A study of 16 patients who underwent intralbugineous testicular implants during the practice of orchiectomy is presented. In 14 cases of prostatic carcinoma, after bilateral subcapsular orchiectomy intralbugineous prostheses were implanted and in 2 other cases of testicular torsion unilateral prosthesis was implanted. With this new, easily executed technique the size, mobility and testicular sensibility are maintained.

We present an unusual case of sudden onset of pain in the left testis in a patient with a previous medical history of right orchiectomy due to hemorrhagic infarction. A partial orchiectomy was performed with complete removal of the lesion and reconstruction of the testicular parenchyma. Histopathological assessment confirmed segmental testicular infarction without the presence of malignancy. The patient subsequently received anticoagulant therapy.

A case is presented of Wegener's granulomatosis limited to the testis and epididymis, simultaneously, in a 69-year-old man. Orchiectomy was carried out through an inguinal incision under the presumptive diagnosis of a right testicular tumor. A hard, irregular mass occupied the upper testicle and a portion of the epididymal head was visualized. Histopathologic examination of the specimen showed granulomatous inflammation of the testis and epididymis with prominent angiocentric granulomata in the walls of arteries, veins and foci of fibrinoid necrosis, surrounded by palisading inflammatory cells

We investigated the mechanisms of injury involved in unilateral testis torsion as well as the interventional effects of orchiectomy at 48 h and immunosuppression with corticosteroids in rats. Torsion was associated with abnormal contralateral testis histology and raised antilymphocytes and antisperm antibody titers. Both orchiectomy and steroid administration lessened these findings, suggesting that an immunological process underlies the abnormality seen in this experiment model.

This case report describes Fournier's gangrene in a 35-year-old male following elective inguinal orchiectomy for testicular cancer. The aetiology was unknown, possibly beginning in the bottom of the scrotum following orchiectomy, alternatively through the scrotal skin after hair removal prior to surgery. Survivors from Fournier's gangrene often suffer from severe long-term morbidity, and multidisciplinary treatment is important for outcome optimization.

A 63-year-old man presented with right scrotal swelling. A physical examination revealed a painless, palpable mass in the right scrotum. The mass was well defined and lobulated. Subsequently, a diagnosis of right epididymal tumor was made, and right high orchiectomy was performed. Hematoxylin-eosin and immunostaining revealed leiomyosarcoma of the epididymis. When a diagnosis of epididymal malignant tumor is made, the standard treatment is radical orchiectomy.
