Pharmacy technicians, supporting our past, shaping our future: Implementing an ASHP-ACPE-accredited pharmacy technician training program in an academic medical center.

PURPOSE: Pharmacy technician training and education vary depending on practice site and state law. Although technician certification provides a national standard for credentialing, not all states require it, making certification a voluntary process for technicians or the organizations employing them. As the role of the pharmacist has evolved, the need for highly trained pharmacy technicians has grown. The pharmacy technician's expanded role in specialized areas of pharmacy practice has created new opportunities that require advanced training. SUMMARY: Research is lacking on return on investme

Efficacy of breastfeeding support provided by trained clinicians during an early, routine, preventive visit: a prospective, randomized, open trial of 226 mother-infant pairs.

BACKGROUND: Despite growing evidence of the benefits of prolonged breastfeeding for mother and infant health, the rate of breastfeeding at infant age of 6 months remains below the Healthy People 2010 goal. The greatest decrease in the breastfeeding rate occurs during the first 4 postpartum weeks. Mothers who discontinue breastfeeding early are more likely to report lack of confidence in their ability to breastfeed, problems with the infant latching or suckling, and lack of individualized encouragement from their clinicians in the early postdischarge period. Observational studies suggest that p

The Effect of SPECTROM Training on Support Staff Knowledge of Psychotropic Medicine and Attitude Towards Behaviours That Challenge in Adults With Intellectual Disabilities to Help Implement the STOMP Initiative.

BACKGROUND: Overmedication of adults with intellectual (learning) disabilities, particularly the off-licence use of psychotropic medicines for behaviours that challenge in the absence of a psychiatric disorder, is a major public health concern and an example of health inequalities. In the United Kingdom, we coproduced online training resources backed up by face-to-face training for support staff (direct care workers) called SPECTROM involving all stakeholders, including adults with intellectual disabilities and their families, to help reduce the overmedication and implement NHS England's STOMP

Brief Peer-Supported Web-Based Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (BPS webSTAIR) for Trauma-Exposed Veterans in the Community: Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Peer-supported mobile health (mHealth) programs hold the promise of providing a low-burden approach to increasing access to care and improving mental health. While peer support has been shown to improve engagement in care, there is limited investigation into the impact of peers on symptom outcomes. Trauma-exposed populations frequently endure co-occurring posttraumatic stress and depressive symptoms as well as difficulties in day-to-day functioning. This study evaluated the potential benefits of a peer-supported, transdiagnostic mHealth program on symptom outcomes and functioning.

Study protocol of a randomised controlled trial for the effectiveness of a functional partial body weight support treadmill training (FPBWSTT) on motor and functional skills of children with ataxia.

INTRODUCTION: A great heterogeneity characterises the paediatric population with ataxia, which has been studied poorly. The lack of postural control and coordination, in addition with features of the 'ataxic' gait are linked with functional limitations. Studies on physiotherapy interventions for children with ataxia are highly needed for identifying optimal training strategies for improving motor and functional related skills. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: A stratified randomised control clinical trial of a 4-week functional partial body weight support treadmill training, (5 days/week 45 min/day) and

Effects of transcranial direct current stimulation over the supplementary motor area body weight-supported treadmill gait training in hemiparetic patients after stroke.

Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is used in a variety of disorders after stroke including upper limb motor dysfunctions, hemispatial neglect, aphasia, and apraxia, and its effectiveness has been demonstrated. Although gait ability is important for daily living, there were few reports of the use of tDCS to improve balance and gait ability. The supplementary motor area (SMA) was reported to play a potentially important role in balance recovery after stroke. We aimed to investigate the effect of combined therapy body weight-supported treadmill training (BWSTT) and tDCS on gait funct

Training Intervention and Program of Support for Fostering the Adoption of Family-Centered Telehealth in Pediatric Rehabilitation: Protocol for a Multimethod, Prospective, Hybrid Type 3 Implementation-Effectiveness Study.

BACKGROUND: Children with disability face long wait times for rehabilitation services. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth adoption was low across pediatric rehabilitation. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, pediatric therapists were asked to rapidly shift to telehealth, often with minimal training. To facilitate the behavior changes necessary for telehealth adoption, provision of appropriate evidence-based training and support is required. However, evidence to support the effective implementation of such training is lacking. The successful real-world implementation of a trainin

From face-to-face to e-learning: transitioning to new training models to strengthen the health system by supporting primary healthcare workers in low- and middle-income countries.

Reliance on purely face-to-face in-service training for primary healthcare workers in low- and middle-income countries is increasingly unsustainable. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the transition of the University of Cape Town Knowledge Translation Unit's Practical Approach to Care Kit programme from a facility-based cascade model to online and blended learning formats. This paper analyses the implementation of this transition across 29 courses between 2020 and 2023 in South Africa. Using the Health System Process Goals framework, we reflect on the challenges and enablers of e-learning, shif
