Dynamic-Parameterized Reconstruction Model for Resource-Aware Spatial Intelligence.

Spatial intelligence in autonomous driving requires object-level 3D geometry, yet existing monocular mesh reconstruction methods usually operate with a fixed inference path and a single mesh parameterization, which limits their flexibility under heterogeneous resource constraints. To address this issue, we propose DyPRSI, a dynamic-parameterized framework for monocular vehicle 3D reconstruction that provides multiple predefined accuracy-latency operating points within a single model. DyPRSI inserts two early exits into a shared Res2Net-BiFPN trunk and associates each exit with an exit-specific

Sensor Fusion Method for Object Detection and Distance Estimation in Assisted Driving Applications.

The fusion of multiple sensors' data in real-time is a crucial process for autonomous and assisted driving, where high-level controllers need classification of objects in the surroundings and estimation of relative positions. This paper presents an open-source framework to estimate the distance between a vehicle equipped with sensors and different road objects on its path using the fusion of data from cameras, radars, and LiDARs. The target application is an Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) that benefits from the integration of the sensors' attributes to plan the vehicle's speed accor

Embryonic Exposure to Valproic Acid Affects Social Predispositions for Dynamic Cues of Animate Motion in Newly-Hatched Chicks.

Early predispositions to preferentially orient toward cues associated with social partners have been documented in several vertebrate species including human neonates and domestic chicks. Human newborns at high familiar risk of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) show differences in their attention toward these predisposed stimuli, suggesting potential impairments in the social-orienting mechanisms in ASD. Using embryonic exposure to valproic acid (VPA) we modeled ASD behavioral deficits in domestic chicks. To investigate social predispositions toward animate motion in domestic chicks, we focused o

Parvocellular neurons of the paraventricular nucleus are involved in the reduction in renal nerve discharge during isotonic volume expansion.

The parvocellular neurons of the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus are known to be involved in the control of central autonomic outflow. While the PVN is also known to be involved in the control of fluid-balance, most of the studies examining this nucleus have emphasized the magnocellular neurons, which are involved in the humoral control of fluid-balance and related hemodynamics. The present study took advantage of the differential sensitivity of these two cell types to kainic acid as a means of investigating the role of the parvocellular neurons in the reflex reduction of ren

Central action of CART induces neuronal activation in the paraventricular and dorsomedial hypothalamus of diet-induced obese and lean mice.

The cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) is a peptide commonly studied in the feeding behavior, but it exerts an important role in the autonomic and cardiovascular control as well. It is known that exogenous administration of CART in the central nervous system can elicit increase in blood pressure of both conscious and anesthetized rodents, but little is known whether these central effects might differ between lean and obese animals. We have recently shown that diet-induced obese mice that developed hypertension presented an upregulation of CART levels in the dorsomedial nucleu

Fever of central origin in traumatic brain injury controlled with propranolol.

Central fevers are known to develop in traumatic brain injury (TBI) and are believed to be caused by injury involving the hypothalamus. Described are three patients admitted with very severe TBI secondary to motor vehicle accidents. Initial Glasgow Coma Score ratings were 3 or 4. Head computed tomography (CT) scans showed intraventricular hemorrhage in two cases and no focal injury or bleeding in the third. All patients had decorticate posturing and symptoms of autonomic dysfunction, manifested by tachycardia and profuse sweating. Each of these patients developed high fevers ranging from 38.9

Micromotors for Active Delivery of Minerals toward the Treatment of Iron Deficiency Anemia.

As the most common nutritional disorder, iron deficiency represents a major public health problem with broad impacts on physical and mental development. However, treatment is often compromised by low iron bioavailability and undesired side effects. Here, we report on the development of active mineral delivery vehicles using Mg-based micromotors, which can autonomously propel in gastrointestinal fluids, aiding in the dynamic delivery of minerals. Iron and selenium are combined as a model mineral payload in the micromotor platform. We demonstrate the ability of our mineral-loaded micromotors to

Analysis of respiratory movements in a mouse model of late Parkinson's disease submitted to stress.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is known to cause tremor and rigidity, but other symptoms such as respiratory and autonomic dysfunctions are a major cause of disability and mortality in patients. In this study, we examined respiratory movements by using cineradiography on a murine model of late/advanced PD. Under surgical anesthesia, C57BL/6J mice received an injection of either 6-OHDA or vehicle solution to the right striatum. Two weeks after surgery, the animals had their respiratory movements recorded by video X-ray without any restraint. During recordings the animals were submitted to a mild acut

Event-Based Fault-Tolerant Control for Wheel Driving Intelligent Vehicle System.

This study investigates a fault-tolerant control scheme for the autonomous intelligent vehicle, which is actuated by four independent motors. The main purpose is to realize the trajectory tracking control, to avoid collision accidents, and to save communication resources. First, by using the event-triggered sampled output, the state, fault efficiency index, and disturbance information are acquired through a novel observer. The convergence performance of the proposed observer is proved theoretically. Subsequently, to achieve the control purpose of this study, an event-based adaptive sliding mod

Roles and Applications of Red Blood Cell-Derived Extracellular Vesicles in Health and Diseases.

