Single-case design interventions for deaf disabled students: a systematic literature review.

This systematic review examined single-case design (SCD) interventions for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students with co-occurring disabilities (i.e., who are Deaf Disabled). Ten peer-reviewed studies met the inclusion criteria, targeting communication, behavior, or academic outcomes. Behavioral interventions demonstrated more durable generalization, while academic gains often required continued reinforcement. Study quality evaluated using Horner et al.'s indicators revealed two high-quality studies, four acceptable, and four below minimum standards, indicating notable methodological limitations.

The effect of an EEG neurofeedback intervention for corneal neuropathic pain: A single-case experimental design with multiple baselines.

Corneal neuropathic pain is a complex condition, rarely responsive to current treatments. This trial investigated the potential effect of a novel home-based self-directed EEG neurofeedback intervention on corneal neuropathic pain using a multiple-baseline single-case experimental design. Four Participants completed a predetermined baseline of 7, 10, 14, and 17 days, randomly assigned to each participant, followed by 20 intervention sessions over four weeks. Two one-week follow-ups occurred immediately and five weeks post-intervention during which participants were encouraged to practice mental

Alloantibody Identification: The Importance of Temperature, Strength Reaction and Enzymes-A Practical Approach.

Red blood cell (RBC) alloimmunization and antibodies formation against non-self antigens on red cells may occur after blood transfusion, pregnancies or other exposures. The RBC alloimmunization rate varies from 2% to 6% according to recent studies. The antibody screen is performed to identify or confirm the presence of antibodies in patient's serum or plasma, as a preoperative or pretransfusion test. The antibody identification process and major crossmatch are critical steps of risk management in transfusion medicine. The aim of this article is to describe a flow chart of the antibody identifi

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) for Refractory Psychiatric Symptoms in Huntington's Disease: A Case Series and Review of the Literature.

BACKGROUND: Huntington's disease (HD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by involuntary movements and neuropsychiatric decline. With suicide rates five times higher in patients with HD compared to the general population, there is a need for further research into the management of affective symptoms in these patients. Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) has been long used as a treatment for severe or medication-refractory mood disorders and catatonia. There are some case studies demonstrating ECT's positive effect on depression and agitation in HD, but the data is limited. OB

The effectiveness of an adapted modular CBT training for youth with depressive symptoms: a study protocol for an n-of-1 trial.

BACKGROUND: The prevalence of depressive symptoms among youth seems to be increasing. Depression among youth is associated with poorer academic performance and social relationships. Preventive interventions for youth with elevated depressive symptoms are essential. The STARr training was found to reduce depressive symptoms in youth; however, it was too linguistic and could be enhanced in terms of gender and cultural background. This study will examine whether a simplified, adapted modular CBT training (STARr 2.0) is effective in reducing depressive symptoms and co-occurring anxiety symptoms am

Cortical intermittent theta burst stimulation and neurogenic bladder management after traumatic incomplete spinal cord injury: A case report.

CONTEXT: Neurogenic bladder is one of the major complications of spinal cord injury (SCI). Due to inadequate, ill-timed intervention, it can be lethal and lead to chronic case of renal calculus, renal failure or recurrent urinary tract infections. Intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) is a patterned, non-invasive transcranial magnetic stimulation procedure that can improve the functional status of patients with SCI by manipulating cortico-spinal plasticity. Trans spinal magnetic stimulation has shown transient improvement in establishing voluntary urination and specific bladder parameter

Intraoperative Hyperspectral Imaging for Perfusion Assessment and Emerging Decision Support in Abdominal Surgery: A Systematic Review of Clinical Studies.

Background and Objectives: Intraoperative assessment of tissue perfusion remains a decisive but imperfect step in abdominal surgery. Surgeons still rely heavily on visual judgement when choosing bowel transection lines, constructing anastomoses, judging intestinal viability, or assessing graft reperfusion, even though these decisions are directly linked to anastomotic leak, conduit ischemia, postoperative liver dysfunction, and graft failure. Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) is an emerging contrast-free optical technology that generates quantitative maps of tissue oxygenation, hemoglobin distributi

Topics and signs: defensive control of emotional expression.

This single-case study examined frank disclosure of important topics in a brief exploratory psychotherapy, including topics closely related to a recent, unintegrated stressor life event. Quantitative measures of emotion and control variables showed heightened levels of both emotionally and defensive control during discourse on the topic of the stressor event. In future studies, such measures of verbal and nonverbal signs of emotional expression and defensive control might be used to identify topics in an unresolved state.

Neural subspaces of imagined movements in parietal cortex remain stable over several years in humans.

Objective.A crucial goal in brain-machine interfacing is the long-term stability of neural decoding performance, ideally without regular retraining. Long-term stability has only been previously demonstrated in non-human primate experiments and only in primary sensorimotor cortices. Here we extend previous methods to determine long-term stability in humans by identifying and aligning low-dimensional structures in neural data.Approach.Over a period of 1106 and 871 d respectively, two participants completed an imagined center-out reaching task. The longitudinal accuracy between all day pairs was

Review of Published Bitter Orange Extract and p-Synephrine Adverse Event Clinical Study Case Reports.

p-Synephrine is the primary active ingredient in bitter orange (Citrus aurantium) extract and is present in other citrus species. This review summarizes all known case reports that have been published regarding adverse events associated with multi-ingredient dietary supplements containing bitter orange extract. A common characteristic of all the case studies was the assumption that if bitter orange extract is listed on the label of the product it is the most likely cause of any adverse effect, although in no case was the presence of p-synephrine determined or a direct link demonstrated. No cas
