Effects of tongue coating and oral health on halitosis among dental students.

PURPOSE: To assess halitosis and determine the relationship between halitosis and tongue scores, periodontal status and DMFT among dental students. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study comprised 268 (178 female, 90 male) dental students. Halitosis was measured using a Halimeter and the organoleptic method. Halitosis was diagnosed with a mean volatile sulphur compounds (VSC) level of >=125 ppb and an organoleptic measurement of >= 2 on a 0- to 5-point scale. Tongue scores were obtained using a tongue coating index (TCI), periodontal status was measured and assessed using the Community Periodontal

[Oral hygiene habits and dental caries among students. Investigation of 150 students in university housing in Dakar, Senegal].

The objective of this study is to describe the oral hygiene habits and the status of the teeth decay of 150 senegalese students living in a university campus. The results showed that the toothbrush as mean of oral hygiene supplanted the traditional means such as "cure dents" or water rinse with finger. Results showed also a high rate decay (60%) but the CAO index remained low (2.04%). We founded an improvement of dental decay status with an increasing daily number of tooth brushing: we noted a decreasing dental plaque deposition rate, a decreasing decay rate and a CAO index remaining low until

Relationship of oral hygiene and sugar consumption to risk of caries in children.

The associations of dental caries with poor oral hygiene and high sugar consumption were analyzed taking into account possible confounding and factor interaction. The series consisted of 543 children from low-fluoride areas (0.10-0.46 parts/10(6)), aged 5, 9 and 13 years. Plaque accumulation and sugar consumption were slightly confounded throughout the observations. Effect-modification appeared to exist, since the effect of one factor was greater at higher levels of the other. The association between the amount of plaque and dental caries was statistically significant at all levels of sugar co

Prevalence and distribution of root caries in Pomerania, North-East Germany.

While biological and lifestyle determinants of reproductive health are well documented globally, comprehensive data integrating socio-demographic, lifestyle, and health correlates within a contemporary Polish context remain limited. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence and identify correlates of self-reported fertility problems among adults completing a 2024 online survey in Poland (the National Fertility Test). Of the 8,000 respondents surveyed, the analytical sample comprised 5,532 (3,316 women, 2,216 men) who had attempted to conceive. Sex-specific, age-adjusted, Holm-Bonferroni-corr
