The occurrence of the supernumerary tooth in the nasal cavity is uncommon. If not diagnosed and treated early, it may lead to various complications. Nasal endoscopy not only helps in proper diagnosis but also is an effective approach towards the extraction of the nasal tooth. It increases precision and reduces morbidity associated with the surgery.

Variations regarding the location of an ectopic tooth in the human nasal cavity, although rare, are documented in the literature, but presence of an ectopic tooth on the inferior nasal concha (INC) has not been reported. We observed an anomalous tooth projecting from the posterior margin of the right INC in two adult female skulls. A small quadrangular tooth projected beyond the posterior margin of the hard palate in one of the skulls and a medium sized conical tooth was observed in the other skull. The affected INC in both skulls were located more inferiorly compared to the opposite side and

Mesiodentes are the most common supernumerary teeth, occurring in 0.15% to 1.9% of the population. Given this high frequency, the general dentist should be knowledgeable about the signs and symptoms of mesiodentes and appropriate treatment. The cause of mesiodentes is not fully understood, although proliferation of the dental lamina and genetic factors have been implicated. Mesiodentes can cause delayed or ectopic eruption of the permanent incisors, which can further alter occlusion and appearance. It is therefore important for the clinician to diagnose a mesiodens early in development to allo

A case of an unusual foreign body (a tip fragment from a plastic chopstick) embedded in one of two unerupted supernumerary teeth in the premaxillary region of a 12-year-old Japanese boy is presented.

Macrodontia is a relatively uncommon dental anomaly and has often been reported to occur in association with other dental anomalies. Significant orthodontic and restorative challenges may arise in the management of patients with macrodont teeth. This case report demonstrates the opportune and carefully considered management of a patient presenting with both a macrodont and a supernumerary incisor tooth.

The eruption of a tooth into the nasal cavity is a rare clinical entity. We report a case of an inverted supernumerary tooth in the nasal cavity. A 2-year-old boy was referred to our institution after examination at a local otorhinolaryngology department for otitis media. Radiological examination revealed a tooth-like structure in the right nasal cavity. The tooth was protruding from the floor of the nasal cavity along with granulation tissue. The diagnosis was an inverted tooth in the right nasal cavity. Forceps extraction was performed under general anesthesia.

The ectopic development of teeth has been reported in many locations including the nasal cavity, maxillary sinus and the chin. Ectopic teeth may be permanent, deciduous or supernumerary. A case is presented in which a supernumerary tooth erupted into the maxillary sinus of an 11 year old boy.

Facial swelling in a dog was found to be associated with a supernumerary premolar. Extraction of the tooth alleviated the swelling. Although supernumerary teeth are common, they are not known to be associated with facial swelling.

A boy visited an ear-nose and throat clinic for serous rhinorrhea and a tumor-like mass in the nasal cavity. X-ray and computered tomographies showed a bone-like mass with a slightly radiolucent center which seemed to stem from the nasal septum. A supernumerary tooth in the nasal cavity was extirpated under local anesthesia. In some reports, complications of supernumerary tooth were severe and involved areas other than the nose (cleft lip and/or palate, bilateral aniridia and ectopia lentis, familial adenomatous polyposis coli, ventricular septal defect or patent ductus arteriosus). A case had

Tooth fusion is a dental anomaly with a prevalence of 0.1% in permanent dentition. The aim of this paper is to present the occurrence, region of fusion, and prognosis of fused tooth which is a very rare case in the literature. The authors present a very rare case with a maxillary right lateral incisor fused to a supernumerary tooth on the palatal side. The eruption was delayed, but eruption occurred naturally at 9 years and 6 months. However, cone-beam computed tomography at 11 years and 6 months revealed it was diagnosed as a fused tooth. The authors undertook a literature review over the pas

Supernumerary teeth form at an incidence of about 3% in the population, with differences among races and various clinical consequences. Information on detailed patterns, and especially on white subjects, is scarce in the literature. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the patterns of non-syndromic permanent supernumerary teeth in a white European population. A record review was performed in different orthodontic clinics and identified 207 eligible individuals with 258 supernumerary teeth. Approximately 80% of the subjects had one supernumerary tooth, while 15% had two. Supernumerary tooth forma

UNLABELLED: Supernumerary teeth are extra teeth in addition to the normal dentition. It is a developmental anomaly with multiple etiology. The present paper describes a series of three cases of impacted supernumerary teeth with some unique features located anterior maxillary region. All of them were extracted surgically.

A case is presented of a late developing maxillary supernumerary tooth in the permanent dentition. The patient had a supernumerary tooth fused to a central incisor in the primary dentition. This case emphasizes the importance of careful follow-up of patients with a history of supernumerary teeth and, where clinically indicated, of further radiographic examination.

We present the case of a 36-year-old man who presented with left-sided nasal obstruction and facial pain. Clinical examination and computed tomography revealed an inverted midline supernumerary tooth buckling and deviating the nasal septum to the left. Full surgical resection of the tooth was achieved through a minimally invasive endoscopic septoplasty with full resolution of symptoms. There is little precedent within the literature to guide our management in this case and therefore we offer a successful surgical treatment strategy.

INTRODUCTION: Nasal teeth eruption is a rare phenomenon. The variability of symptoms and generic history makes the diagnosis difficult. This difficulty is more challenging when the tooth is placed in the depth of septum.
CASE REPORT: Our case is an example of this problem. Herein, we present a case of intraseptal tooth with nasal obstruction and septal deviation and recurrent sinusitis. We present preoperative imaging.
CONCLUSION: Great suspicion may helpful for preoperative diagnosis and good deciding.

Despite advances in the knowledge of tooth morphogenesis and differentiation, little is relatively known about the aetiology and molecular mechanisms underlying supernumerary tooth formation. Mice, which are commonly used for studying tooth development, only exhibit one dentition. However, a number of mouse models are now starting to provide some insight into the mechanisms that control overall tooth number within the dentition. This review describes recent advances in our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of supernumerary tooth formation. Indeed, many of the molecular signaling pathwa

The occurrence of supernumerary teeth in the lower molar region is rare. A prevalence of less than 2% of cases occurring in this region has been estimated. The aim of this study was to present a clinical case of a 7-year-old female patient who had a supernumerary tubercular tooth between the distal root of the primary mandibular left second molar and the impacted permanent mandibular left first molar. Treatment consisted of surgical removal of the supernumerary tooth and case follow-up until the permanent molar's eruption, which occurred in 13 months. This study emphasizes the importance of: e

The supernumerary intranasal teeth are unusual phenomena. They may be asymptomatic or present with different signs and symptoms such as epistaxis, infection, and nasal obstruction. We report a case of a supernumerary intranasal tooth that erupted more than 2 years ago and was treated with surgical removal under local analgesia.
