Students' psychological biases towards teacher and AI-generated feedback: an experimental study.

BACKGROUND: While AI-generated feedback has been promoted as a supplement to teacher feedback, recent empirical studies have consistently revealed that students prefer teacher feedback to AI-generated feedback. It remains unclear whether such preferences reflect the inherent quality of the feedback or stem from psychological biases toward the feedback source. METHOD: This study investigates the existence of psychological biases towards teacher and AI-generated feedback. An experiment was conducted with 52 advanced learners of Chinese as a second language (CSL). The subjects were randomly divid

[The effect of potable mineral waters on the hormonal and psychological status (experimental and clinical research)].

Experiments on 80 Wistar rats revealed the ability of Essentuki mineral waters to stimulate the reserves and sensitivity of the intestinal serotonin-producing system. A clinical trial on two groups of children (exposed to low-dose ionizing radiation or with posttraumatic astheno-neurotic syndrome) found out pronounced positive changes in the psychological status of the children which progressed in correlation with an increase of the blood serotonin levels.

Positive psychology instruction with embedded mindfulness exercises and associations with professional calling and self-concept clarity: a quasi-experimental study of chinese medical students.

BACKGROUND: The effects of mindfulness on personal development and positive self-related outcomes in learning and professional contexts have been studied extensively. However, the associations of positive psychology instruction with embedded mindfulness exercises with professional calling and self-concept clarity remain underexplored among medical students. METHODS: The present study examined whether participation in such instruction was associated with changes in professional calling and self-concept clarity among 105 medical students at Shandong Xiehe University. The participants were divid

Applied evolutionary psychology in moral education: a quasi-experimental study exploring the longitudinal associations of compassion training with emotion regulation and prosocial ethical development.

INTRODUCTION: Moral education increasingly requires psychologically realistic approaches that explain how students transform moral knowledge into stable prosocial action. Drawing on applied evolutionary psychology, this longitudinal study examined whether compassion-training engagement in moral education was associated with students' emotion regulation, moral identity integration, and prosocial ethical development across one academic semester. METHODS: A total of 458 undergraduates enrolled in moral education modules in Sino-foreign cooperative university contexts completed baseline, mid-seme

Psychological Profiling and Quantitative Sensory Testing Parameters as Predictors of Experimental Induced Muscle Pain.

BACKGROUND: Pain is a multifactorial problem, and several pain mechanisms are likely contributing to why an individual might experience more pain than another person. The current study aimed to investigate whether pain sensitivity, assessed by quantitative sensory testing, and psychological factors could explain individual variability in pain intensity during experimentally induced Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness (DOMS). METHODS: Demographics, psychological distress, sleep quality, pain catastrophising, bodily sensation, alexithymia, pressure pain threshold, pain tolerance threshold, tempora

Experimental research of impact on psychological state for adolescents with high-intensity interval training intervention.

INTRODUCTION: Rising social pressures have exacerbated adolescent mental health challenges, evidenced by increasing prevalence of anxiety, depression, and related disorders. High-intensity interval training (HIIT), characterized by short bursts of intense exercise interspersed with recovery periods, has emerged as a time-efficient intervention for psychological well-being. This study quantitatively evaluated the efficacy of HIIT in improving adolescent mental health using the Multidimensional Scale of Adolescent Psychological State (MSAPS), which assesses seven domains: self-esteem, energy, te

Benefits of belonging: experimental manipulation of social inclusion to enhance psychological and physiological health parameters.

OBJECTIVE: Acute changes in social belonging are important triggers for alterations in health and well-being, yet research has emphasised the negative effects of 'exclusion' at the expense of evaluating the potentially positive effects of 'inclusion'. This study examined the impact of acute belonging on physiological and psychological outcomes. DESIGN AND MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: A healthy population (N = 138) were randomly allocated to 'included' or 'excluded' conditions. Condition-dependent differences in pre/during-task heart rate and pre/post-task self-reports of negative/positive mood, and

Psychological and physiological reactivity to stress: an experimental study on bulimic patients, restrained eaters and controls.

