Application of a regional, multiorganisational education programme to implement a digital advance care plan.

INTRODUCTION: Advance care planning (ACP) is key to effective end-of-life care. If digitalisation of ACP is to be achieved, targeted education addressing the challenges of system-level change with diversity across roles, environments and patient groups is required. Currently, little is known about how to design and deliver this education. METHODS: This report describes a multiorganisation education programme focused on increasing engagement with digital advance care plans (DACP). Education sessions were delivered by clinicians and evaluated by postsession participant feedback questionnaire. T

Interrupting Anxiety-Driven Online Health Searches: A Preventive Digital Cyberchondria Intervention.

The rise of cyberchondria, which is defined as excessive and anxiety-driven online health searches, presents a lot of challenges for individuals' well-being and also for public health in general. Often leading to stress or self-diagnoses, it is very important to support individuals in coping or even preventing this excessive misuse. Therefore, this work describes the design and prototypic development of a solution to prevent cyberchondria early. Important requirements through a user-centered, iterative design approach were identified and implemented. This work advances digital mental health by

Distant Presence: Care Workers' Experiences of Digital Monitoring Systems in Dementia Care.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To add nuance to when and how remote technologies should be used to support dementia care, we examine care workers' experiences of two phone-based digital systems used for monitoring and planning in daily care. METHODOLOGICAL DESIGN AND JUSTIFICATION: Short-term ethnography at three care homes, 49 qualitative interviews, and five video-recorded situations provided data for a detailed account of care workers' experiences of the digital systems. Latour's concept of "presence in absence" was used to theorise the emergent theme of distant presence. ETHICAL ISSUES AND APPROVA

The Role of Digital Tools and Their Implementation Within Patient Care Pathways for Rare Brain Disorders: The Case of Phenylketonuria.

INTRODUCTION: The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of digital health solutions in healthcare. Phenylketonuria (PKU) is a rare condition requiring chronic management and frequent assessments, making it a useful model for examining how digital health tools support patient and caregiver education, communication with healthcare professionals and facilities, and patient care pathways. METHODS: Patient representatives and expert clinicians developed qualitative, co-designed ad hoc surveys during virtual workshops. From October 2023 to March 2024, the surveys were available online through

Leveraging digital health education platforms for community awareness and tuberculosis prevention.

This study evaluates whether a digital tuberculosis (TB) education platform is associated with more timely TB screening during a community rollout. Evidence from real-world deployment on short-term TB prevention behaviors remains limited. A prospective stepped-wedge rollout across community clusters compared TB screening uptake within 90 days after first platform exposure with earlier periods under standard outreach. Screening completion was taken from community registers when available, and from surveys when register linkage was not available. In a period-adjusted mixed effects model that acc

The growing burden of mental health and the role of digital technologies in the Global South: policies, cultural contexts, and community-based transformations-a systematic review of gray literature evidence.

BACKGROUND: Mental health conditions are among the fastest growing and most inequitably distributed global disease burdens. Structural determinants- poverty, conflict, climate change, and the COVID-19 pandemic compound a persistent mismatch between internationally developed policy frameworks and the cultural and infrastructural realities of populations in the Global South. OBJECTIVE: This systematic review identified, appraised, and synthesized gray literature evidence on (1) the growing mental health burden across Global South regions (2015-2025); (2) digital technology responses in Global S

From monitoring to intervention: a closed-loop digital health framework for gaming disorder.

Gaming disorder has become a significant public health concern and represents a complex, dynamic condition that requires continuous risk monitoring throughout its progression. However, conventional assessment methods, which rely primarily on questionnaires and clinical interviews, are inherently static and retrospective, limiting dynamic monitoring and early risk identification. Although digital phenotyping, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital therapeutics have emerged as promising approaches, existing reviews have largely examined these technologies separately, lacking an integrated fra

Coproduction Without Youth? Closing the Participation Gap in Digital Mental Health Research.

Young people are among the most intensive users of digital and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI)-enabled mental health tools, yet they remain underrepresented in the research and design processes that shape these technologies. Although participatory approaches such as co-design and patient and public involvement are widely endorsed as best practices, youth involvement in digital youth mental health (DYMH) research is often inconsistent, superficial, or limited to late-stage consultation. This participation gap risks producing interventions that are misaligned with young people's lived

Digital Tools to Support Mental Health in Later Life: Scoping Review of Systematic Reviews.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This scoping review synthesises existing evidence from systematic reviews on the effectiveness and implementation of digital mental health interventions among community-dwelling older adults. RECENT FINDINGS: Twenty-one systematic reviews were included. Results showed that a range of digital tools demonstrate potential to improve common mental health and psychosocial symptoms among older adults, with most evidence concentrating on digital tools to improve depressive symptoms. However, reviews' findings were frequently mixed and accompanied with cautions that primary evidenc

Co-designing digital nudges to promote gender equality and social inclusion among Arab youth: a mixed-methods study.

BACKGROUND: Digital nudges have been widely explored in privacy, health, and sustainability domains; however, little empirical work has co-designed culturally grounded nudges that address Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), especially in Arab contexts. This gap is particularly significant given the strong influence of cultural norms and socio-economic structures in Arab societies, which shape how GESI are perceived and enacted in digital spaces. This study presents a full co-design process that integrates behavioral insights and participant-led design activities to develop a digital-n
