Competing Nodal d-Wave Superconductivity and Antiferromagnetism.

Competing unconventional superconductivity and antiferromagnetism widely exist in several strongly correlated quantum materials whose direct simulation generally suffers from fermion sign problem. Here, we report unbiased quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) simulations on a sign-problem-free repulsive toy model with same on site symmetries as the standard Hubbard model on a 2D square lattice. Using QMC simulations, supplemented with mean-field and continuum field-theory arguments, we find that it hosts three distinct phases: a nodal d-wave phase, an antiferromagnet, and an intervening phase which hosts

Superconductivity in highly disordered dense carbon disulfide.

High pressure plays an increasingly important role in both understanding superconductivity and the development of new superconducting materials. New superconductors were found in metallic and metal oxide systems at high pressure. However, because of the filled close-shell configuration, the superconductivity in molecular systems has been limited to charge-transferred salts and metal-doped carbon species with relatively low superconducting transition temperatures. Here, we report the low-temperature superconducting phase observed in diamagnetic carbon disulfide under high pressure. The supercon

Nonlinear Superconducting Magnetoelectric Effect.

Supercurrent flow can induce a nonvanishing spin magnetization in noncentrosymmetric superconductors with spin-orbit interaction. Often known as the nondissipative magnetoelectric effect, these are most commonly found at linear order in supercurrent flow. Here, we propose that a nonlinear superconducting magnetoelectric (NSM) effect can naturally manifest in magnet-superconductor heterostructures. In such platforms, NSM manifests as the spin polarization generated as a second-order response to a driving supercurrent. Strikingly, we find NSM survives centrosymmetry and is the leading-order magn

Chiral phonon-mediated superconductivity in alkali-doped fullerides: a unified framework connecting molecular superconductors to two-dimensional chiral superconductivity.

We argue that the Jahn-Teller phonon manifold responsible for superconductivity in alkali-doped fulleridesA3C60supports circular, chiral combinations in a symmetry-adapted basis, and that this perspective gives a clean group-theoretical account of why these materials are robusts-wave superconductors. Embedding the fivefoldHgirrep in thel=2parent representation of SO(3), we use Clebsch-Gordan algebra in the circular basis to obtain the channel weightsW(q)=3/5for allq∈{-2,-1,0,+1,+2}. The chiral channels (q≠0) carry 80% of the total coupling weight, the achiral channel (q=0) the remaining 20%, b

Superconducting state properties of Cu-substituted Fe0.99Te0.66Se0.34 exhibiting superconductivity recovered under hydrostatic pressure.

Magnetic measurements under hydrostatic pressure (P) up to 10 kbar and x-ray diffraction measurements up to 10.7 kbar were performed for a single crystal of Fe0.975Cu0.025Te0.66Se0.34, which is non-superconducting at ambient pressure. In this compound, we have found pressure-induced recovery of the superconducting state at Tc equal to 13.0 K for P = 10 kbar. We determined the parameters characterizing the superconducting state, including the lower and the upper critical fields, coherence length, and penetration depth, and compared them with those for Fe0.99Te0.66Se0.34. We found that the lower

Discovery of Nodal-Line Superconductivity in Chiral Crystals.

Chiral crystals, whose key feature is the structural handedness, host exotic quantum phenomena driven by the interplay of band topology, spin-orbit coupling (SOC), and electronic correlations. Due to the limited availability of suitable chiral-crystal materials, their unconventional superconductivity (SC) remains largely unexplored. Here, the discovery of unconventional SC in the La(Rh,Ir)Si family of materials is reported by combining muon-spin spectroscopy, band-structure calculations, and perturbation theory. This family, characterized by a double-helix chiral structure, hosts exotic multif

Coexistence of Ferromagnetism and Superconductivity at KTaO3 Heterointerfaces.

The coexistence of superconductivity and ferromagnetism is a long-standing issue in superconductivity due to the antagonistic nature of these two ordered states. Experimentally identifying and characterizing novel heterointerface superconductors that coexist with magnetism presents significant challenges. Here, we report the observation of two-dimensional long-range ferromagnetic order in a KTaO3 heterointerface superconductor, showing the coexistence of superconductivity and ferromagnetism. Remarkably, our direct current superconducting quantum interference device measurements reveal an in-pl

Emergent superconductivity in topological-kagome-magnet/metal heterostructures.

Itinerant kagome lattice magnets exhibit many novel correlated and topological quantum electronic states with broken time-reversal symmetry. Superconductivity, however, has not been observed in this class of materials, presenting a roadblock in a promising path toward topological superconductivity. Here, we report that novel superconductivity can emerge at the interface of kagome Chern magnet TbMn6Sn6 and metal heterostructures when elemental metallic thin films are deposited on either the top (001) surface or the side surfaces. Superconductivity is also successfully induced and systematically

Superconductivity in a unique type of copper oxide.

The mechanism of superconductivity in cuprates remains one of the big challenges of condensed matter physics. High-T c cuprates crystallize into a layered perovskite structure featuring copper oxygen octahedral coordination. Due to the Jahn Teller effect in combination with the strong static Coulomb interaction, the octahedra in high-T c cuprates are elongated along the c axis, leading to a 3dx 2-y 2 orbital at the top of the band structure wherein the doped holes reside. This scenario gives rise to 2D characteristics in high-T c cuprates that favor d-wave pairing symmetry. Here, we report sup

Altermagnetism-Induced Bogoliubov Fermi Surfaces Form Topological Superconductivity.

