Beyond ICHD-3 criteria: Diagnostic challenges in headache in pediatric age.

BackgroundDiagnosing headache in children and adolescents is challenging because clinical features vary with age, primary and secondary forms may overlap and the use of investigations is often inconsistent.MethodsWe conducted a scoping review following PRISMA guidelines. PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, Scopus and the Cochrane Library were searched for studies on headache diagnosis in individuals aged 1-18 years (2018-2025). Of 126 records identified, 36 met eligibility criteria and were included.ResultsSeveral studies indicate that ICHD-3 criteria, developed mainly in adults, may not fully reflect paedi

Design, synthesis, and biological investigation of selective human carbonic anhydrase II, IX, and XII inhibitors using 7-aryl/heteroaryl triazolopyrimidines bearing a sulfanilamide scaffold.

A novel library of human carbonic anhydrase (hCA) inhibitors based on the 2-sulfanilamido[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine skeleton modified at its 7-position was prepared by an efficient convergent procedure. These derivatives were evaluated in vitro for their inhibition properties against a representative panel of hCA isoforms (hCA I, II, IV, IX, and XII). The target tumour-associated isoforms hCA IX and XII were potently inhibited with KIs in the low nanomolar range of 5-96 nM and 4-72 nM, respectively. Compounds 1d, 1j, 1v, and 1x were the most potent hCA IX inhibitors with KIs of 5.1, 8.6,

Prevalence of Chronic Pain After Spinal Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Degenerative disc disease and low back pain are common challenges that persist even after a discectomy. However, characterizations and quantifications of these illnesses from the patients' perspective are insufficient. We aimed to perform a systematic review of the literature and meta-analysis to determine the frequency of chronic pain after spinal surgery. We searched MEDLINE (PubMed), Google Scholar, and the Saudi Digital Library to retrieve research articles describing the frequency of persistent back pain, reoccurring disc herniation, and undergoing another operation following primary lumb

Three Dimensional Lower Extremity Musculoskeletal Geometry of the Visible Human Female and Male.

Models and simulations of human function impact medicine and medical technology. Particularly, musculoskeletal modeling provides an avenue for insight into the human body, which might not be otherwise possible. However, reaching the ultimate goal of functional multi-scale human models has been slowed by the lack of freely available datasets of anatomical models and geometries. Moreover, female-specific geometries have been neglected with a widespread emphasis on male geometry. To help realize this goal, we have developed and shared complete three-dimensional musculoskeletal geometries extracte

Unfolding the enigma of lamina cribrosa morphometry and its association with glaucoma.

Primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) is worldwide prevalent ailment, affecting millions, and leading irreversible cause of blindness. The treatment strategies revolve around one modifiable factor, elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), despite POAG presenting with normal IOP. Emphasis is put forth in recent past detecting structural elements of glaucoma; lamina cribrosa (LC) is found to be a promising prospect. Morphological alterations of LC are implicated as early sign before onset of glaucomatous optic neuropathy (GON). In this review, the authors explored scientific works from 1976 till 2018 t

SAR analysis of a series of acylthiourea derivatives possessing broad-spectrum antiviral activity.

A series of acylthiourea derivatives were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for broad-spectrum antiviral activity with selected viruses from Poxviridae (vaccinia virus) and two different genera of the family Bunyaviridae (Rift Valley fever and La Crosse viruses). A compound selected from a library screen, compound 1, displayed submicromolar antiviral activity against both vaccinia virus (EC(50)=0.25 μM) and La Crosse virus (EC(50)=0.27 μM) in cytopathic effect (CPE) assays. SAR analysis was performed to further improve antiviral potency and to optimize drug-like properties of the initial hi

Profiling of differentially expressed genes in adipose tissues of multiple symmetric lipomatosis.

Multiple symmetric lipomatosis (MSL) is a rare disorder characterized by aberrant multiple and symmetric subcutaneous adipose tissue accumulation in the face, neck, shoulders, back, chest and abdomen, severely affecting the quality of life of patients. At present, precise MSL etiology and pathogenesis remain to be elucidated. The present study first utilized a digital gene expression technique with a next‑generation sequencing platform to profile differentially expressed genes in three cases of MSL vs. normal control tissue. cDNA libraries from these tissue specimens were constructed and DNA s

From digital adoption to health-system transformation: A systematic review of outcomes, implementation barriers, and conditions for scale across global health systems.

BACKGROUND: Digital adoption does not equate to health-system transformation, and evidence of sustained benefit remains insufficient, partly because empirical and review/framework evidence is rarely distinguished. OBJECTIVE: To synthesize evidence on outcomes, implementation barriers, and conditions for scale of digital transformation across global health systems, and derive a testable implementation-to-impact pathway. METHODS: Reports published between 2015 and July 2026 were identified in PubMed, Scopus, IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, and Google Scholar (supplementary source). Of 4420 r

De novo characterization of the banana root transcriptome and analysis of gene expression under Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Cubense tropical race 4 infection.

BACKGROUND: Bananas and plantains (Musa spp.) are among the most important crops in the world due to their nutritional and export value. However, banana production has been devastated by fungal infestations caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc), which cannot be effectively prevented or controlled. Since there is very little known about the molecular mechanism of Foc infections; therefore, we aimed to investigate the transcriptional changes induced by Foc in banana roots. RESULTS: We generated a cDNA library from total RNA isolated from banana roots infected with Foc Tropical Race
