In vitroorgan models allow for the creation of precise preclinical models that mimic organ physiology. During a pandemic of a life-threatening acute respiratory disease, an improved trachea model (TM) is required. We fabricated a modular assembly of the blood vessel and TMs using 3D bioprinting technology. OBJECTIVE: To describe the current standard of care among specialists for the routine diagnostic evaluation and medical management of stable tracheal collapse in dogs, identifying gaps between practice and scientific evidence to facilitate the development of future prospective studies. Late tracheostomy insertion, large endotracheal tubes and high cuff pressures increase their risk of subglottic and tracheal stenosis. Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) are genetically determined diseases, leading to a deficiency of enzymes in the glycosaminoglycan (GAG) degradation pathway. The accumulation of GAG occurs in connective tissue in various organs and systems of the body, including the larynx, trachea, and bronchi. Respiratory involvement in Crohn disease (CD) is rare condition with only about a dozen reported cases. We report the first case of CD with tracheal involvement in Korea. Inaugural tracheobronchitis is a rare but known manifestation of Hodgkin's disease. Clinical signs are often misleading, retarding diagnosis and treatment. We report a case of Hodgkin's disease revealed by wheezing with minimal hemoptysis. Histology of the endoscopic biopsies demonstrated Hodgkin type infiltration of the trachea with mixed cellularity. The patient was given chemotherapy and mediastinal radiotherapy and achieved complete remission.

Morquio's disease is a metabolic disorder that can cause various respiratory abnormalities. Patients who live into adulthood are likely to develop upper airway problems and respiratory failure. With advances in home ventilation, these patients are increasingly likely to be referred to specialist respiratory units. We describe our experiences with two such patients.

BACKGROUND: Nasal tracheal aspiration (NTA) is a frequently used diagnostic method to assess of infections in the lower airways. However, the validity of the method has not previously been compared to bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) in non-intubated children with a lung disease. OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the diagnostic challenge of tracheal hamartoma in a patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
CLINICAL PRESENTATION AND INTERVENTION: A 65-year-old man with COPD was admitted with sudden onset of asphyxia attacks related to the position of his body. Computerized tomography (CT) of the neck showed a soft tissue mass with calcification, which occluded more than two-thirds of the proximal part of the trachea. The tumor was completely removed, and histopathology confirmed hamartoma.

A new technique is described for repairing tracheal compression caused by ascending aorta associated with corrected transposition of the great arteries and pulmonary atresia in a 113-day-old infant. Surgical repair for the tracheal compression was accomplished by suspending the pericardium around the aortic arch to the underside of the sternum. This method seems to be useful for some patients with tracheal compression caused by the ascending aorta.
