Antifouling surfaces are specifically crucial to cardiovascular applications. In this study, a polyvinylchloride (PVC) surface was modified by coating a biocompatible and hydrophilic polymer by a mild coating technique. The PVC surface was first activated and then functionalized, followed by coating with the polymer. Protease inhibitor treatment strongly diminishes mortality in HIV-infected patients. This treatment has also been associated with lipodystrophy and has been shown to alter adipocyte differentiation. The mitogenic pathways so far identified in mammalian cells fall into three main categories: tyrosine kinase, kinase C, and the cAMP-dependent pathways. OBJECTIVE: Understanding the regulation of adipocyte differentiation by cellular and extracellular factors is crucial for better management of chronic conditions such as obesity, insulin resistance and lipodystrophy. Obesity is associated with insulin resistance and cardiovascular complications. In this paper, we examine the possible beneficial role of lemon juice in dieting. Lemon extract (LE) has been proposed to improve serum insulin levels and decrease angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activity in mouse models.