We propose a novel type of topological superconductivity based on Bogoliubov Fermi surfaces (BFSs) in an altermagnetic topological insulator proximitized by an s-wave superconductor. The 3D altermagnetic topological insulator is characterized by zero-energy surface states in bulk nodal-ring phases and anisotropically shifted surface Dirac cones in topological insulating phases. The altermagnetic order in combination with superconductivity gives rise to highly anisotropic superconducting gaps with crystal-facet-dependent BFSs at the physical boundaries. These particular BFSs provide distinct pl

Enhanced superconductivity in spin-orbit proximitized bilayer graphene.

In the presence of a large perpendicular electric field, Bernal-stacked bilayer graphene (BLG) features several broken-symmetry metallic phases1-3 as well as magnetic-field-induced superconductivity1. The superconducting state is quite fragile, however, appearing only in a narrow window of density and with a maximum critical temperature Tc ≈ 30 mK. Here we show that placing monolayer tungsten diselenide (WSe2) on BLG promotes Cooper pairing to an extraordinary degree: superconductivity appears at zero magnetic field, exhibits an order of magnitude enhancement in Tc and occurs over a density ra

Unconventional superconductivity in topological Kramers nodal-line semimetals.

Crystalline symmetry is a defining factor of the electronic band topology in solids, where many-body interactions often induce a spontaneous breaking of symmetry. Superconductors lacking an inversion center are among the best systems to study such effects or even to achieve topological superconductivity. Here, we demonstrate that TRuSi materials (with T a transition metal) belong to this class. Their bulk normal states behave as three-dimensional Kramers nodal-line semimetals, characterized by large antisymmetric spin-orbit couplings and by hourglass-like dispersions. Our muon-spin spectroscop

Topological Superconductivity Based on Antisymmetric Spin-Orbit Coupling.

Topological superconductivity (TSC) has drawn much attention for its fundamental interest and application in quantum computation. An outstanding challenge is the lack of intrinsic TSC materials with a p-wave pairing gap, which has led to the development of an effective p-wave theory of coupling s-wave gap with Rashba spin-orbit coupling (RSOC). However, the RSOC-strict mechanism and materials pose still both fundamental and practical limitations. Here, we generalize this theory to antisymmetric SOC (ASOC). Using k·p perturbation theory, we demonstrate that 2D crystals, with point groups of C2,

Superconductivity in a quintuple-layer square-planar nickelate.

Since the discovery of high-temperature superconductivity in copper oxide materials1, there have been sustained efforts to both understand the origins of this phase and discover new cuprate-like superconducting materials2. One prime materials platform has been the rare-earth nickelates and, indeed, superconductivity was recently discovered in the doped compound Nd0.8Sr0.2NiO2 (ref. 3). Undoped NdNiO2 belongs to a series of layered square-planar nickelates with chemical formula Ndn+1NinO2n+2 and is known as the 'infinite-layer' (n = ∞) nickelate. Here we report the synthesis of the quintuple-la

Room-temperature superconductivity in a carbonaceous sulfur hydride.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

One of the long-standing challenges in experimental physics is the observation of room-temperature superconductivity1,2. Recently, high-temperature conventional superconductivity in hydrogen-rich materials has been reported in several systems under high pressure3-5. An  important discovery leading to room-temperature superconductivity is the pressure-driven disproportionation of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) to H3S, with a confirmed transition temperature of 203 kelvin at 155 gigapascals3,6. Both H2S and CH4 readily mix with hydrogen to form guest-host structures at lower pressures7, and are of  comp

Novel phases and superconductivity of tin sulfide compounds.

Tin sulfides, Sn x S y , are an important class of materials that are actively investigated as novel photovoltaic and water splitting materials. A first-principles evolutionary crystal structure search is performed with the goal of constructing the complete phase diagram of Sn x S y and discovering new phases as well as new compounds of varying stoichiometry at ambient conditions and pressures up to 100 GPa. The ambient phase of SnS2 with P 3 ¯ m 1 symmetry remains stable up to 28 GPa. Another ambient phase, SnS, experiences a series of phase transformations including α-SnS to β-SnS at 9 GPa

Superconducting Quantum Interferometers for Nondestructive Evaluation.

We review stationary and mobile systems that are used for the nondestructive evaluation of room temperature objects and are based on superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs). The systems are optimized for samples whose dimensions are between 10 micrometers and several meters. Stray magnetic fields from small samples (10 µm-10 cm) are studied using a SQUID microscope equipped with a magnetic flux antenna, which is fed through the walls of liquid nitrogen cryostat and a hole in the SQUID's pick-up loop and returned sidewards from the SQUID back to the sample. Basic Cells for Reconfigurable Superconducting Kinemonics.

In all-Josephson-junction (all-JJ) logic, cell area is determined by the size of Josephson junctions, enabling intrinsically compact layouts. Tunable kinetic inductance offers a route to add circuit reconfigurability, pushing further scaling within the same all-JJ framework. In this work we present a set of basic cells for reconfigurable superconducting "kinemonics" that exploit tunable kinetic inductances of a multilayer nanostructure to realise multiple logic functions within a single compact circuit. We then combine these gates into a universal programmable logic cell consisting of only fou

Superconductivity in the high-pressure tetragonal phase of UTe2.

Electrical transport and magnetic measurements have been made on UTe2 under pressure P up to ~16 GPa to determine the superconducting transition temperature Tc vs. P phase diagram in the high-pressure tetragonal phase. Superconductivity emerges near ~5 GPa, coincident with the orthorhombic-tetragonal phase transition; in the tetragonal phase, Tc reaches a maximum value of ~4 K at 6 GPa and then decreases with P and appears to vanish near 18 GPa. Tetragonal UTe2 has a relatively small upper critical field Hc2(0) ≈ 1.2 T at 5.3 GPa, smaller than the Pauli paramagnetic limit, and is orbitally lim
