Families of 159, 4- to 8-year-old children with oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) were randomly assigned to parent training (PT); parent plus teacher training (PT + TT); child training (CT); child plus teacher training (CT + TT); parent, child, plus teacher training (PT + CT + TT); or a waiting list control. Reports and independent observations were collected at home and school. Following the 6-month intervention, all treatments resulted in significantly fewer conduct problems with mothers, teachers, and peers compared to controls. Children's negative behavior with fathers was lower in the 3

BACKGROUND: Several parent training programmes and behavioural teacher training programmes built on learning theory have been developed for problem prevention and treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and/or oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) during the last few decades. Group format has often been used for parent training but single-subject designs are more common in teacher training. More studies have focussed on pre-school children than on older children, and a minority have been conducted in public mental health settings.

INTRODUCTION: Inclusive education is a new approach towards a system of educating children with disabilities and learning difficulties with that of normal ones within the same crown. Competency-based teacher education (CBTE) is a framework in which teachers demonstrate their learned knowledge, attitude, and skills in order to achieve specific predetermined "competencies" for a specific course or at a specific educational institution. Children with learning disabilities have significant impairment in reading, writing, and mathematics in spite of normal intelligence and sensory abilities.

OBJECTIVES: The voice is an important occupational tool for teachers. Voice training programs have been shown to help strengthen the voice health and endurance. However, longitudinal studies on voice trainings are sparse. In this study, long-term effects nearly 2 years after a voice training program have been investigated.
METHODS: The acoustic voice quality (Dysphonia Severity Index [DSI]), the voice self-concept (Fragebogen zur Erfassung des Stimmlichen Selbstkonzepts), and the health-related quality of life (SF-12) of 55 teachers who participated in a prior voice training program of ten 90

Given that an estimated 5-10% of the worldwide population is said to have dyslexia, it is of great importance that teachers have an accurate understanding of what dyslexia is and how it effects their students. Using results from a large-scale survey of teachers in England and in Wales (N ≈ 2,600), this paper demonstrates that teachers held a basic understanding of dyslexia, based on the behavioural issues that it is associated with. Teachers lacked the knowledge of the biological (i.e., neurological) and cognitive (i.e., processing) aspects of dyslexia. Moreover, a number of teachers mentioned

INTRODUCTION: Extant literature has established the relationship between psychological well-being (PWB) and academic achievement (CGPA). Yet, little is known about the intervening roles of key variables such as emotional intelligence (EI) and academic self-efficacy (ASE). This study investigates the complex roles of pre-service teachers' EI and ASE in the relationship between PWB and CGPA.
METHODS: Using a cross-sectional design, data from 660 third- and final-year pre-service teachers at the University of Education, Winneba, were analyzed. The study assessed participans PWB, ASE, EI, and CGP

In a previous study, we investigated the effect of a twofold voice-training module in student teachers. In the present study, the original training module of 3 hours of indirect and 3 hours of direct group training was expanded with a 30-minute individual counseling session for each participant. The main focus was on the effects of this threefold training paradigm on the voice of the participants. The subjects were 81 students at the academic teaching program at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The trained group (n=51) received the entire voice-training program, whereas the control group (n=30)

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to investigate group differences between singing teachers and speech-language pathologists when rating dysphonic speaking voices and whether training using reference samples and the Consensus Auditory-Perceptual Evaluation of Voice (CAPE-V) improves inter-rater reliability between and among the two groups. Differences in use of terminology and ratings could reveal potential for miscommunication in the team treatment of singers with voice disorders.
STUDY DESIGN: This is a prospective pre test post test cohort study with between and within group compar

Voice disorders occur frequently in schoolteachers. The aim of the present cross-sectional study involving 124 German teachers was to investigate whether singing, voice training, and high self-efficacy are protective factors for vocal health. Furthermore, vocal self-concept was examined as a potential mediator explaining this relationship. Participants were assigned to the cases group if they had a clinically significant finding in voice examinations consisting of video laryngoscopy (VLS), auditory assessment (RBH), and the Voice Handicap Index (VHI) were assigned to the cases group. Purpose: Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are often excluded from physical education (PE). Opportunities exist to enhance the competence of trainee teachers, thus preparing them for the demands of inclusive PE (IPE). In this study, we examined the effect of IPE training workshops on trainee teachers' self-efficacy for including SEND children within PE. Method: Data was collection from 366 trainee teachers across 44 workshops (63% females; 57% primary-school trainees; age, 23 ± 5 y, mean ± standard deviation; age range 18-53 y). In France, transfusion medicine training program has been updated. A national committee of professors in transfusion medicine propose a series of 13 items which represent the minimum knowledge that general practitioners should possess. This overview of transfusion medicine is far below the level that specialists should reach and they will need an additional specialized training. Several French universities have set up their own training program which is quite similar to the work of the committee of professors. The following recommendations are not strict guidelines but is a common basis which

BACKGROUND: For adolescents living with HIV (ALWH), school may be the most important but understudied social sphere related to HIV stigma. Teachers are role models in the classroom and within the community, and their attitudes and behavior towards people living with HIV may have critical psychosocial and treatment ramifications. Altering teachers' knowledge, attitudes and beliefs (K/A/B) about HIV could reduce the stigmatizing content within their teaching, classrooms and school, improving the environment for ALWH.
METHODS: We developed a one-day teacher training module to enrich teacher K/A/

BACKGROUND: Improving physical activity (PA) and lifestyle among schoolchildren has long been a priority in health policy; however, the outcomes of these global efforts remain unsatisfactory. One key prerequisite for achieving positive change is improving the professional training of physical education (PE) teachers. The study aimed to examine changes in PE teacher training focused on monitoring students' own PA, to compare these findings with evidence from PA research among schoolchildren, and support the development of health and physical literacy in future PE teachers.
METHODS: The study w

The increasing survival of high-risk newborns has led to an increase in neurodevelopmental and learning problems in children. With preschools largely remaining unregulated, primary school teachers with a basic degree and diploma/bachelor's degree in education as minimum requirement in India, may lack training, especially to suspect medical issues contributing to learning difficulties. This study assessed the feasibility of a country-level application under the aegis of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics. A pre-experimental, one-group time series study done with primary school teachers, trained o

Introduction Learning disability (LD) affects many school-going children and is seldom recognized or treated. As teachers spend time with students, they can easily recognize LD by observing academic activities and behaviors. In this context, the present study was conducted to assess the knowledge and practices of teachers regarding LD and evaluate the impact of an educational intervention on teachers' knowledge regarding LD and its screening and referral. Methods A pre-experimental study, including pre-post interventional assessments of teachers, was conducted from June 2018 to December 2019.
