Cardiovascular revascularization medicine : including molecular interventions2022eng
Vascular closure devices (VCDs) are widely used as an alternative to manual compression of femoral puncture sites. In this report, we present a 73-year-old man who developed symptomatic venous stenosis related to VCD after pulmonary vein isolation. We performed percutaneous treatment with balloon angioplasty. This case suggests that balloon angioplasty with proper safety measures can be an option for treating venous stenosis related to VCDs.

AIMS: Vascular closure device (VCD)-based venous closure has been anecdotally reported, but systematic evaluation of the reparative response of the vessel wall to venous closure is lacking. The need to control groin complications, and minimize risks associated with postponed sheath removal under conditions of persistent anticoagulation, has generated interest in the role of VCDs for venous access closure. We sought to characterize the vessel wall response to venous closure, both acutely and in delayed fashion at 30 days using angiography, ultrasound, and histology.
METHODS: Ten venous 7 Fr sh

PURPOSE: To evaluate the technical success and complication rates of vascular closure devices (VCDs) in the axillary artery.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: MEDLINE and Embase were searched independently by two reviewers to identify observational studies from inception through October 2021. The following outcomes were meta-analyzed: technical success, hematoma, dissection, pseudoaneurysm, infection, and local neurological complications. Complications were also graded as mild, moderate, and severe. A logistic regression evaluating the influence of sheath size for the outcome of technical success rate w

BACKGROUND: The use of arteriotomy closure devices (CDs) to achieve hemostasis after femoral artery access in percutaneous coronary intervention is steadily increasing. However, the safety information with these devices in the era of triple antiplatelet therapy is limited.
METHODS: We reviewed prospectively collected data from the Do Tirofiban and ReoPro Give Similar Efficacy Outcomes Trial (TARGET), where all patients received aspirin, clopidogrel, and glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor therapy. At the treating physician's discretion, manual compression (MC) or a vascular hemostasis device was

MANTA vascular closure device is an alternative vascular access closure device that is predominantly designed for large bore arteriotomy procedures. Its implementation to reduce morbidity and mortality following percutaneous procedures including peripheral veno-arterial (VA)-extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in critically ill patients with various severe clinical conditions such as refractory cardiogenic shock remains to be under scientific discussion. The use of the MANTA vascular closure device leads to a sufficient reduction in a number of post-decannulation complications such as b

OBJECTIVE: Prior clinical findings have demonstrated that maternal laparotomy with trans-amniotic trans-uterine suturing of the fetoscopic port site during in utero myelomeningocele repair reduces the risk of membrane rupture. However, due to laparotomy-associated morbidity, we aimed to explore the feasibility of using a vascular closure device for percutaneous trans-amniotic trans-uterine suturing.
METHODS: This IRB and IACUC-exempt study utilized 2 strategies for proof-of-concept testing of using the Abbott Perclose™ ProStyle™ Device for suture placement; 1. Ultrasound guided application on

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is an established treatment option for patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis often performed via transfemoral access route (TF-TAVI). Therefore, successful closure of large-bore access sites is essential. This study aims to investigate the safety and effectiveness of the MANTA (Teleflex/Essential Medical, United States) vascular closure device (VCD) in patients undergoing TF-TAVI in an unselected and consecutive cohort of patients.
METHODS: We conducted a single-center, observational study of 245 consecutiv

Transcatheter interventional procedures for the treatment of congenital heart defects have become increasingly important. The patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a common congenital defect that is amenable to transcatheter occlusion. Several transcatheter occlusion devices are available. However, due to different PDA shapes and sizes, each device cannot be used to occlude every PDA. Thus, there is a need for new safe and effective transcatheter occlusion devices. We developed a new transcatheter device, the Gianturco-Grifka Vascular Occlusion Device (GGVOD), which consists of a nylon sack attach

BACKGROUND: Minimally invasive mitral valve surgery requires femoral artery cannulation for extracorporeal circulation, predominantly performed through surgical cutdown. Surgical groin incision is frequently associated with complications such as seroma and infection. We evaluated the safety and efficacy of a percutaneous plug-based large-bore vascular closure device (VCD) for femoral artery closure in minimally invasive mitral valve surgery.
METHODS: This was a single-center prospective study comparing patients undergoing minimally invasive mitral valve surgery with femoral cannulation perfor

Inadvertent puncture of the subclavian artery is an uncommon but potentially fatal complication of the commonly performed internal jugular vein catheterization. We report a case of accidental subclavian artery catheterization close to the vertebral artery during internal jugular venous cannulation, which was successfully managed in the interventional suite with catheter removal and use of a vascular closure device.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of a novel vascular sealing device that incorporates a unique low-profile balloon-positioning catheter and a procoagulant delivered after diagnostic cardiac catheterization and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) procedures. Current management of the vascular access site after percutaneous interventions is associated with patient discomfort and complications. Based on previously reported successful results in canine models, we proceeded with this first human feasibility and safety study. Immediately after an