BACKGROUND: Binge eating behavior in bulimic patients is thought to play a crucial role in the regulation of psychophysiological arousal in stressful situations. Previous results suggest that interpersonal stress and achievement challenge are perceived as particularly stressful by bulimic individuals. It is not clear, however, whether bulimic individuals respond to stress with an increased desire to binge, and whether this increase is accompanied by higher psychophysiological reactivity compared to healthy controls. METHODS: Twenty-seven patients with bulimia nervosa (DSM-IV), 27 restrained e

PURPOSE: Evaluate sensory and psychological differences in individuals with thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) and/or knee osteoarthritis (OA) pain. This secondary analysis focuses on comparing the effects of OA at large and small joints in community-dwelling adults. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 434 individuals were recruited from communities in Gainesville, FL and Birmingham, AL. Each participant completed health and clinical history questionnaires, quantitative sensory testing, and physical functional tests. Participants were divided into four groups based on their pain ("CMC pain" (n = 33), "

Psychological Effects of Heart Rate and Physical Vibration on the Operation of Construction Machines: Experimental Study.

BACKGROUND: A construction method has emerged in which a camera is installed around a construction machine, and the operator remotely controls the machine while synchronizing the vibration of the machine with the images seen from the operator's seat using virtual reality (VR) technology. Indices related to changes in heart rate (HR) and physical vibration, such as heart rate variability (HRV) and multiscale entropy (MSE), can then be measured among the operators. As these indices are quantitative measures of autonomic regulation in the cardiovascular system, they can provide a useful means of

Experimental occlusal disharmony - A promoting factor for anxiety in rats under chronic psychological stress.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Clinically, patients under chronic psychological stress (PS) appear to be more susceptible to occlusal disharmony (OD) compared with those without PS. OD was proved to introduce anxiety-like stress. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to investigate whether OD would affect psychological stress-induced anxiety and its underlying mechanisms. METHODS: Chronic PS was induced by a communication box, and OD was produced by bonding a 0.3mm-thick crown on the right maxillary first molar of male Sprague-Dawley rats. Sixty-seven rats were randomly divided into 8 groups: (A)

Impacts of psychological stress on high dose-rate radiation acute effects in a mouse experimental model.

Psychological stress affects health. Radiation workers in the medical field or astronauts living in space have possible risks of exposure to radiation, and psychological stress is considered to be easily induced in them due to activities performed in small areas or stress conditions. The impact of psychological stress on the effects of radiation was evaluated in senescence-accelerated mouse prone 10 (SAMP10) mice and ddY mice using a confrontational housing model, which makes dominant and subordinate mice in a cage live together without severe quarrel. Mice of ddY and SAMP10 have been previous

Psychological factors predict local and referred experimental muscle pain: a cluster analysis in healthy adults.

BACKGROUND: Recent studies suggest an underlying three- or four-factor structure explains the conceptual overlap and distinctiveness of several negative emotionality and pain-related constructs. However, the validity of these latent factors for predicting pain has not been examined. METHODS: A cohort of 189 (99 female, 90 male) healthy volunteers completed eight self-report negative emotionality and pain-related measures (Eysenck Personality Questionnaire - Revised, Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Pain Catastrophizing Scale, Fear of Pain Questionnaire; So

Worry wart: A preregistered, experimental investigation of worry-induced emotional eating and associated psychological characteristics.

Perseverative cognition (e.g., worry, rumination) is cross-sectionally associated with disordered eating behaviors and negative affect; yet little research has examined its causal role in emotional eating (EE). The current preregistered experimental study tested the influence of one type of perseverative cognition-worry-on objectively measured food consumption in the laboratory. A total of 129 undergraduate students (67.4 % cisgender women, AgeM = 19.87) were screened via a semi-structured diagnostic interview and randomly assigned to either a worry induction or control condition.
