BACKGROUND: Urethral stricture can occur from urethral meatus to bladder neck. Treatment of urethral stricture include dilatation, endoscopic incision and anastomotic urethroplasty. The aim of this study is to report our experience in the management of different types of urethral strictures.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the chart of all the patients of urethral stricture who received treatment at Kathmandu model hospital between January 2015 and October 2019. Different types of urethral stricture along with various modalities of treatment given were recorded.

PURPOSE: Evaluate the main etiologies and clinical characteristics of male urethral stricture disease (USD) in Brazil.
METHODS: This multicentric study was performed using retrospective data collected from six Brazilian referral centers of urethral reconstruction. The database comprised data from 899 patients with USD who had undergone surgical treatment from 2008 to 2018. Age, stricture site and primary stricture etiology were identified for each patient.

Urethral stricture after radiation therapy for localized prostate cancer is a delicate problem as the decreased availability of tissue healing and the close relation to the sphincter complicates any surgical approach. We here review the pathophysiology, dosimetry, and the disease specific aspects of urethral strictures after radiotherapy. PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficiency of visual internal urethrotomies (VIUs) in pediatric patients.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Thirty-four patients aged 0.2-16.3 years were treated with VIUs as a primary treatment for urethral stricture at our institution during 1980-2010. A three-and-a-half-year-old male neutered Siamese cat presented with idiopathic feline lower urinary tract inflammation and dysuria, which appeared to be caused by stricture of the urethral meatus. Wedge meatoplasty was performed, which relieved the cat's dysuria and restored a normal urine stream. To my knowledge, this is the first report of meatoplasty as a treatment for stricture of the urethral meatus in a cat.

Urethral strictures are often initially managed with dilation using sequential metal sounds or filiform and follower dilators. While these techniques often successfully achieve at least a temporary increase to the caliber of the area of stricture, they are performed without visual guidance, and complications can include false passage and urethral perforation. We describe the first use of balloon dilator that allows the safe, controlled, and gentle and dilation of urethral strictures under direct vision.

The choice of operative techniques applicable in urethral strictures and obliterations is rather great today. The author holds that procedures that may entail bladder hypotonia, pyelonephritis, nephrolithiasis, prostatitis, impotence, especially in young patients, should be rejected as ineffective. These complications often result from ignorance of perineal anatomy, erroneous choice of surgical policy leading to bouginage.
