Efficacy and acceptability of next step treatment strategies in adults with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder: protocol for systematic review and network meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: For major depression, a one-size-fits-all treatment does not exist. Patients enter a 'trial-and-change' algorithm in which effective therapies are subsequently applied. Unfortunately, an empirically based order of treatments has not yet been determined. There is a magnitude of different treatment strategies while clinical trials only compare a small number of these. Network meta-analyses (NMA) might offer a solution, but so far have been limited in scope and did not account for possible differences in population characteristics that arise with increasing levels of treatment-resis

Comparative efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine for lipodermatosclerosis: A protocol for systematic review and network meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Lipodermatosclerosis (LDS) is a severe skin change accompanied by the development of chronic venous disease of the lower extremities. Its main clinical manifestations are erythema, induration, hyperpigmentation, and rough and thickened skin. It may also eventually lead to refractory ulcers, skin necrosis and even cancer. Conventional treatment methods mainly include the intake of oral anabolic hormones or androgen and pressure therapy. However, patients often refuse due to their drug resistance and intolerance. As a clinical irreplaceable treatment method for LDS, traditional Chine

Long-term efficacy of interventions for actinic keratosis: protocol for a systematic review and network meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Actinic keratoses (AK) are common precancerous lesions of the skin due to cumulative sun exposure. A variety of interventions are available for the treatment; however, the majority of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and meta-analyses focus on short-term efficacy outcomes. This network meta-analysis aims to investigate the long-term (> 12 months) efficacy of interventions for AK. METHODS: To identify relevant studies, we will perform a systematic literature research in MEDLINE, Embase, and CENTRAL and hand-search pertinent trial registers. Two authors will independently screen

The efficacy of first-line regimens for Helicobacter pylori eradication in different continents: A systematic review and network meta-analysis protocol.

BACKGROUND: Striking prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection has been convoluted with considerable resistance to various antibiotics worldwide. Although many eradication regimens have been introduced as the first-line therapies against H pylori, lack of appropriate multiple comparison studies makes hard to implement such results to the clinical practice. This project attempts to utilize a comprehensive network meta-analysis to pool the results of clinical trial comparing various first-line eradication therapies simultaneously in different continents. METHODS: We will include all randomize

Comparing the effectiveness and safety of different surgical procedures for haemorrhoids: a protocol for systematic evaluation and network meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.

INTRODUCTION: Haemorrhoidal disease affects 25-40% of adults worldwide and constitutes a primary reason for outpatient colorectal consultations. Surgical management is essential for grade III-IV or treatment-refractory cases. Numerous procedures have emerged, including Milligan-Morgan open haemorrhoidectomy, Ferguson closed haemorrhoidectomy, stapled haemorrhoidopexy, Doppler-guided haemorrhoidal artery ligation, transanal haemorrhoidal dearterialisation and laser haemorrhoidoplasty. However, randomised controlled trials and conventional meta-analyses report conflicting results on efficacy, po

Comparative Efficacy and Safety of Pharmacological Agents for Chronic Low Back Pain: A Systematic Review and Bivariate Bayesian Network Meta-analysis Protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Non-specific chronic low back pain is a leading cause of disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) with a lifetime prevalence of 80%-85%. Although many modalities of treating chronic low back pain are available, pharmacotherapy remains a very important treatment modality, according to many recognised guidelines. Each of these pharmacological agents has evidence supporting its efficacy in treating chronic low back pain, and each of them is associated with side effects. At present, no study has unified these two outcomes or ranked them from the most effective to the least effective. T

Which treatment is most effective for patients with patellofemoral pain? A protocol for a living systematic review including network meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Patellofemoral pain (PFP) affects 1 in every 14 adults. Many treatments for PFP have been evaluated, but the comparative effectiveness of all available treatments has never been examined. Network meta-analysis is the only design to study the comparative effectiveness of all available treatments in one synthesis. This protocol describes the methods for a systematic review including network meta-analysis to assess which treatment is most likely to be effective for patients with PFP. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The primary outcome measures of this network meta-analysis are the global rat

Effect of short fiber-reinforced resin-based composite on fracture resistance of extensive direct restorations: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Existing evidence suggests that conventional and bulk-fill resin composites (RCs) do not fully restore the physiological fracture resistance of teeth with extensive MOD cavities, leaving posterior restorations susceptible to bulk fracture, particularly in structurally compromised or endodontically treated teeth. Whether short fiber-reinforced resin-based composites (SFRCs) can address these limitations and improve fracture resistance remains unclear. PURPOSE: The purpose of this systematic review and network meta-analysis was to evaluate the fracture resistance of extens
