Influence of Tooth Mold Materials in Composite Resin CAD/CAM Crown Destructive Test.

A range of experimental designs have been used in destructive testing of composite resin CAD/CAM crowns. Various materials have been adopted for the abutment in such tests, including human or bovine dentin, stainless steel, PMMA, and composite resin, the selection of which is made in accordance with study objective or preference of the researcher. The purpose of this study was to determine how the material selected for the abutment material affected fracture load and maximum displacement. Destructive tests were conducted on composite resin crowns of the same design. Three types of material wer

Cell death during tooth eruption in the rat: surrounding tissues of the crown.

We investigated the occurrence of apoptosis and other types of cell death around the crown during tooth eruption of the rat upper molar. The TdT-mediated-dUTP-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) method and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were employed. Apoptosis was detected by both TUNEL and TEM in part of the reduced enamel epithelium and connective tissue in the resorbing bony crypt of the pre-erupted tooth. In TEM, a large number of cells showed condensed chromatin and membrane-bound small bodies (apoptotic bodies). Macrophages that phagocytosed apoptotic bodies could be detected. Base

Postextraction Alveolar Preservation and Use of the Crown of the Extracted Tooth as a Temporary Restoration.

Ranging from the extraction of teeth from anterior sector commitment to the loss of bone and soft tissues, alveolar preservation is a regenerative technique that employs biomaterials that induce the preservation of bone tissue and minimize resorption. Placement of provisional restorations at the defect site maintains the stability of the soft tissues and aesthetics at which the definitive restoration is found. The objective of this clinical case was alveolar preservation postextraction of the anterior tooth that presented a coronal fracture, placing the clinical crown of the extracted tooth as

The relationship of tooth crown dimensions between first molar and central incisor in maxilla.

The purpose of this study was to investigate a correlation between the cusp dimensions of the first molar and mesiodistal crown diameters of the central incisors in the maxilla. The study materials were composed of dental casts from 29 modern Japanese female subjects with a mean age of 20 years and 8 months. The mesiodistal crown diameters of the maxillary central incisors were measured. The mesiodistal and bucco-lingual crown diameters and the cusp diameters of the maxillary first molars, such as the paracone, metacone, protocone, and hypocone, were also measured. The crown areas and indices

Tissue contributions to sex and race: differences in tooth crown size of deciduous molars.

This study describes size of constituent deciduous tooth crown components (enamel, dentine, and pulp) to address the manner in which males characteristically have larger teeth than females, and the observation that teeth of American blacks are larger than those of American whites. Measurements were collected (n = 333 individuals) from bitewing radiographs using computer-aided image analysis. Tissue thicknesses (enamel, dentine, pulp) were measured at the crown's mesial and distal heights of contour. Deciduous mesiodistal molar crown length is composed of about 1/7 enamel, 1/3 dentine, and 1/2

Crown-root reattachment of a severe subgingival tooth fracture: a 15-month periodontal evaluation.

Traumatic tooth fractures represent an intriguing challenge for clinicians, particularly when they involve the anterior region of the maxilla. In such situations, esthetic, psychosocial, functional, and therapeutic problems may have a negative effect on the patient's quality of life. In addition, fractures that involve the biologic width of the periodontium are even more difficult to treat. An interdisciplinary approach based on crown lengthening with or without orthodontic extrusion and the definitive prosthetic rehabilitation represent the standard modality of treatment for these conditions

The effect of increased crown-to-implant ratio on single-tooth locking-taper implants.

PURPOSE: It has been proposed that increased crown heights lead to greater crestal stresses on dental implants, crestal bone loss, and other complications. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of increased crown-to-implant ratio (C/IR) on single-tooth implants. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted between July 2001 and August 2003. The cohort was composed of patients who had at least one single-tooth Bicon implant restored with a cementless restoration and attended recall examinations in 2004, 2005, and 2007, during which several clinical and radio

Provisional use of a natural tooth crown following failure of replantation: a case report.

Despite a wide range of treatment options available, traumatized teeth may be inevitably lost on certain occasions. This case report presents an alternative treatment option for the premature loss of a traumatized maxillary central incisor because of extensive root resorption and mobility. A fixed appliance-type provisional prosthesis was fabricated by using the patient's natural clinical crown from the extracted tooth. This measure proved to be a very adequate, esthetic treatment solution before a permanent restorative plan could be developed in the future.

Partial pulpotomy and tooth reconstruction of a crown-fractured permanent incisor: a case report.

Pulp exposure due to traumatic injuries in the anterior permanent teeth of adolescents is a common occurrence. A vital permanent maxillary incisor with complex crown fracture and pulp exposure was treated by partial pulpotomy and assessed clinically through pulpal sensitivity tests and radiographically for periapical healing. Partial pulpotomy consisted of pulp tissue removal to a depth of only 1 to 2 mm, then capping the pulpal wound with calcium hydroxide, lining with resin-modified glass-ionomer cement, and restoration with resin composite. At each recall (7, 15, 21, 50, 90, 150, and 250 da

A systematic review of the consequences of premature birth on palatal morphology, dental occlusion, tooth-crown dimensions, and tooth maturity and eruption.

This systematic review addresses the question whether prematurity results in alteration of palatal morphology, dental occlusion, tooth-crown dimensions, and tooth maturation. A literature survey from the PubMed database covering the period from January 1966 to November 2002 used the Medical Subject Headings terms "infant, premature," and "infant, low birth weight" in combination with "jaws," "dental physiology," "dentition," and "tooth abnormalities." Controlled studies written in English and with definitions of premature birth according to the World Health Organization were selected. Two revi

Spectrophotometric analysis of tooth color reproduction on anterior all-ceramic crowns: Part 1: analysis and interpretation of tooth color.

UNLABELLED: Color matching of a natural maxillary central incisor is one of the most difficult challenges in clinical dentistry. Accurate color determination and interpretation of tooth color information in ceramic work is an important step in achieving success in ideal color reproduction. In this case study, factors that influence tooth color determination were analyzed, and the process of interpretation of tooth color information was assessed based on scientific color data using a novel dental spectrophotometer system. An all-ceramic crown for a maxillary right central incisor was the subjec

Uncommon crown-root fracture treated with adhesive tooth fragment reattachment: 7 years of follow-up.

Crown-root fractures account for 5% of all fractures in permanent teeth and can involve enamel, dentin, and cementum. Depending on whether there is pulpal involvement, these problems may be classified as complicated (which are more common) or noncomplicated. The treatment depends on the level of the fracture line, root length and/or morphology, and esthetic needs. Several treatment strategies are available for esthetic and functional rehabilitation in crown-root fractures. Adhesive tooth fragment reattachment is the most conservative restorative option when the tooth fragment is available and

Teeth-GS: Gaussian Splatting Diffusion with enamel reflectance prior for single-image tooth crown reconstruction.

High-fidelity 3D reconstruction of tooth crown surfaces is foundational to modern digital dentistry. Compared with intra-oral scanning (IOS) systems that require specialized hardware and may still miss fine occlusal structures under clinical lighting limitations, single RGB image-based reconstruction offers a cost-effective and more accessible alternative. However, existing methods decouple surface normal estimation from the fundamental physics governing light-enamel interactions, which consequently hinders the recovery of fine-scale surface topographies, especially occlusal fissures and pits.
