGF-alpha) has been implicated in prostate cancer cell growth and proliferation. To evaluate the role of EGFr and TGF-alpha in prostate cancer progression, we studied the immunohistochemical staining pattern of EGFr and TGF-alpha in malignant primary and hormone-independent metastatic prostate lesions. The specimens evaluated included 37 primary carcinomas (34 hormone-naive and 3 hormone-refractory tumors) and 22 metastases. For each specimen, the pattern of expression was e

Prostate cancer patients may have an increased risk of coexisting advanced colorectal neoplasms.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Patients being treated for prostate cancer (PCa) have an increased risk of developing colorectal cancer. However, whether PCa patients are inherently at a higher risk of colorectal neoplasms (CRNs) is unknown. We aimed to investigate the risk of CRNs in PCa patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients who had been diagnosed with PCa at a tertiary medical center and had colonoscopy within 1 year of the PCa diagnosis were investigated. Patients were propensity-matched 1:2 by age and body mass index to asymptomatic control subjects who had undergone colonoscopy for routine health s

A Rare Case of Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm of the Biliary Duct in a Patient with Prostate Adenocarcinoma.

Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) are mucin-producing papillary neoplasms of the pancreatic or biliary ductal system that exhibit variable cellular atypia and cause ductal dilation. There are few reported cases of IPMN arising from the biliary tree in the literature. It has a higher propensity to undergo malignant transformation compared to IPMN arising from the pancreatic duct. An 80-year-old male underwent cross-sectional tomography (CT) imaging of the abdomen for evaluation of prostate adenocarcinoma, which revealed an incidental 2.3 × 2.7 cm soft tissue mass centered at the

Single testicular metastasis mimicking primary testicular neoplasm: a rare manifestation of prostate cancer.

The incidence of secondary testicular tumors ranges from 0.02 to 2.5% among autopsies in general. With the exception of leukemias and lymphomas, prostate cancer is the most common primary site. It is diagnosed in autopsies or incidentally, following therapeutic orchiectomies in more advanced stages of the disease. In the present report, we show a case of testicular metastasis derived from prostate neoplasm whose clinical presentation as a single metastasis was similar to a primary testicular neoplasm. The diagnosis was evidenced after orchiectomy by histological examination and immunohistochem

Metachronous triple primary neoplasms with primary prostate cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer: A case report.

RATIONALE: Multiple primary neoplasms (MPNs) are rare. Most MPNs are double, and triple primary neoplasms are extremely rarer. Here, we describe a case of a 66-year-old man diagnosed with metachronous triple primary neoplasms with primary prostate cancer, lung cancer and colon cancer. PATIENT CONCERNS: The patient complained of dysuria in January 2015, and he underwent transurethral resection of the prostate. The pathological results showed acinar adenocarcinoma of prostate with a Gleason score of 3+3. In January 2017, he complained of lower abdominal pain, then he took an enteroscopy examina

Significance of atypical small acinar proliferation and extensive high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasm in clinical practice.

INTRODUCTION: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most commonly diagnosed neoplasms in elderly men. The precancerous lesion of PCa is considered a high-grade prostate intraepithelial neoplasm (HG-PIN), while atypical small acinar proliferation (ASAP) is commonly considered as an under-diagnosed cancer. The aim of the study was to establish the impact of ASAP and extensive HG-PIN on pre-biopsy prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels and the risk of cancer development in subsequent biopseis. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The 1,010 men suspected for PCa were included in the study based on elevated PSA, a

Synchronous quadruple primary neoplasms: glioblastoma, neuroendocrine tumor, schwannoma and sessile serrated adenoma in a patient with history of prostate cancer.

Quadruple synchronous primary neoplasms are exceedingly rare with only one case reported in the English literature. We herein report a case of synchronous quadruple primary neoplasms in a 70-year-old Arabic male with a history of prostate cancer who presented to our hospital for work-up of a brain mass found at an outside hospital. Subsequent (18)Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography demonstrated a 5.9-cm temporoparietal mass and three additional lesions, each with increased maximum standardized uptake value (SUV(max)). Fine needle aspiration of metastatic prostate carcinoma simulating a primary adrenal cortical neoplasm: a case report and review of the literature.

Adrenal metastases usually occur in prostate cancer patients with widespread bone and visceral disease. Autopsy studies have shown that adrenal metastases may be found in up to 23% of these patients. However, the finding of an isolated adrenal metastasis without the involvement of other organs in a patient with prostate cancer is exceedingly rare. Thus, it may cause a diagnostic dilemma on FNA cytology. We report a patient with a history of prostate cancer, status post radiation, and hormonal therapy 4 years before, who presented with a new, single adrenal mass on abdominal imaging studies. Th

Material deprivation, racial inequalities and mortality from female breast, prostate, and cervical neoplasm in the Brazilian adult population: an ecological study.

This article aims to identify the relationship between material deprivation and mortality from breast, cervical, and prostate neoplasms in the Brazilian adult population and the relationship between ethnicity/skin color and material deprivation. This cross-sectional ecological study calculated the mean mortality rate per 100,000 inhabitants, and deaths were standardized by age and gender and redistributed per to ill-defined causes, stratified by age group and ethnicity/skin color. We applied the Negative Binomial model, containing the interaction between ethnicity/skin color and the Brazilian

Therapy-Related Myeloid Neoplasms After [177Lu]Lu-PSMA Therapy in Patients with Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer: A Case Series.

[177Lu]Lu-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) therapy has a favorable toxicity profile in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Therapy-related myeloid neoplasm (t-MN) has been described after [177Lu]Lu-DOTATATE but has not, to our knowledge, yet been reported after [177Lu]Lu-PSMA. This case series describes 5 patients with mCRPC who developed t-MN after [177Lu]Lu-PSMA at our institution. Methods: In this single-center retrospective analysis, we reviewed all patients with mCRPC treated with [177Lu]Lu-PSMA. Patients who developed biopsy-proven t-MN during

Nine primary malignant neoplasms-involving the esophagus, stomach, colon, rectum, prostate, and external ear canal-without microsatellite instability: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Although cases of multiple primary malignant neoplasms are increasing, reports of more than three or four primary metachronous malignant neoplasms are extremely rare. Moreover, very few publications have provided a genetic mutational analysis or have evaluated risk factors associated with such neoplasms. We present an extremely rare case of nine primary malignant lesions in a man who was successfully treated. We also report on microsatellite stability status, analyze risk factors, and discuss the relevant literature. CASE PRESENTATION: Between 67 and 73 years of age, a male patien
