Analysis of compliance and efficacy of integrated management of whole process in the choice of percutaneous full-endoscopic surgery for patients with cervical disc herniation.

BACKGROUND: Percutaneous spinal endoscopy is a new type of surgery for the treatment of cervical disc herniation. It can avoid the complications of the classic anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) approach and the risk of adjacent spondylosis. How can we effectively improve patients' awareness of spinal endoscopy and their election of endoscopic techniques? OBJECTIVE: To analyze the compliance and clinical effect of the integrated management of the whole process in the choice of percutaneous full-endoscopic surgery for patients with cervical disc herniation. METHODS: Retrospective

Numbness and Weakness Recovered at a Less Extent in Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation after Percutaneous Endoscopic Lumbar Discectomy.

BACKGROUND: Patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH) may present with motor disorders and various sensory disorders, among which pain and numbness are the most common ones. Percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) is reported to be both safe and effective. However, most of the previous studies focused on the recovery of pain, and the relief extent of numbness and weakness has rarely been reported. The Sciatica Bothersomeness Index (SBI) is a self-assessment tool for LDH patients. It has demonstrated acceptable reliability, construct validity, and responsiveness. OBJECTIVES: Our aim

Percutaneous discectomy: minimally invasive method for treatment of recurrent lumbar disc herniation.

OBJECTIVES: Recurrent lumbar disc herniation has been reported in 5-11% of patients. Revision surgery carries a higher risk of complications due to epidural scar formation and difficulty in identifying the bony landmarks. The present study was conducted to apply an innovative procedure which optimally has lower complications, and decrease the need for major surgery for high risk patients. PATIENT AND METHOD: Our study presents six patients of recurrent herniation after past performed procedures such as microdiscectomy, or a laminectomy and discectomy who were readmitted and treated with APLD

Percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy - early clinical experience.

We report our early clinical experience with percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) for herniated nucleus pulposus (HNP) in the lumbar spine. We introduced PELD to our clinical practice in June 2009. A total of 311 patients with degenerative lumbar spine disease were treated in our hospital up to August 2011. Thirty-seven patients with lumbar HNP were treated by PELD. PELD was carried out under local anesthesia, and the endoscope was continuously irrigated with saline. Twenty-eight patients were treated through the transforaminal approach, 5 were treated through the interlaminar appr

Clinical Application of Percutaneous Transforaminal Endoscopic Surgery in Lumbar Discal Cyst.

BACKGROUND: Discal cyst is very rare and can cause intractable low back pain and radiating leg pain. Symptoms are hard to distinguish from lumbar disc herniation. The best treatment for discal cyst is controversial. Most lumbar discal cysts are treated surgically, while most studies of percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic surgery are case reports. This study investigated the clinical value of percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic surgery for lumbar discal cyst. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted in 9 patients with a discal cyst from June 2016 to November 2018. All patients had be
