Improving Radiology Report Error Detection Using a Multipass Large Language Model: Framework Development and Validation.

BACKGROUND: Large language model (LLM) proofreaders for radiology reports generate many false positives (FPs) due to the low prevalence of errors. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine whether an optimized LLM framework could improve both precision and cost-efficiency without compromising error detection capability. METHODS: In this retrospective study, 1000 radiology reports (radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging; 250 each) were sampled from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care III database. Two public chest radiography corpora (CheX

Ditching the Disc: The Effects of Cloud-Based Image Sharing on Department Efficiency and Report Turnaround Times in Mammography.

In screening mammography, accessing prior examination images is crucial for accurate diagnosis and avoiding false-positives. When women visit multiple institutions for their screens, these "outside" examinations must be retrieved for comparison. Traditionally, prior images are obtained by faxing requests to other institutions and waiting for standard mail (film or CD-ROM), which can greatly delay report turnaround times. Recently, advancements in cloud-based image transfer technology have opened up more efficient options for examination transfer between institutions. The objective of this stud

Technical architecture for integrating vision-language models with DICOM viewers.

Integrating vision-language models (VLMs) into clinical radiology workflows requires exporting two-dimensional images that preserve diagnostic viewing context, including imaging plane, slice position, window/level, slab parameters, and overlays. Existing approaches typically rely on ad hoc screenshots and external uploads, which discard this context, reduce reproducibility, and introduce workflow friction through task switching. We describe a radiology viewer architecture that maintains model interaction entirely within the diagnostic environment by serializing explicit viewer state into repla

DICOM datasets for reproducible neuroimaging research across manufacturers and software versions.

DICOM is an industry-standard for medical imaging data targeted at interoperability across systems. This enables transfer, storage and processing of imaging data regardless of the manufacturer. Pragmatically, manufacturers often store detailed acquisition parameters in private rather than public DICOM tags. In parallel, the DICOM standard itself has gradually evolved by introducing new public tags and properties to better capture emerging imaging technologies. Accurately extracting these details is essential for reproducible neuroimaging research. To address this need, we created a series of D

Privacy Leakage in Federated Learning in Radiology Reports: Comparative Evaluation of Tokenizer and Batch-Size Privacy Risks.

BACKGROUND: Federated learning (FL) enables multi-institutional model training on clinical text without sharing raw data; however, gradient inversion methods can reconstruct sensitive information from shared model updates. The extent of such privacy leakage in FL applied to radiology reports, and the role of tokenizer design, remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to quantify gradient-based reconstruction of radiology report text in an FL setting and to compare privacy risk across 3 transformer tokenization strategies in a controlled, tokenizer-aware evaluation. METHODS: Six FL clients

Breast imaging reporting and data system (BI-RADS) or French "classification ACR" What tool for what use? A point of view.

The American College of Radiology Task Force on Breast Cancer published in 2003 the fourth edition of BI-RADS for Mammography. It is a lexicon of mammography terms including illustrations of each feature described, followed by a reporting format with assessment categories according to the degree of concern. The aim is to reduce inconsistencies in mammography reports and recommendations for assessment, to facilitate outcome monitoring and to allow each radiologist to audit his own mammography practice. In France, the Société Française de Radiologie acquired the rights to translate BI-RADS, word

How many people does it take to operate a picture archiving and communication system?

The most frequently asked question without a correct answer is: "Just how many people does it take to operate a picture archiving and communication system (PACS)?" At Texas Children's Hospital, our consensus is that we do not yet know. As soon as we felt we had adequate staffing to provide timely response for routine services, we found that including the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) increased our demand for urgent response beyond our capacity. The addition of inpatient bedside imaging to PACS also increased the demand for round-the-clock and weekend PACS services. Our answer to the staffing que

Solid tumors of the peritoneum, omentum, and mesentery in children: radiologic-pathologic correlation: from the radiologic pathology archives.

Intraperitoneal solid tumors are far less common in children than in adults, and the histologic spectrum of neoplasms of the peritoneum and its specialized folds in young patients differs from that in older patients. Localized masses may be caused by inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor, Castleman disease, mesenteric fibromatosis, or other mesenchymal masses. Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor is a mesenchymal tumor of borderline biologic potential that appears as a solitary circumscribed mass, possibly with central calcification. Castleman disease is an idiopathic lymphoproliferative disorder t
