The growing need and limited availability of generator produced 68Ga (T1/2 = 68 min) for PET has provided the impetus for alternative, high output, 68Ga production routes such as charge particle activation of enriched 68Zn using PET cyclotrons. The work presents a rapid production method for clinically useful 68Ga for radiolabeling. The focus is also to expand the production capacity of cyclotron solid target-produced 68Ga over generator produced and liquid solutions targets by using enriched 68Zn-foils that minimizes target preparation.

This exploratory study compared surface and optical properties of non-equivalent ZnO formulations deposited on ex vivo chicken skin. Non-irradiated ZnO mixture was compared to nominally 137 Cs-exposed ZnO prepared in multiple dilutions. A comparative study between two nanosorbents, nanopolyaniline (NPANI) and nanopolyaniline coated with nanosilver oxide (NPANI-NAg2O) is explored to dispose the divalent species of Zn/Co from water and radioactive isotopes 65Zn/60Co from radioactive wastewater using batch and column techniques. Female sheep were used to determine the regions of the gastrointestinal tract able to absorb Cu. Copper was absorbed from the abomasum, small intestine and colon, but not from the rumen-reticulum or caecum. In vitro studies indicated that Cu uptake was linearly related to the Cu concentration. 65Zinc absorption was studied in five acrodermatitis enteropathica (AE) patients and in eight normal adults by means of a whole-body counting assay. The absorption was calculated from retention values recorded in the time interval 8-30 days after oral administration of the isotope. The status of zinc in a mutant rat strain with heritable maldescended testes was examined.
