Effect of endoscopic urethral procedures applied after robotic radical prostatectomy on urinary incontinence: A prospective cohort pilot study.

OBJECTIVES: The most common complications after radical prostatectomy (RP) are erectile dysfunction (ED) and urinary incontinence (UI). After RP, patients may require endoscopic urethral procedures (EUP) for other urological diseases such as hematuria, urinary system stone disease, and suspicion of bladder tumor. In clinical practice we observed that EUP performed after robot assisted RP (RARP) can cause an increase in the UI level. In this study, we investigated whether there is a change in the UI level in patients that underwent EUP after RARP and whether this change was affected by the dura

[Correlation between symptoms and urodynamic results in patients with urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy.].

OBJECTIVES: Urinary incontinence (UI) is a significant complication after radical prostatectomy (RP). Although sphincter incompetence is considered the main cause; bladder dysfunction can contribute substantially. Our objective was to evaluate the results of the urodynamic study (UDS) in men with UI after radical prostatectomy and analyze the correlation between symptoms and urodynamic parameters. METHODS: We carried out a retrospective study reviewing the symptoms and urodynamics in patients with urinary incontinence after RP. We describe the symptoms, urodynamic findings and we analyze the

Efficacy and Complications of the Re-Adjustable Male Sling System for Stress Urinary Incontinence after Radical Prostatectomy.

The aim of this study was to investigate the outcomes of re-adjustable male slings in pa-tients with postoperative stress urinary incontinence (SUI) following radical prostatectomy (RP). We retrospectively analyzed 18 patients with SUI following RP for prostate cancer, who were treated with re-adjustable male slings from January 2016 to December 2021. The clinical outcomes were evaluated based on daily pad usage and urodynamic studies, both preoperatively and post-operatively. The degree of SUI was categorized as either mild, moderate, or severe. Success was defined as no more pad use or signi

The effect of preoperative membranous urethral length on likelihood of postoperative urinary incontinence after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy.

BACKGROUND: Urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy affects many men. In addition to surgical and patient factors, longer preoperative membranous urethral length (MUL) has been suggested to be associated with improved postoperative urinary continence outcomes. Here, we assess the association of preoperative MUL and the risk of persistent postoperative urinary incontinence after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) for prostate cancer on extended follow-up. METHODS: All participants underwent RARP at the University of California, San Francisco between 2000-2018. Patients were e

The impact of plasma-rich platelet injection to perianal sphincters on incontinence and quality of life in patients with rectal cancer after low anterior or intersphincteric resection: a prospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Incontinence is not rare after rectal cancer surgery. Platelet-rich plasma may promote tissue repair and generation but has never been tested for the treatment of anal incontinence. This study evaluated the impact of platelet-rich plasma injection on the severity of incontinence and quality of life after low rectal cancer surgery. METHODS: This is a prospective cohort proof of concept study in a colorectal cancer institution. Patients had undergone low anterior or intersphincteric resection for low rectal cancer and had a Wexner score > 4. Ten milliliters of platelet-rich plasma w

Non stress non urge female urinary incontinence--diagnosis and cure: a preliminary report.

Six patients, average age 80 years, with no previous operations, presented with urinary incontinence. The predominant symptoms were "being wet all the time" and "sudden uncontrolled urine loss". They had no symptoms of urgency or stress incontinence, and no objective evidence of "detrusor instability" or urine loss on cough stress pad testing. All but one patients were cured by the simultaneous combined Intravaginal Sling and Tuck operation, indicating that the primary cause of the symptoms was an anatomical defect in the vagina and the ligamentous supports in the region of the bladder neck, a

Concomitant Transurethral and Transvaginal-Periurethral Injection of Autologous Adipose Derived Stem Cells for Treatment of Female Stress Urinary Incontinence: A Phase One Clinical Trial.

Stress urinary incontinence is a common medical problem among women. The urethral closure complex and/or the supportive mechanisms are responsible for incontinence in the majority of patients. Several surgical procedures with different degrees of invasiveness and outcomes have been reported to treat the problem. Although most of these procedures are reasonably effective, a general trend towards the study of natural and biocompatible tissues is emerging over popular synthetic materials. Here we report our experience of autologous adipose-derived stem cells transplantation into the periurethral
