Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) is a serologically distinct entity defined by a ribonuclease-sensitive extractable nuclear antigen. The destruction of (125)I-labelled insulin by an enzyme system from rat adipose tissue was studied. The system was located in the particulate fraction. We detected concentration-dependent surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of several label-free proteins (lysozyme, ribonuclease B, avidin, catalase, and hemoglobin) for the first time in aqueous solutions.
