Deep eutectic solvents were used in both dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction and solid-phase extraction for the purification of chloromycetin and thiamphenicol from milk. A group of 50 men with uncomplicated gonococcal infections were treated with single, oral doses of 2.5 g of thiamphenicol. Reexamination, which included culture for Neisseria gonorrhoeae, was performed three to four days and seven days after treatment. Thiamphenicol glycinate acetylcysteinate (TGA), a molecular combination of an antibiotic and a mucolytic, is particularly indicated in the treatment of acute bronchopulmonary infections characterized by mucostasis. Our report is a synthesis of 9 clinical studies on TGA made in France between 1972 and 1976. These studies involved a total of 587 patients (475 adults and 112 children) with bacterial bronchopulmonary infections. In this study, a highly efficient La-Fe2O3/dielectric barrier discharge (DBD)/honeycomb ceramic plate synergistic catalytic system was successfully constructed by using modified iron oxide (Fe2O3) catalyst coating assisted DBD plasma, and the prepared catalytic coating was fully characterized by various techniques. Twenty-nine patients were treated for recurrent chronic bacterial prostatitis by an injection of 2 Gm. thiamphenicol glycinate via the perineal route directly into the prostate. The effects of chloramphenicol (CAP) and thiamphenicol (TAP) on the outcome of Chlamydia psittaci infection in chick embryos were compared. CAP administered along with Chlamydia reduced embryo mortality rates but showed no appreciable effects when its injection was delayed. Seventy-five men with gonococcal urethritis were treated with a single oral dose of thiamphenicol, and 88 men with this infection were treated with two 1.5-g oral doses of lymecycline taken 12 hr apart. Of the 75 subjects treated with thiamphenicol, 72 (96%) were cured, as compared with 80 (91%) treated with lymecycline. A 27-year-old woman, without compromised immunodefenses, experienced a Listeria meningoencephalitis, with brainstem symptoms. The identified agent exhibited poor susceptibility to usual effective antibiotics, except for penicillins. Knowledge of past history of an allergic reaction to beta-lactam antibiotics lead to appropriate therapy after acute intravenous desensitization of the patient to amoxicillin. Treatment resulted in therapeutic administration rate over 24 h, and in rapid regression of clinical and biological disorders.
