Immune Response and Protective Efficacy of Quercetin in Tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus Against Tilapia Parvovirus.

The global tilapia farming industry is facing challenges due to tilapia parvovirus (TiPV), an emerging viral pathogen affecting cultured tilapia populations worldwide. It causes mass mortality in tilapia and high economic loss. Hence, an effective treatment is needed to control TiPV infection. Quercetin is one of the polyphenolic flavonoid compounds found in many natural products and could effectively inhibit various aquatic viral pathogens. Investigating the immunological response, virus clearance, and survival of tilapia fed quercetin-formulated feed is the primary intent of this research ve

Monogeneans on exotic Indian freshwater fish. 8. Co-translocation of Cichlidogyrus tilapiae (Monogenea, Dactylogyridae) with pindani Chindongo socolofi (Cichliformes, Cichlidae): first report of this parasite genus in India within aquarium trade facilities.

The pindani, Chindongo socolofi (Cichliformes, Cichlidae) is a popular freshwater ornamental fish from Lake Malawi in Africa. Although identifying parasites associated with the global ornamental fish trade is critical for developing biosecurity practices, little is known about the parasite fauna of C. socolofi. Therefore, this study sought to determine what monogenean parasites C. socolofi harbours in India. Adult specimens of this host species were collected from various aquarium shops across the country between 2020 and 2022, and their gills were subjected to parasitological examination. Mon

Mutagenic Effects of Potassium Dichromate as Evaluated by Means of Animal and Plant Bioindicators.

BACKGROUND: Chromium typically occurs in two oxidation states in the natural environment, Cr(3+) [Cr(III)] and Cr(6+) [Cr(VI)]. Out of the two chromium species, Cr(VI) is the most mobile, labile and toxic. Hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] compounds are classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as carcinogenic agents to humans. The main source of release of chromium in aquatic ecosystems is related to the industrial application of this metal in metallurgies, tanneries, and in the manufacturing of paints and dyes. The ecotoxicology of Cr(VI) is linked to its environmental