Red blood cell-derived extracellular vesicles (RBCEVs) are vesicles naturally produced by red blood cells and play multiple roles such as acting as cell-to-cell communication messengers in both normal physiological and diseased states. RBCEVs are highly promising delivery vehicles for therapeutic agents such as biomolecules and nucleic acids as they are easy to source, safe, and versatile. RBCEVs autonomously target the liver and pass the blood-brain barrier into the brain, which is highly valuable for the treatment of liver and brain diseases. RBCEVs can be modified by various functional unit

Blockade of sympathetic ganglia improves vascular dysfunction in septic shock.

Sepsis/septic shock activates the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) to deal with the infection stress. However, an imbalanced or maladaptive response due to excessive or uncontrolled activation characterizes autonomic dysfunction. Our hypothesis was that reducing this excessive activation of the autonomic nervous system would impact positively in sepsis. Using ganglionic blockers as a pharmacological approach, the main aim of the present report was to assess the role of ganglionic transmission in the vascular dysfunction associated with sepsis.Sepsis was induced in rats by cecal ligation and pu

Endogenous hydrogen sulfide in the rostral ventrolateral medulla/Bötzinger complex downregulates ventilatory responses to hypoxia.

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is now recognized as a new gaseous transmitter involved in several brain-mediated responses. The rostral ventrolateral medulla (RVLM)/Bötzinger complex is a region in the brainstem that is involved in cardiovascular and respiratory functions. Recently, it has been shown that exogenous H2S in the RVLM modulates autonomic function and thus blood pressure. In the present study, we investigated whether H2S, endogenously produced in the RVLM/Bötzinger complex, plays a role in the control of hypoxia-induced hyperventilation. Ventilation (VE) was measured before and after bilat

Effect of intracerebroventricular benzamil on cardiovascular and central autonomic responses to DOCA-salt treatment.

DOCA-salt treatment increases mean arterial pressure (MAP), while central infusion of benzamil attenuates this effect. The present study used c-Fos immunoreactivity to assess the role of benzamil-sensitive proteins in the brain on neural activity following chronic DOCA-salt treatment. Uninephrectomized rats were instrumented with telemetry transmitters for measurement of MAP and with an intracerebroventricular (ICV) cannula for benzamil administration. Groups included rats receiving DOCA-salt treatment alone, rats receiving DOCA-salt treatment with ICV benzamil, and appropriate controls. At st

CBAM VGG16: An efficient driver distraction classification using CBAM embedded VGG16 architecture.

Driver monitoring systems (DMS) are crucial in autonomous driving systems (ADS) when users are concerned about driver/vehicle safety. In DMS, the significant influencing factor of driver/vehicle safety is the classification of driver distractions or activities. The driver's distractions or activities convey meaningful information to the ADS, enhancing the driver/ vehicle safety in real-time vehicle driving. The classification of driver distraction or activity is challenging due to the unpredictable nature of human driving. This paper proposes a convolutional block attention module embedded in

Efficient and real-time perception: a survey on end-to-end event-based object detection in autonomous driving.

Autonomous driving has the potential to enhance driving comfort and accessibility, reduce accidents, and improve road safety, with vision sensors playing a key role in enabling vehicle autonomy. Among existing sensors, event-based cameras offer advantages such as a high dynamic range, low power consumption, and enhanced motion detection capabilities compared to traditional frame-based cameras. However, their sparse and asynchronous data present unique processing challenges that require specialized algorithms and hardware. While some models originally developed for frame-based inputs have been

AT1 and AT2 Receptors in the Prelimbic Cortex Modulate the Cardiovascular Response Evoked by Acute Exposure to Restraint Stress in Rats.

The prelimbic cortex (PL) is an important structure in the neural pathway integrating stress responses. Brain angiotensin is involved in cardiovascular control and modulation of stress responses. Blockade of angiotensin receptors has been reported to reduce stress responses. Acute restraint stress (ARS) is a stress model, which evokes sustained blood pressure increase, tachycardia, and reduction in tail temperature. We therefore hypothesized that PL locally generated angiotensin and angiotensin receptors modulate stress autonomic responses. To test this hypothesis, we microinjected an angioten

How T-cell-dependent and -independent challenges access the brain: vascular and neural responses to bacterial lipopolysaccharide and staphylococcal enterotoxin B.

Bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is widely used to study immune influences on the CNS, and cerebrovascular prostaglandin (PG) synthesis is implicated in mediating LPS influences on some acute phase responses. Other bacterial products, such as staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB), impact target tissues differently in that their effects are T-lymphocyte-dependent, yet both LPS and SEB recruit a partially overlapping set of subcortical central autonomic cell groups. We sought to compare neurovascular responses to the two pathogens, and the mechanisms by which they may access the brain. Rats recei

HSCM-Lane: A ResNet-based encoder-decoder architecture with multi-level shifted-window context modeling for pixel-wise lane segmentation.

Pixel-wise lane segmentation provides dense geometric cues for lane keeping, road-structure inference, and local trajectory planning in advanced driver-assistance systems and autonomous vehicles. The objective is to improve binary lane-mask segmentation under sparse, thin, low-contrast, occluded, and discontinuous lane-marking conditions while retaining a compact real-time configuration. To this end, we propose HSCM-Lane, a ResNet-based encoder-decoder architecture enhanced by a Hierarchical Swin Context Module (HSCM). HSCM organizes shifted-window context modeling at the 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16 en
