Metabolic Syndrome as a Predictor of Adrenal Functional Status: A Discriminant Multivariate Analysis Versus Logistic Regression Analysis.

Patients harboring adrenal tumors are characterized by higher prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) components and a higher incidence of cardiovascular complications, especially in cases of subclinical or overt hormonal hypersecretion. Early detection and referral of those patients in tertiary centers could prevent unfavorable outcomes. In this cross-sectional, retrospective study, we evaluated 111 consecutive patients with adrenal incidentalomas and 14 patients with known hypersecretory adrenal lesions (autonomous cortisol secretion, primary aldosteronism, and pheochromocytoma), who were in

CT-based analysis of sagittal and coronal lumbar endplate morphology: multivariate analysis of factors associated with endplate depth.

PURPOSE: Lumbar endplate morphology varies in individuals; thus, custom-made implants are sometimes more useful than standardized implants. This study aimed to analyze endplate morphology and factors associated with endplate depth using computed tomography (CT) in a non-symptomatic population. METHODS: In total, 118 lumbar CT images of non-symptomatic individuals without severe degenerative change (aged 20-79 years) were retrospectively reviewed. The following radiographic parameters were measured in each lumbar vertebral segment (T12-S1) to determine endplate depth: superior/inferior endplat

Noninvasive, quantitative analysis of drug mixtures in containers using spatially offset Raman spectroscopy (SORS) and multivariate statistical analysis.

In this paper, spatially offset Raman spectroscopy (SORS) is demonstrated for noninvasively investigating the composition of drug mixtures inside an opaque plastic container. The mixtures consisted of three components including a target drug (acetaminophen or phenylephrine hydrochloride) and two diluents (glucose and caffeine). The target drug concentrations ranged from 5% to 100%. After conducting SORS analysis to ascertain the Raman spectra of the concealed mixtures, principal component analysis (PCA) was performed on the SORS spectra to reveal trends within the data. Partial least squares (

Multivariate Genome-Wide Analysis Delineates Shared Genetic Determinants Across Periodontal and Oral Microbial Phenotypes.

BACKGROUND: Periodontitis affects approximately 10% of the global population, posing a serious threat to tooth retention and quality of life. The disease emerges from bidirectional host-microbiome interactions that can shift from homeostasis to dysbiosis and chronic inflammation, yet conventional single-phenotype analyses cannot resolve pleiotropic loci acting across interrelated periodontal and microbial traits. We aimed to jointly model the shared genetic structure of six periodontitis-related phenotypes and to prioritise pleiotropic loci with translational relevance. METHODS AND MATERIALS:

Integrating Multivariate Analysis and DNA Barcoding for Amaranth Germplasm Characterization and Promising Genotype Selection.

Amaranth (Amaranthus spp.) is a multifaceted genus of C4 plants with significant nutritional and agronomic potential, yet it remains underutilized in mainstream agriculture. Despite growing interest in Amaranth, most germplasm studies have used either phenotypic or molecular approaches alone, lacking integration. Multivariate methods have not been systematically applied to identify promising genotypes, and species-specific selection indices for grain Amaranth remain unexplored. To address these gaps, this study comprehensively characterized 84 Amaranth genotypes representing multiple species (

Phenotypic and morphometric characterization of indigenous cattle in Gokwe North, Zimbabwe, using multivariate analysis.

Indigenous cattle are central to livelihoods, climate resilience, and cultural systems in semi-arid regions, yet their phenotypic diversity is often insufficiently documented to support effective conservation and sustainable use improvement. The study aimed to classify officially recognized indigenous cattle breeds (Afrikaner, Mashona, and Tuli) based on their phenotypic characteristics. The study animals were selected randomly among the animals present at the plunge dip tank (a tick-control practice in which cattle are immersed in an acaricide solution) for three consecutive dipping's, morpho

Building Multivariate Molecular Imaging Brain Atlases Using the NeuroMark PET Independent Component Analysis Framework.

Molecular imaging analyses using positron emission tomography (PET) data often rely on macro-anatomical regions of interest (ROI), which may not align with chemo-architectural boundaries and obscure functional distinctions. While methods such as independent component analysis (ICA) have been useful to address this limitation, the fully data-driven nature can make it challenging to compare results across studies. Here, we introduce the NeuroMark PET approach, utilizing spatially constrained independent component analysis to define overlapping regions that may reflect the brain's molecular archi
