[Social factors in the epidemiology of intestinal infections].

Epidemiological regularities of individual intestinal infections--morbidity dynamics, the spread along the territory among the urban and rural population, seasonality--were conditioned not only by biological peculairities of the causative agents, but also but the influence of the social factors on the formation of the epidemic process.

Social Factors Associated With Congenital Syphilis in Missouri.

BACKGROUND: Congenital syphilis disproportionately affects individuals impacted by adverse social determinants of health. Understanding these determinants may help facilitate holistic care. METHODS: We performed a retrospective review of mother-infant dyads with potential congenital syphilis in a Missouri hospital system. Cases were classified per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention clinical scenarios. Information was collected regarding demographics, prenatal care, substance use, and other social factors. Dyads with confirmed/highly probable or possible congenital syphilis ("congenita

Psychological and social factors in coronary heart disease.

More than six decades of empirical research have shown that psychosocial risk factors like low socio-economic status, lack of social support, stress at work and family life, depression, anxiety, and hostility contribute both to the risk of developing coronary heart disease (CHD) and the worsening of clinical course and prognosis in patients with CHD. These factors may act as barriers to treatment adherence and efforts to improve life-style in patients and populations. In addition, distinct psychobiological mechanisms have been identified, which are directly involved into the pathogenesis of CH

Social phobia: an analysis of possible developmental factors.

Sixty-eight individuals with specific or generalized social phobia and 25 normal controls were assessed for presence of a family history of anxiety, childhood shyness, traumatic conditioning experiences, neuroticism, and extraversion. Subtype differences emerged, including significantly greater neuroticism and a more frequent history of shyness in the generalized subtype. Those with the generalized subtype also had significantly lower extraversion scores, and those with the specific subtype had a significantly higher frequency of traumatic conditioning episodes. Together, traumatic conditionin

Associations of familial risk factors with social fears and social phobia: evidence for the continuum hypothesis in social anxiety disorder?

We examined parental psychopathology and family environment in subthreshold and DSM-IV threshold conditions of social anxiety disorder (SAD) in a representative cohort sample of 1,395 adolescents. Offspring and parental psychopathology was assessed using the DIA-X/M-CIDI; recalled parental rearing and family functioning via questionnaire. Diagnostic interviews in parents were supplemented by family history reports from offspring. The cumulative lifetime incidence was 23.07% for symptomatic SAD, and 18.38 and 7.41% for subthreshold and threshold SAD, respectively. The specific parent-to-offspri

The intersection of structural social factors, loneliness, and social activity in individuals with psychotic disorders.

INTRODUCTION: People with psychotic disorders are disproportionately lonely, which is associated with negative health outcomes. Structural and subjective factors determine social connectedness, and ecological momentary assessment (EMA) enables simultaneous quantification of social activity. However, how structural factors (e.g., relationship status, living situation) and sociodemographic variables moderate the relationship between social activity and loneliness in psychosis is unknown. METHODS: N = 253 participants with a psychotic disorder completed the UCLA Loneliness Scale. Social activity

Adolescence in social context: Longitudinal associations of 15 social factors with health and well-being.

Concern is growing that social disconnection poses serious risks to health and well-being, especially for adolescents. Yet without clear evidence on which relational factors (e.g., parent-child, sibling, romantic, and friend relationships; connectedness to families, schools, and neighborhoods) matter most, designing effective, developmentally attuned interventions remains difficult. To address this question, we used data from a large, nationally representative sample of U.S. adolescents (Add Health) and an outcome-wide approach to prospectively test whether one-year changes (between Wave I: 19

Structural relationship of the social-ecological factors and psychological factors on physical activity.

The present study examines the mediating effect of psychological factors in the structural relationships between social and physical environmental factors and the amount of physical activity among undergraduate students at Universiti Sains Malaysia. The sample consisted of 422 students with a mean age of 20.2 years (SD = 1.27). The majority of the students were female (69.7%) and Malay (81.3%). Standardized scales were used to measure the total amount of physical activity and all the study variables. The final SEM had a good fit to the data: CFI = 0.968, TLI = 0.948, SRMR = 0.036, RMSEA (90%CI

Risk factors for stroke in Copenhagen, Denmark. I. Basic demographic and social factors.

The Copenhagen City Heart Study is a prospective study based on a randomly selected sample of an urban population of, initially, 19,698 participants followed since 1976. Risk factor analysis was based on the initial examination of 13,000 persons > or = 35 years old without previous stroke who responded to the first invitation. In the period 1976-1988, 696 initial cases were identified: 584 strokes, 106 transient ischemic attacks and 6 retinal-artery occlusions. We used the regression model of Cox based on a hierarchic system of risk factors that indicated the way they influence each other. Thi

Optimizing cardiac telerehabilitation programs: psychological, social, and implementation factors.

BACKGROUND: Cardiac telerehabilitation (tele-CR) uses home-based or hybrid delivery to provide multidisciplinary cardiac rehabilitation reducing travel and time barriers. However, tele-CR outcomes may be influenced by engagement, therapeutic relationships, and contextual and implementation constraints. This narrative review synthesizes evidence on psychological, social, and implementation factors that optimize tele-CR uptake, adherence, and effectiveness. METHODS: We conducted a targeted literature search in PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO, and Embase (January 2021-January 2026). We included randomi

Identifying possible influence factors for depression through social media.

BACKGROUND: Nowadays, social media provide a wealth of real-time data on emotional expression. This paper aims to explore possible influence factors for depression using internet-based data, thereby contributing references for psychological research and future depression intervention. METHODS: Posts under Weibo named "Zoufan" were crawled and manually annotated. Depression levels, personality traits and external factors reflected from these texts were classified by BERT model. Single factor analysis and unordered multinomial logistic regression analysis were conducted for the relationship bet

Demographic Factors of Nasal Bone Fractures and Social Reflection.

INTRODUCTION: The nose is the most protruding central part of the face, and nasal bone fractures are the most common of facial bone fractures, leading up to 39%. Despite its high frequency, not many studies handled the etiology of nasal bone fractures, leading to the necessity of a recent demographic study. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 1111 patients diagnosed with nasal bone fracture from 2013 to 2018 at our institute were evaluated. A retrospective review of the various demographic and etiologic characteristics was done. RESULTS: Numerous factors associated with nasal bone fractures we
