BACKGROUND: Taxane acute pain syndrome (TAPS) is a clinically significant side-effect of taxane chemotherapy, often described as arthralgia and myalgia that occurs 2-3 days after infusion. The aim of this study was to assess pain descriptors used by patients during their experience of TAPS.

A 70-year-old man diagnosed with pleomorphic malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the left thigh underwent tumor resection. After 10 months, he underwent extended resection due to local recurrence. However, because multiple lung metastases was detected at this time, chemotherapy with ifosfamide and doxorubicin was administered. Palmoplantar erythrodysesthesia syndrome (PPES) and nail changes are common presentations of cutaneous toxicity of docetaxel chemotherapy, which deteriorate the quality of life of patients. Herein, we describe a female patient who developed PPES and multiple nail changes due to docetaxel treatment for infiltrative ductal carcinoma. Cold application and elevation of extremities during docetaxel infusion, potent topical steroids and oral pyridoxine increased the tolerance to chemotherapy and provided regression of painful cutaneous lesions without cessation of the treatment.

We report the case of a rare presentation of cutaneous metastatic breast carcinoma. A 72-year-old lady who was previously fit and well presented with a 2-month history of a rash over the left breast. Malignant eccrine poroma is a rare disease with approximately 200 cases reported in the literature. Regional cutaneous and systemic metastases are rarely observed and their management has been generally unsuccessful. We report on a case in which topical 5-fluorouracil application and intra-arterial chemotherapy with docetaxel resulted in a histologically confirmed complete response of multiple regional skin metastases for more than 2 years. Despite intravenous administration of docetaxel, slow progression of systemic disease was observed.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to describe canalicular stenosis as a mechanism for epiphora (excessive tearing) secondary to weekly docetaxel.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Fourteen patients with metastatic breast cancer who developed epiphora during weekly docetaxel therapy underwent an ophthalmologic examination, and probing and irrigation of the nasolacrimal ducts. The total duration of docetaxel therapy, the duration of treatment at the time of onset of epiphora, the number of infusions, the cumulative dose of docetaxel and the severity of canalicular stenosis were recorded.

BACKGROUND: For post-docetaxel treatment of metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), cabazitaxel has demonstrated superior third line PFS and OS compared to androgen receptor pathway inhibitors (ARPIs) in patients who progress within 12 months on first ARPI. The impact of first ARPI response, in particular responses beyond 12 months, on cabazitaxel outcomes in real-world populations is uncertain, as are other factors impacting cabazitaxel use.
