Three tumours which arose in two (one male and one hermaphrodite) out of 63 chimaeric mice resulting from injection of E14TG2a embryo stem (ES) cells into host blastocysts have been investigated. All of the tumours appeared within the first 3 weeks after birth. The tumour in the male chimaera and one of the tumours in the hermaphrodite were in the perigenital region but were extragonadal. The third, smaller tumour in the hermaphrodite was on the caecum. Upper gastrointestinal bleed as the first symptom of metastatic testicular tumors is rare. We describe a 17-year-old man who presented with upper gastrointestinal bleed; endoscopic fine needle aspiration cytology from a duodenal mass suggested germ cell tumor, which was later confirmed on histology of the testis.

A 8 1/2 year old boy is reported, who was admitted because of rapid growth and premature development of pubic hair. Pseudopubertas praecox was diagnosed, caused by a beta-HCG producing mediastinal teratocarcinoma. The patient also had a pituitary germinoma. His karyotype was 47, XXY. While the association of Klinefelter's syndrome and breast cancer is well known, only recently an increased incidence of mediastinal germ cell tumors in this syndrome has been established, which again is demonstrated in this case report.

We report seven cases of metastatic mature teratoma in the lung from testicular teratocarcinoma and embryonal carcinoma. The patients were between 19 and 58 years of age when orchiectomy was performed. The primary tumors each contained a prominent component of embryonal carcinoma as well as mature and immature teratoma in six patients and only embryonal carcinoma in one. This review article discusses recent progress on the use of teratocarcinoma-derived Ntera2/D1 neuron-like cells (NT2N cells, also called hNT cells) as graft source for cell transplantation in stroke. Laboratory evidence has demonstrated the therapeutic potential of NT2N cells in stroke therapy. Two young patients with similar radiographic manifestations of massive opacification of left hemithorax with scattered calcification highly suggestive of mediastinal teratocarcinoma are reported. By biopsy, one patient was proved to have teratocarcinoma and the other patient was proved to have Hodgkin's disease. Twelve children with mediastinal teratodermoid tumor, causing intrathoracic compression of respiratory ways (ITCRW) in 8 of them, were treated in clinic. In 75% of children with ITCRW the conduction of special preoperative preparation was necessary. All the patients were operated on. Tumor was removed en bloc or using the fragmentation method. In secondary tracheomalacia the anterior aortopexy for the tracheal lumen preservation was done simultaneously.
