We report the computed tomographic appearance of invasive fungal disease of the paranasal sinuses in 13 patients. Coronal and axial computed tomographic images were obtained in each patient and data were analysed. Eight patients had Aspergillus flavus infection, four had Mucormycosis, and one had mixed Candida and Mucor. Our experience was different from that of other workers in many respects. Over a period of 15 years the author operated on 205 patients with traumatic frontobasal CSF fistulas. BACKGROUND: A polyposis nasi has distinct impact on a patient's quality of life (QL). There are only few long term studies available regarding the effects of a functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) in patient's QL with polyposis nasi after 7 years average follow-up. Furthermore sex-specific differences in polyposis nasi and FESS should be evaluated.
METHODS: 135 patients (33 female, 102 male) with polyposis nasi were included in this study. The mean follow-up was 7 years after performed sinus surgery. To assess the QL, the "Rhinosinusitis-Beeinträchtigungs-Index" (RSBI) was used.

We reviewed our experience with eight infants or young children (less than 2 years of age) who presented sequentially with Apert syndrome. In order to study the features of sinonasal polyposis (SNP) on CT, 100 consecutive coronal sinus CT examinations done for chronic inflammatory sinonasal disease were reviewed. The CT findings of the 27 fully documented SNPs were analyzed. All our SNPs were bilateral. There was a strong tendency for extensive involvement. A 79 year-old female patient presented with immunoblastic B-cell lymphoma of the ethmoidal sinuses and destruction of the anterior cranial fossa. After 3 cycles of high-dose methorexate (HD-MTX) MTX serum level remained elevated and creatinine serum levels raised. The patient received Carboxypeptidase G2 (CPG2) intravenously. INTRODUCTION: Sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) accounts for <1% of all malignancies but represents 70% of sinonasal cancer. Up to 10% of SCCs are associated with inverted papilloma (IPSCC). Studies that compare patients, treatment, and outcomes of SCC and IPSCC are absent in the literature.
METHODS: A retrospective review of patients with SCC and those with IPSCC at Cleveland Clinic and Indiana University from 1995 to 2015. The records were analyzed for demographics, tumor characteristics, treatment, and outcomes.

Naso-orbitoethmoid fractures account for 5% of all facial fractures. We used data derived from a white 34-year-old man to make a transient dynamic finite element model, which consisted of about 740 000 elements, to simulate fist-like impacts to this anatomically complex area. Finite element analysis showed a pattern of von Mises stresses beyond the yield criterion of bone that corresponded with fractures commonly seen clinically. Finite element models can be used to simulate injuries to the human skull, and provide information about the pathogenesis of different types of fracture.
