BACKGROUND: Eperisone hydrochloride, a centrally acting muscle relaxant, is a calcium antagonist that causes vasodilation and antispastic actions. Aceclofenac, an anti-inflammatory analgesic and antipyretic drug, has similar efficacy and improved gastrointestinal tolerance compared with other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as diclofenac. Propafenone, a new anti-arrhythmia drug, was given at an average dose of 70-140 mg (1-2 mg/kg body-weight) to 124 patients with various types of cardiac arrhythmias. Seven naturally derived components from hop plant (Humulus lupulus L.) extracts were tested for evaluation of biological activities affecting acne vulgaris. In 96 cases of paroxysmal tachycardia, results of chronic pharmacological assessment (CPA) were compared with acute electrophysiological-pharmacologic assessments (EPA) to evaluate the usefulness of EPA. Centrally acting muscle relaxant properties of AD-2239 were compared with those of tolperisone, eperisone, diazepam and baclofen. AD-2239 dose-relatedly depressed extensor reflex in urethane-chloralose anesthetized intact and spinal rats, the i.v. potencies being similar to those of tolperisone and eperisone. Xanthohumol (XN) and its related compounds were evaluated for their effects on modulating the production of interleukin (IL)-12, the most important factor driving T helper 1 immune responses. A number of obscure syndromes can mimic dental or jaw pain in the absence of pathosis within these structures. This enigmatic dental pain includes conditions such as pretrigeminal neuralgia, complex regional pain syndrome, temporal tendinitis, and carotodynia. Each of these syndromes is described through a pertinent case report to illustrate appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
