Predictive factors associated with the safety and efficacy of refractive surgery for Myopia: a retrospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Wavefront-guided refractive surgery delivers excellent visual outcomes for myopia, but the relative contribution of demographic, refractive, and corneal preoperative variables to safety and efficacy remains incompletely characterized in real-world single-surgeon cohorts. We aimed to identify independent predictors of safety and efficacy after wavefront-guided femtosecond LASIK (i-LASIK) and wavefront-guided PRK (wfPRK) for myopia, using a methodologically robust analytical approach. METHODS: Single-center, single-surgeon retrospective cohort of consecutive myopic patien

Outcome of Horizontal Strabismus Surgery and Factors Influencing Surgical Success.

INTRODUCTION: Strabismus is a complex problem of eye alignment, binocularity, and cosmetics that affect vision and quality of life. Strabismus surgery helps to establish binocular fusion, expand the field of binocular vision, eliminate diplopia, correct a compensatory head posture, and improve cosmetic appearance. The outcomes of horizontal strabismus surgery range from 56.3-86.5%. It depends on different factors such as the type of strabismus, accurate measurement of pre-operative deviation, age at which strabismus surgery was performed for the first time, type of strabismus surgery, postoper

Optic Pathway Glioma and Cerebral Focal Abnormal Signal Intensity in Patients with Neurofibromatosis Type 1: Characteristics, Treatment Choices and Follow-up in 134 Affected Individuals and a Brief Review of the Literature.

UNLABELLED: Optic pathway glioma (OPG) is a rare neoplasm and a defining feature of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), a tumor suppressor genetic disorder. OPG predominantly arises during childhood. In contrast to sporadic OPG, this neoplasm frequently appears to show a more favorable course. Outcome appears to depend on localization of tumor; however, the correlation of imaging findings and visual acuity is in general low. Treatment for symptomatic OPG is not well standardized. Furthermore, determination of visual acuity as the most important parameter of follow-up control is often difficult to

Refractive Changes Associated With Pediatric Kidney Transplantation.

INTRODUCTION: Kidney transplantation remains the optimal treatment for children with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), 25%-40% of which are estimated to be caused by congenital malformations and genetic syndromes. Given the widespread nature of this surgical procedure, ocular complications may arise from the operation itself or from subsequent medical treatments. The aim of this study is to determine whether there are postoperative refractive changes in pediatric patients who have undergone kidney transplantation and to detect the presence of refractive changes that may cause amblyopia in patien
