Oncocytic neoplasms occur in several organs and are most commonly found in the thyroid, kidneys and salivary glands. Oncocytic neoplasms of the adrenal cortex are extremely rare and are usually non-functioning, benign and incidentally detected. However, histologically, they are characterized by cells with eosinophilic granular cytoplasm and numerous packed mitochondria. We report a case of 33 year old lady medically free complain of right flank pain radiated to the lower abdomen, not associated with any aggravating or relieving factor or any other symptom there was no evidence of hypertension

Multiple primary malignant neoplasms (MPMN) are not uncommon, however, finding more than three primary malignancies in one individual is unusual. Surviving five malignancies is considered exceptional. Two patients surviving five primary malignant neoplasms for 12 and 18 years are reported: a 55-year-old woman with a squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx, two carcinomas of the breast, a carcinoma of the kidney and an adenocarcinoma of the colon, and a 75-year-old woman with a sarcoma of the myometrium, a carcinoma of the thyroid, an adenocarcinoma of the rectum, a leiomyosarcoma of the colon an

Epstein-Barr virus-associated smooth muscle tumours (EBV-SMTs) are rare neoplasms typically affecting immunosuppressed individuals such as organ transplant recipients. This case follows a woman in her 30s who presented with multi-organ masses 5 years after a kidney transplant. While initial suspicion focused on common post-transplant infections or malignancy, a liver biopsy revealed a smooth muscle neoplasm positive for EBV by EBV-encoded RNA in-situ hybridisation, consistent with EBV-SMT. Managing EBV-SMT is challenging as no standardised treatment regimens exist. When reducing immunosuppress

Introduction. Angiomyolipomas are the most common benign tumor of the kidney, associated with Tuberous Sclerosis in 20% of cases and arising sporadically in 80% of cases. Renal angiomyolipomas are neoplasms of mesenchymal origin with varying proportions of vasculature, smooth muscle spindle cells, and adipocytes, making management of such neoplasms a challenging endeavor. Possible management options include partial or radical nephrectomy and segmental renal artery embolization. Case Presentation. A 61-year-old woman admitted for a large retroperitoneal hemorrhage was discovered to have a giant

There is a broad spectrum of primary pelvic retroperitoneal masses in adults that demonstrate characteristic epidemiologic and histopathologic features and natural histories. These masses may be classified into five distinct subgroups using a pattern-based approach that takes anatomic distribution and certain imaging characteristics into account, allowing greater accuracy in their detection and characterization and helping to optimize patient management. The five groups are cystic (serous and mucinous epithelial neoplasms, pelvic lymphangioma, tailgut cyst, ancient schwannoma), vascular or hyp

In a population-based case-control study carried out in the Baltimore, Maryland metropolitan area, family cancer history for 342 chronic lymphocytic leukemia cases diagnosed in 1969-1982 revealed significantly higher risks of leukemia as well as other hematolymphoproliferative neoplasms and breast cancer among their first-degree relatives compared with reported occurrence of these neoplasms in first-degree relatives of 342 matched cancer controls and 342 matched controls without cancer. Siblings of case subjects also had a significant elevation of kidney cancer compared with siblings of contro

Sarcomas of the kidney are highly malignant neoplasms. Abnormal vascularity can be detected in almost all types of sarcomas, but arteriovenous shunting, pooling of contrast material, and tumor staining are seldom present. Extension to renal vein and inferior vena cava may occur. While angiographic findings in our seven cases of renal sarcomas were nonspecific, this diagnosis should be considered in a relatively hypovascular neoplasm especially when the capsular arteries contribute considerably to the vascular supply. Nevertheless, statistically the most likely diagnosis of a hypovascular mass

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Papillary Renal Neoplasm with Reversed Polarity (PRNRP) is a rare renal tumor first described in 2019. It is characterized by low-grade nuclei, eosinophilic cytoplasm, and an inverted nuclear arrangement. Unlike papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC), PRNRP frequently harbors KRAS mutations and lacks the typical trisomies of chromosomes 7 and 17. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry remain the gold standard for diagnosis.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 52-year-old woman with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease presented with worsening renal

INTRODUCTION: Oncocytic adrenal neoplasms are rare and mostly benign lesions. Available literature supports indication for a surgical resection, but criteria to predict aggressive behavior are unreliable, thus making decision of surgical approach (laparotomy versus laparoscopy), and extent of resection, difficult to define.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: This is the case of a 46-year-old male, with an incidental finding of a 10 cm asymptomatic tumor in the left adrenal gland identified by MRI, performed in the setting of the initial assessment of liver steatosis. Adrenal hormone levels were in the nor

