Seventeen months after penetrating keratoplasty for pseudophakic bullous keratopathy, a patient developed severe pain and a peripheral corneal ulcer that had the characteristic clinical appearance of a Mooren's ulcer. INTRODUCTION: Slit-lamp beam measurements of a pterygium can be difficult to reproduce accurately.
PURPOSE: To compare standard slit-lamp beam measurements of pterygia to computer caliper measurements of Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)images.
SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Thirteen pterygia often patients were evaluated. Two physicians independently measured each pterygium using the slit lamp beam. Caliper measurements of two different OCT images of each pterygium were obtained. All measurements determined the distance from the limbus to the pterygium apex.

PURPOSE: To describe the clinical signs, management, histopathologic findings, and outcome of three dogs with a corneocentric presentation of nodular granulomatous episcleritis (NGE).
METHODS: Three dogs of varying breeds were presented for a unilateral, nonpainful, and infiltrative corneal lesion in the dorsal aspect of the eye. Clinical response to symptomatic topical treatment directed at a presumed inflammatory or immune-mediated cause was poor. Due to this, and concerns of neoplasia, ultrasonography (n = 1), incisional biopsy (n = 2), and/or enucleation (n = 2) were performed.

PURPOSE: To present a new easy-to-perform technique for the treatment of peripheral corneal defects (perforation or significant thinning), which has had good results.
METHODS: This technique, which consists in sliding and suturing a limbal based inverted scleral flap (similar to the scleral flap used in glaucoma surgery) over the affected peripheral cornea, is described. We have developed a method for quantitating corneal neovascularization, induced in anesthetized rats by silver nitrate/potassium nitrate cauterization, using a LeMont OASYS video input image analyzer.
