We review our recent experience with the treatment of traumatic strictures of the posterior urethra in children. Five males, ages six to seventeen years with dense posterior urethral strictures, have required open reconstructive procedures. Four patients had injury secondary to pelvic fractures, and 1 patient had an iatrogenic injury from surgery for imperforate anus. Two patients were repaired perineally, 2 with a combination retropubic-perineal approach, and 1 patient required a transpubic approach. The repair of post-traumatic strictures of the prostatomembranous urethra in 22 patients by a bulboprostatic intussusception technique is described. Minor wound infection occurred in 12 patients. No other complications were encountered in up to 5 years of follow-up. This operation is a useful and relatively easy technique for dealing with all but the very long strictures of this region.

PURPOSE: Several surgical techniques are available to treat anterior urethral stricture. The choice of surgical technique largely depends on the severity of stricture disease. The U-score (urethral stricture score) is based on urethral stricture characteristics, namely length (1 to 3 points), number (1 or 2 points), location (1 or 2 points) and etiology (1 or 2 points), which are tallied to provide a total score of 4 to 9 points. OBJECTIVE: To describe the technique of ultrasound urethrogram (USUG) for the diagnosis of anterior urethral stricture performed in an ambulatory setting without any adjunctive imaging.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between September 2013 and September 2015, 35 consecutive adult men (>18 years old) presenting for anterior urethral reconstruction underwent outpatient USUG prior to definitive management.
