Current knowledge about the in utero and peripartum management of fetal goiter associated with maternal Graves' disease.

Maternal Graves' disease is the most common cause of fetal goiter. Fetal goiter can cause complications attributable either to the physical effects of the goiter itself or to thyroid dysfunction, which can be life-threatening and cause neurological impairment. Determining whether a goiter is caused by fetal hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism is the main clinical problem, and in utero evaluations and management are essential. Ultrasonography combined with color Doppler and magnetic resonance imaging are helpful for the initial diagnosis and monitoring, but these imaging techniques have a limited

This study assessed knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) related to e-waste management among residents of an informal settlement in Delhi. METHODS: A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 425 adults selected through simple random sampling. KAP was assessed using a pretes

Practitioner-related factors that may influence knowledge and confidence of TDI management in children; a scoping review.

PURPOSE: Traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) are the fifth most common chronic disease/injury globally, with 90% of TDIs occurring before the age of 20 years. The aim of this study was to examine the factors related to general practitioner knowledge and confidence in management of TDIs in children. METHODS: A search strategy was conducted on Pubmed and Embase, with searches limited to English language. Five concepts were addre

Addressing knowledge gaps in the management of ticks and tick-borne diseases necessitates a One Health approach.

Tick-borne diseases of animals and humans are becoming more problematic in the US. Consequently, there have been numerous investigations into several tick-borne disease systems, with Lyme disease or borreliosis being the most investigated. At the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University, we study a variety of tick-borne disease systems relevant to animal and human health. Through our collective multidisciplinary expertise, our goal was to showcase what is known about systems we are most familiar with and outline research gaps in tick ecology, tick-borne disease epidemiolog

Knowledge and Practice of Nurses on Prevention and Management of Intradialytic Hypotension at Kiruddu and Mulago National Referral Hospitals.

BACKGROUND: Intradialytic hypotension (IDH) remains a significant and distressing complication of hemodialysis, often reducing the efficiency of the dialysis procedure and leading to adverse clinical outcomes. IDH is strongly associated with increased morbidity and mortality rates among hemodialysis patients. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of an educational intervention on nurses' knowledge and practices regarding the prevention and management of IDH at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital (KNRH) and Mulago National Referral Hospital (MNRH). METHODOLOGY: A quasi-experimental study was

Managing Nonunions and Fracture-Related Infections-A Quarter Century of Knowledge, and Still Curious: A Narrative Review.

Nonunions and fracture-related infections represent a significant complication in orthopedic and trauma care, with their incidence rising due to an aging, more comorbid global population and the escalating threat of multi-resistant pathogens. This narrative review highlights pivotal advancements in diagnostics and therapeutic approaches, while also providing an outlook on future directions. Diagnostic methodologies have significantly evolved from traditional cultures to sophisticated molecular techniques like metagenomic next-generation sequencing and advanced imaging. Simultaneously, therapeu

General Practitioners' Management of Individuals with Gambling Disorder: A Systematic Review of Practices, Knowledge, Attitudes and Beliefs.

Gambling disorder (GD) has a significant impact on individuals, the healthcare system, and the society. The vast majority of individuals with GD do not use healthcare services for their GD. Since primary care is the first point of contact, exploring barriers to GD treatment is of utmost importance. For this systematic review, we searched five major databases up to October 2024 and included empirical studies describing the practices of general practitioners (GPs) and emergency department physicians regarding GD, as well as their knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about GD management. We retained
