This report presents a 13-year-old girl with an aggressive skeletal lesion involving the posterior elements of the cervicothoracic junction. The lesion was determined to be a Musculoskeletal Tumor Society grade 3 aneurysmal bone cyst based on imaging and pathologic findings. The cyst was treated with endovascular n-butyl cyanoacrylate embolization and percutaneous cryoablation with sensory and motor-evoked potential monitoring. Follow-up imaging at 16 months demonstrated significant reduction in the size of the lesion, with no evidence of recurrence.

INTRODUCTION: In Denmark, salvage cryoablation of locally recurrent prostate cancer (sCAP) after curatively intended radiation therapy (RT) is the only potentially curable option, and this experimental treatment has only been offered at Aarhus University Hospital. This study presents our experiences with the treatment.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: sCAP procedures were performed from 2006 to 2012. Cases were registered prospectively. Recurrent disease was defined by the Phoenix criterion (prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level > PSA nadir + 2 ng/ml).
RESULTS: A total of 39 sCAP treatments were perfor

AIM: Catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) is associated with an important risk of early and late recurrence, necessitating repeat ablation procedures. The aim of this prospective randomized patient-blind study was to compare the efficacy and safety of cryoballoon (Cryo) versus radiofrequency (RF) ablation of PAF after failed initial RF ablation procedure.
METHODS: Patients with a history of symptomatic PAF after a previous failed first RF ablation procedure were eligible for this study. Patients were randomized to Cryo or RF redo ablation. The primary endpoint of the stud

Vasoproliferative retinal tumors are benign tumors of unknown origin often accompanied by vitreoretinal inflammation. A 21-year-old female patient presented with acute reduced unilateral visual acuity. A solid yellow vascularized lesion was present in the inferior temporal retina accompanied by localized retinal detachment and accumulation of hard exudations. The only finding was an increased Bartonella henselae titer. Persistence of uveitis and blurred vision led to therapy for Bartonella henselae with macrolide antibiotics and successful tumor regression was achieved by cryotherapy.

OBJECTIVE: Remote endarterectomy is a less invasive technique compared with supragenicular bypass surgery for superficial femoral artery (SFA) occlusive disease. Early restenosis remains one of the drawbacks of this procedure. To prevent restenosis following remote endarterectomy, concomitant cryoplasty of the desobstruct SFA was introduced.
METHODS: A prospective cohort study was initiated with 17 patients treated with cryoplasty of the SFA after remote endarterectomy. Indications for surgery were claudication (n = 12), rest pain (n = 3), or tissue loss (n = 2).
RESULTS: There were no techn

BACKGROUND: Epicardial fat is a metabolically active visceral adipose tissue that has been implicated in atrial remodeling and atrial fibrillation (AF) pathophysiology. Although increased epicardial fat volume has been associated with AF presence and recurrence after radiofrequency ablation, its role in predicting early outcomes after cryoballoon ablation (CBA) remains incompletely defined. This study aimed to evaluate the association between computed tomography (CT)-derived epicardial fat volume and early arrhythmia recurrence following CBA for paroxysmal AF.
METHODS: We retrospectively anal

INTRODUCTION: Although noninferiority of cryoballoon ablation (CBA) and radiofrequency catheter ablation for antral pulmonary vein isolation (APVI) has been reported in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF), it is not clear whether contact force sensing (CF-RFA) and CBA with the second-generation catheter have similar procedural costs and long-term outcomes. The objective of this study is to compare the long-term efficacy and cost implications of CBA and CF-RFA in patients with PAF.
METHODS AND RESULTS: A first APVI was performed in 146 consecutive patients (age: 63 ± 10 years, m

BACKGROUND: Extranodal follicular dendritic cell sarcoma (FDCS) is a very rare malignancy with a variable clinical course. It is often not considered and has the potential to result in a misdiagnosis of other common sarcomas or sarcomatoid carcinomas. This is particularly true with the preoperative biopsy specimen, in which the tissue sample is often small.
CASE PRESENTATION: A case of FDCS in a 63-year-old woman, arising in the urinary bladder, a previously unreported site, is described. The patient presented with the typical clinical symptoms of a bladder cancer, and the morphology of the t

AIMS: First-line ablation prior to antiarrhythmic drug (AAD) therapy is an option for symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF); however, the optimal ablation technique, radiofrequency (RF), or cryoballoon (CB) has to be determined.
METHODS AND RESULTS: The FREEZE Cohort Study compares RF and CB ablation. Treatment-naïve patients were documented in the FREEZEplus Registry. Periprocedural data and outcome were analysed. From 2011 to 2014, a total of 373/4184 (8.9%) patients with PAF naïve to AAD were identified. Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) was performed with RF (n = 180) or CB (n = 1