INTRODUCTION: Soft tissue sarcomas are rare neoplasms often characterized by local invasiveness and distant metastasis with poor prognosis for affected patients. Among the most frequent sarcomas we find well-differentiated and dedifferentiated liposarcomas characterized by a better survival compared to the other histological types. When it is possible the only curative treatment for these neoplasms is surgical resection.
CASE REPORT: We report a case of a 62-year-old caucasian woman with CT abdominal scan that demonstrated a voluminous solid oval mass in the left perirenal space with dislocat

OBJECTIVE: To determine the role of structural alterations of human chromosome region 3p12-p21 in the possible inactivation of one or more tumour-suppressor genes in the pathogenesis of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), lung cancer and other neoplasms.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: As microsatellite instability (MI), in particular MI with loss of heterozygosity (LOH), may indicate putative tumour-suppressor gene loci, 20 kidney tumours, including 14 clear cell carcinomas and six non-clear cell neoplasms, were investigated with 10 polymorphic simple sequence-repeat markers spanning 3p12-p21. Six of these m

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a neutrophilic inflammatory dermatosis that can be idiopathic or associated with other diseases. The aim was to analyze the epidemiological and clinical characteristics, temporal trends, risk factors for poor prognosis, and admission costs associated with PG in Spain.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study, based on the Hospital Discharge Registry of the Spanish National Health System in Spain from 1999 to 2021.
RESULTS: Of 82,161,670 admissions during the study period, 4901 were for PG (hospitalization rate of 59.7/1,000,000 admissions)

BACKGROUND: The number of patients living after a cancer diagnosis is increasing, especially after thyroid cancer (TC). This study aims at evaluating both the risk of a second primary cancer (SPC) in TC patients and the risk of TC as a SPC.
METHODS: We analyzed two population-based cohorts of individuals with TC or other neoplasms diagnosed between 1998 and 2012, in 28 Italian areas covered by population-based cancer registries. Standardized incidence ratios (SIRs) of SPC were stratified by sex, age, and time since first cancer.
RESULTS: A total of 38,535 TC patients and 1,329,624 patients w

Metastatic lesions of the colon are a rare clinical entity that may present difficulties in management. The incidence of these metastases appears to be increasing, as a result of physicians' greater awareness during follow-up investigations of a primary neoplasm. Furthermore, the presence of a greater proportion of these abnormalities at autopsy should be a triggering factor for further investigation for doctors dealing with colorectal oncology. Their clinical presentation may vary from asymptomatic to signs similar to those of colorectal cancer. However, immunohistological analysis is conside

The late computed tomography appearance of a case of acute, irreversible renal transplant rejection demonstrated replacement of normal renal architecture by homogeneous low-density tissue surrounded by a rim of increased attenuation, mimicking abscess or neoplasm. Calcification was not found in the kidney, as in the only previously reported case of long-term renal transplant rejection.

Cholangiocarcinomas may be extrahepatic or intrahepatic; the latter are further divided into hilar and peripheral types. Peripheral cholangiocarcinomas often resemble adenocarcinomas arising in other organs. Although clear cell changes may occur in hepatocellular carcinoma and extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, peripheral cholangiocarcinomas with clear cell change are rare. In such cases, an extrahepatic primary carcinoma must be excluded. We present a patient with a large, clear cell papillary carcinoma in the liver. Extensive workup of the patient for other possible primary sites including kid

A 31-year-old male came to emergency department with acute abdominal pain from the right flank, diaphoresis and, palpitations. Contrasted abdominal CT revealed a tumor dependent from right adrenal gland and kidney. A laparoscopic radical nephrectomy was made to resect the tumor and pain relief. Pathological analysis reported poorly differentiated neuroblastoma from the right adrenal gland without involvement to kidney and ureter. The patient was sent to oncology clinic to continue with chemotherapy treatment. This is the third case of adult neuroblastoma reported in South America. Adult neurob

Anastomosing hemangioma (AH) is a rare, benign vascular neoplasm with distinctive histopathology and characteristic tumor distribution. AHs show marked proclivity to involve the kidneys, gonads and the retroperitoneal soft tissues; kidney is the most common target site often in the context of end stage renal disease. Recent studies have identified activating mutations of GNA genes that drive the molecular pathogenesis of AHs. AH appears as a solitary, well-circumscribed, hypervascular tumor that charters a benign course with an excellent prognosis. The purpose of this article is to provide a c

Primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of renal pelvis is a rare neoplasm. A 75-year old male presented with history of chronic dull aching pain in left flank region for last 10-years with history of left pyelolithotomy about 30-years back. After proper workup, large calculus with heterogeneous density mass detected in nonfunctioning left kidney. After radical nephrectomy, histopathological examination revealed squamous cell carcinoma of renal pelvis. SCC should be suspected in a patient with long history of renal calculous and associated mass in non functioning kidney.
